Also this was filmed with a DJI Osmo action 4. Unfortunately I didn't allow for a slight sag on the mount so it's tilted down too much at times but let me know what you think of the footage anyway. It also had a foam cover over it like I use with the GoPros to try help combat wind noise.

    @@gidosfishingadventures Yep. The amount of legalese in that plan's fine print was stunning. 95% of respondents will have their submission thrown out based on spelling alone. I'm hoping the various 4WD clubs will get wind of it and take it seriously as well. You wont ever get on a beach east of Hopetoun if that goes through unchallenged.

    Agreed Gido. Some regulations are all kinds of messed up. Aspesh in my country. We are so limited at what and where we can catch. We have what you call "treknetters" in Afrikaans. They go out from the beach in little boats and harvest any and everything. For example, even like 10cm mulloway..... If you want some tips on catching mulloway, go have a look at some South African yt channels. It's a fish that most of us target with exceptional results. It's just something that we are pretty good at. From water color, wind, bait presentation and general sea reading like "flatter" seas. If you want to do a search, we call them Kob or Kabeljou here. But once again a great video. Always get excited when I get a notification from your channel. Straight out Cape Town South Africa ✌

    Absolutely agree with you mate, the proposed sanctuary zones are simply insane. Whilst we definitely do need to think about having certain areas closed, or at least closed for certain periods, applying closures to the extent these clowns are proposing simply beggars belief. I'm heading to the link you provided right now and I'll be as diplomatic as I possibly can, it is, however, extremely difficult not calling these tossers exactly what they are. As always mate, tight lines and stay safe out there.

    they should really take a leap out of how SA did some of their sanctuary zones, for example the cape Elizebeth Sanctuary zone has a "special purpose zone" that allows for land based rod and lone fishing only, we have a few zones that are like that, no boat fishing but landbased allowed. Sanctuary zones really should only be in places that its needed, identify actual fish breeding locations and close those off, Ardrossan Sanctuary zone for example is a known snapper breeding ground so its been closed off same with the Cuttlefish breeding area near Whyalla

  • @teeanahera8949

    @teeanahera8949

    3 ай бұрын

    It’s not quite that simple as just assuming fish breed in one spot and they’re fair go everywhere else. Some species, and not just fish, require vast habitat that maybe a shifting habitat. The beach where I live has been decimated by prawn fisheries which has a bigger impact on bycatch than prawns. It is common to have thousands of dead immature Trevally washed up through by catch of prawn fishing. The prawn fishery also digs up sea grasses which are essential Dugong habitat.

  • @comeatmebro3229

    @comeatmebro3229

    3 ай бұрын

    @@teeanahera8949 no you dont assume you do the research, with research you can identify the fish breeding area's/spawning area's and nursery zones, those are the area's you should be putting the sanctuary zones. As for Prawn trawling thats something that needs to be regulated, for example here crab fisherman aren't allowed to fish the same "zone" two years in a row (i beleive there needs to be a 3 year gap between each visit) and thats a whole different discussion but again prawn tralling doesn't really have an impact on what i was talking about, you dont prawn trawl from the beach, and the "special zones" in SA ONLY permit land based rod real and handline fishing and for area's only accessible by boat i did say they should be where needed.

    serious recreational anglers are almost never the guys leaving trash. it's guys from out of town or bum ass locals who poach and leave plastic and beer cans. the good news is that those areas will rebound quickly if there are any species which are pressured. nature finds a way pretty quick. if there aren't any problems there'll be very little change if all they're limiting are a few rod and reel fishermen every once in a while. it's netting, dragging, leaving traps etc that really pollutes and has bycatch. rod and reel fishing from shore is some of the most sustainable means to harvest protein on the planet.

    I don’t think there are already any issues generally speaking and netting etc has been happening it’s legally shouldn’t happen been from what I know. And they cant police these areas anyway. Not sure if you are aware but it looked like you put a bit of a pallet on your fire. Keep up the vids as we all enjoy watching.

    Guys, whenever I go on vacation in Spain, specifically Galicia, up in the north-west, I like to go fishing. It is a hobby that I get to enjoy only on rare occasions, since I am only there 3 weeks per year tops. I looked up the rods and reels in Gido video description and it's easily 1000+$ for a rod + reel. It sounds ridiculous to spend that kind of money for what I will be getting out of it. Up til now I used self made bamboo rods, but that doesn't really get you anything worth filleting. What would you recommend for a very amateur hobby fisher? Maybe I should rather ask people in Galicia, but I was filled with curiosity after looking up the prices of Gido's fishing gear. xD

    I do use it sometimes. I believe it is biodegradable. I certainly hope so and will look into it. Yes I hear the new shooting legislation is a bad joke too although personally I don’t know much about it myself

    just got on the dbca website and had my say. There has to be a happy medium between recreational fishing and conservation. The thought of not being able to throw a line in the water to try for a fish or two on the beach down there is a bit sad. I absolutely agree the area must be managed carefully to protect it.

  • @gidosfishingadventures

    Yes we need a happy medium. Although at the moment I can’t understand the need to protect it as it’s already so remote and the weather does a great job in protecting it as is.

    an absolute travesty. governments across the country are seriously losing touch (that's under the assumption they were ever in touch to start with...). we are copping a statewide ban on targeting groper here in NSW purely as a result of a few select idiots breaking the rules and the media causing a shitstorm... fingers crossed for your sake Gido that they come to their senses! and great content, as per.

    Yeh I've heard about that in NSW also. I jumped on and quickly gave my opinion on that when the opportunity came up. Can't see how they can keep that law in place when they've already admitted it because of "feeling" and they have no scientific reasoning at all

    One thing irks me every time. In South Africa, we wouldn't be caught dead just lopping out a hunk of meat out there. Baits look like they belong in a Michelin star restaurant when they're sent out. We use cotton to fasten and shape the bait for maximum distance, movement in the water, etc. Is it that the Ozzie fish cba about bait presentation, or the target species don't care?

    The alternative to marine parks is generally developers putting housing on the coast and this makes places more accessible and accommodating which leads to overfishing. On the mid-north coast of NSW, that's how it goes. It's either marine parks or developments, appropriation of some description. Developers and more humans is a worse alternative in my opinion.

    What is their rationale 1) over fishing 2) impact on environment 3) protect national asset 4) promote eco tourism?? Looks pretty pristine to me , normally these measures are done under dire circumstances such as heavy over fishing or potential over exploitation from mining or development ? ? Maybe I am wrong but looks like Greenies over reach !!?
