I saw this episode some years ago b fore I had even heard about the movie. I’ve since watched a synopsis of the movie on KZread so now I can appreciate this episode all the more. By the way, I don’t recommend the movie, unless you want to be put off your food for the rest of your life.

Disease, I don't know, but disorder or uncontrollable obsession? Absolutely. I'm nearly four years sober myself. When I was at my lowest point I can tell you, it's real. You leave to go to the liquor store and it's like watching from outside your body. You yell "stop" to yourself but your body doesn't listen. People that say you can just stop anytime with "willpower" are full of SH. Why is heroine considered a legitimate addiction and not alcohol? They do touch on some fair points in this episode though... a lot of people have a hard time with the "higher power" aspect, and these meetings can get tedious. I stayed in AA for two years and did the steps... by then the meetings were causing me to want to drink more than they were wanting to stay sober. You can only hear the same horrific stories so many times before you have to bow out. At my lowest point I was burning through nearly a bottle of high-end scotch and a six-pack of beer a day. I detoxed at my best friends house for ten days. That was Nov. 28, 2020. So YES it's real, but obviously Randy is doing Randy things in this episode.

I'm surprised you're saying wow to what he says. To me it isn't even humor. I think like this... I don't consider this a comedy. It's just how I think. There's just edgy expressions for stuff I consider common sense. Maybe I'm too naive or ignorant to see that an average person can be so lied to, so manipulated that he doesn't see he obeys the rules of the owners. Or the very wealthy. It's not a democracy. Your purchasing power determines your level of freedom. That means we are inherently not equal, by design. I can go on and on.. not necessary here.
