Growing up in the "video store" era there really was something awesome going in, walking down the aisles and picking out movies or games for the weekend

There’s actually a lot of cool horror references in this. The Shining, of course but there are others.

I do miss the ritual of loading the whole family in the covered wagon and rolling into town to get movies. Browsing the store, everybody getting to pick out one, all that. Good times. I don't miss having to leave the house or go out of one's way to return them, though. Bad times.

The scene where Randy is insane and it shows him watching Ted is absolutely hilarious.

I really do miss Blockbuster. 😢 Getting a couple of movies and a big bag of candy was awesome!

I can't drive where my local Blockbuster used to be without thinking, Blockbuster! There was a Blockbuster right next to a Burger King, and several car dealerships.

I love this episode. Sharon is so over it. And Stan ‘dying’ on the iPad. 😂 Another great more recent Halloween episode is the Scoots!! Check that one out too.

There is 1 Blockbuster left in the world,it's in Alaska. When Russell Crowe was getting divorced, he sold a bunch of his personal memorabilia. John Oliver bought Russell Crowes codpiece from Gladiator and his jockstrap from Cinderella Man and donated them to that Blockbuster so they could be displayed in store to help attract customers. To add further twist, Russell Crowe donated the money from the sale to an Australian Koala clinic on the condition that it be used to help open a new wing called "The John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Ward". This is because Koalas apparently spread Chlamydia between themselves like wildfire. True story.

it took 16 seasons but Matt & Trey finally made my favorite episode of all time. I've been recommending this episode since South Park started to get popular to reactors 2ish years ago. Thanks for being the first to react to it.

We had a Family Video which is a Blockbuster type place, but it was still around for years after Blockbuster closed. They closed recently, but I’m glad I got to have that Blockbuster type experience because I was too little to remember Blockbuster that well. The only memory I have of going into a Blockbuster was when they were giving everything away for free because they were shutting down.

Probably my favorite episode it’s such a classic

I always missed the "bruce, tony and kirk" line, or rather thought they were just random names. Just shows how packed those episode can be.

There's DEFINITELY a market for return of Rental Stores. Not many can afford streaming or the servers or internet services go down. Even a hybrid Rental place that also does rentals via mail. But yeah, this is a take on The Shining.

As a supporter of physical media . I do tend to buy Digital a bit more now due to more convenience all the film will come out months before it’s released and physical but I still get the occasional Blu-ray or DVD

I remember renting movies on vhs and video games on Super Nintendo from video stores as a kid.

I get the digital age is convenient overall. But I still like buying movies I like and putting them on my shelf. I also like watching the behind the scenes and bonus content. I also have ghosts in my house so the episode rings true.

I loved going to the blockbuster. Picking movies was so much more fun that way. Plus you had most of the movies in one place, now you need like 4 different streaming services to browse through all available content.

And even if there had been drama or bickering during the school week,the whole family came together for movie night. You took your time,picked out movies you could hold in your hand and your dopamine levels was off the charts. Now I can basically see any film ever made with the click of a button and I feel very little joy.

Stan on the iPad was reference to Big Bang Theory. Do not know if Season 16 was out before or after they did it on Big Bang Theory, but it was the same concept done.

This episode actually has a huge plot hole. Stan joins the boys via FaceTime. But how does his iPad even get WiFi in that ancient Blockbuster??

I miss blockbuster a lot, used to go there, good chat and recomandations by staff, and looking through physical copies while trailers ran on the screens, cool poasters.. Candy and crisps.. Cozy and smells like popcorn.. It was nice socialization where we actually need it...

It was kinda a pain in the ass but it used to be fun to go to the video store and look for movies with the family while secretly scanning the video boxes for soft core porn that you could secretly rent later. You didn't really have to buy a shitty video game either because you could rent them and if they had good replay value it would help you decide whether or not to buy it.

Im sure theres been at least 1 south park episode where at least half the town disapeared thanos might have been responcable for that like the one episode when all the adults leave town and the kids do some wierd carosel ritual, instead of getting dusted they just left
