3:50 This not "reverse apartheid" There are many more times number of blacks in the same situation and for far longer time. She probably knows it but pretend not seeing it because she wants somebody to blame. And that somebody will never be a rich people who are potentially her future employer. This is called "class war" South Africa has never been a equal country, in fact the worst when it comes to inequality. Anti-apartheid just took out the divide between black and white, so anybody can be poor today. The history of apartheid will end only after both poor blacks and poor whites get together and realize who are their common enemy. It's not likely to happen any time soon and poor whites will keep complain about blacks and poor blacks keep complain about whites. Color of skin is much easier to identify than the size of the bank account.

You are where you are whether it's fair or otherwise. The government isnt going to help so you must accept that and make the camp your home, not merely a place to squat. I suspect there is quite a lot of people with know-how: learn from them. Organize the community and labor. The floors can be raised on wooden palates, then cemented. Together, the community can purchase some welding equipment for a multiplicity of uses, such as patching up gaps in the metal framing of houses and to construct basic aquaducts, to bring water to smaller clusters of homes, and to irrigate the compost site where beans, berries, vegetables must be grown. Interior walks can be erected with cheap scraps of wood skillfully applied, and space between the walls and the corrugated steel can be insulated. Used, neglected items of furniture taken from dump sites can be cleaned, repaired and finished. Paint your home and beautify the surroundings. Establish strict law and order. Teach your children to read, write and to do math. Apprentice them in all skilled work if possible. Live humbly and without resentment. Love your neighbor and contrymen - black, white and brown. Return to faith in Christ Jesus most especially. He will soften your hearts and you will come to see how rather excellent He has and continues to privide for you (this poverty in neither abject nor the kind under which millions of black South Africans Africans similarly live). It's a challenge that can be met with enthusiasm. How you deal with it, particularly from a spiritual perspective, will profoundly influence the character your children will ultimately develop. May God bless you with His peace.

@@sibabalwesaul912 Hi Sibabalwe, the camps where the black people live are very well reported on. In the UK we've been fed reports, on exclusively black camps, for 50 years, at least. We've had star-studded mega concerts to address the plight of poor black Africans. There are thousands of charities collecting money. Britain's two largest airlines, Virgin and BA, collect money on every flight for impoverished Africans and exclusively use imagery of black people. Rock stars and Hollywood stars frequently highlight the poverty of poor black Africans. The coverage they receive is staggering. There is no need, for UNION, to report on this story - EVERYONE on the planet is aware of the horrible situation these people find themselves in. There isn't a man, woman or child in Europe that isn't aware of poverty suffered by black people in Africa. The amount of money, from a combination of State Aid and private sector charity, that is raised to assist poor black Africans is phenomenal. Every day there are people on my local high street collecting money for black African poverty. Their plight is broadcast EVERYWHERE in Europe and the west. However, virtually no-one in the west, in 2016 when we shot the story, knew of the poverty taking hold in the Afrikaaner community. This is why we shot this story. This is also why the story received so much attention, some positive and unfortunately, the story attracted some vicious attention also. We have NEVER seen Afrikaaner poverty covered on mainstream media. Not once. Black African poverty is covered nonstop. Every network, radio station, newspaper, and magazine will cover the subject of black poverty, in some way, on a regular basis. With these facts in mind, it is staggering to us why any reasonable person would have a problem with the Afrikaaner community receiving attention from a tiny independent media organisation such as UNION magazine.

It used to be said of whites in South Africa that, as a white person, if you cannot make it in RSA, you cannot make it anywhere in the world. Apartheid made Afrikaans speaking South Africans comfortable enough, to where they did not seek education, free enterprise and self-dependency. The system had a welfare system for whites only for hundreds of years. Even white farmers had farm subsidies. If crops failed, they got a huge check from the government. It made them lazy to work their farms even though they used poor Africans to work their farms. Africans did not even know welfare existed. They had to live in shacks and be self dependent. Most whites were shielded from what apartheid was doing to blacks, and made to believe that blacks were just lazy. I am not surprised this lady this it is the new government's fault they thy are poor. Fact is millions of black Africans are living in similar shacks or worse. There is no longer welfare in South Africa for whites or blacks. Whites are hired less or lose their jobs mainly because they cannot compete with better educated black Africans. In the old days under apartheid whites got jobs because of the color of their skin as a 'god given' privilege.

The EU would rather accept Syrian refugees of which there is good chance some of them may well be IS members. They are South African citizens, and their ancestors have been in South Africa for a couple of hundred years at least, much like Australians or Americans of British or European descent. They are citizens of the South Africa, like it or not. In a decent country, that means something, regardless of your race. What is the difference? Difference is, they are living under an ANC govt, who barely cares for their own indigenous peoples let alone those of European descent.

I am lucky enough to have a job here, I live in decent house, and have food on the table every day. I am not rich by any means, just another person trying to get by in life. However I would have gone to the UK years ago if I could have - but they don't give a hoot about the discards of their old British Empire. I have stood in a graveyard in Surrey where I know some of ancestors were buried in the 1800's, but because I don't have any grandparents born in the UK I cannot claim British ancestry. They don't care that my grandfather fought for Britain in the 2nd world war. If I want to immigrate to the UK, it would be very expensive - money I do not have, especially with the weak South African currency. Would your French govt even care about the plight of poor white people in South Africa? Somehow I doubt it. As it is, there are racial tensions in South Africa, with a t shirt being worn by a university student recently saying - Kill all whites. Or maybe they will only care about the situation when it's too late - like Rwanda.

I mean groups like the UN and EU don't even demand better treatment for these people yet they're quick to complain about the treatment of so called refugees who've broken immigration laws to get to where they are. Huge double standard. If these people were any other race than white there would be real representation at international level for them. The lady in the film refers to it as reverse apartheid but it's not, these people are far more educated than the black people living in shanty towns under apartheid. Those black communities were also provided with community schools, water and other facilities, things which the current ANC regime is not doing.

They are not forced into an education system that only teaches them how to do hard labour/semi-skilled that will only ensure that they can secure a job to live just above the poverty line. They are not immediately denied every high paying job due to their race, of course there is a process where they look at other races first but it doesn't meant that they are 100% not getting the job. We should see them as humans in misfortune and give them equal to not greater than care. A whole race can't be entirely privileged, I believe in an equilibrium to a certain degree and even in other aspects in life. Also mistreating someone based on your perception of their social advantages which in this case is out of their control is completely fucking foolish.

I will jot down a few pointers from this interview and give my thoughts at the bottom 1. Government refusing to assist this people. 2. Gather as much donations as they can 3. Started popping up in 96 & 97 4. People end up in this camps because of the broad based BEE law which states that you cannot employ a white person. 5. The white minority men are not getting employed because of this affirmative action (action favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination; positive discrimination.) laws. 6. More blacks are being employed, and more whites are loosing their jobs, homes and they end up in this squatter camps. Firstly, this lady is running an NGO for the supposedly poor whites who the government is refusing to help. Point 1 : The government does take time to assist anyone, goes for all people (black and white Point 2 : I feel she's just in this for donations Point 3 : Squatters started popping in those years from all colours (black and white) Point 4 : Broad based BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) is a racially selective programme launched by the South African government to redress the inequalities of Apartheid by giving certain previously disadvantaged groups (Blacks, Coloureds, Indians, and Chinese) of South African citizens economic privileges previously not available to them. It does not say you cannot employ white people. She is lying, you can hear from her voice. Point 5 : White minority men are not getting employed just like any other black men, mainly because of Educational Qualifications. Another lie Point 6 : Not all black men are getting employed because of their skin colour, there are companies that only employ white people - She's also lying

It's sad though to see how this country has turned out to be and I'm a Kenyan saying this. All races should learn to coexist together and I feel like the government is prioritizing on the wrong things.. In the 1960s to 1970s a few years after independence Kenya went through a strategic phase of educating the masses. People would do 5 year courses in 3 years. The government paid for everything though and when people were done most ended up abroad with scholarships before returning back as well equipped skilled labour. Obamas father who was known to be one of the. brightest minds in Kenya at that time went through that program together with other prominent figures. Certain individuals are likely to make good use of land compared to someone from the ghetto and that's what could make the economy collapse if they replaced skilled labour with unskilled labour...

Excellent report, well documented. There are indeed at least 1million poor whites, mostly Afrikaners, living in these camps. I have been reporting on these matters as a retired SA journalist for the past 20years and maintain an archive about the atrocities and human-rights violations against the minorities in South Africa under the ANC-regime The 'landfill site' referred in this interview, at Munsieville, containss many heavy metals and chemicals and poisons, and the land is too poisoned to raise crops on - it's just too dangerous. There is no clean, piped in drinking water. That's a human-rights violation under the UN Convention. The current dire predicament of the Afrikaners in South africa is not ''reverse apartheid' - the Afrikaners never treated blacks this way: during apartheid there were no more than 9 race-laws ruling the activities of the black population mainly dealing with the establishment of independent tribal homelands to give them the right to rule their own cultural affairs. Black people in SA were NEVER denied jobs, and the black population under apartheid was the best educated black population on the African continent, ina country where jobs and food were plentiful under a booming economy . The whites of South Africa now are barred from the majority of jobs - by more than 141 race-laws under for instance, the socalled 'Black Economic Empowerment Act -- passed by the ANC-regime since the end of apartheid in 1994. There were some poor whites during apartheid. But when the ANC took over, the more than 3,4million Afrikaners face a deluge of laws under which they not only are not allowed to work for their survival, but aren't allowed to own land, and are barred from educating their children in their own language. My archive is located on www.censorbugbear.org/farmitracker/reports. It does not make happy reading - but it's documented with documents, sources, and picture-reports.

As a retired journalist, you will understand that Affirmative action does not come out of nowhere. there was and is a need for a system that addresses the injustices against the person of color, a system that addresses the decades of under-representation of people of color both academically and in the job world! Pain needs to be a shared initiative, it is really sad when people start getting emotional about the ills of our society when it affects their race! If the systems that were designed to oppress people of color do not affect you, then do not get emotional when affirmative action acknowledges the disadvantage of the black race, and does something, not to favour people of color over white, but to ensure that people of color are considered equally. Yes the Afrikaners did not treat us this way, they went all out to destroy us! what is happening to the poor white people is a social problem, not a hate crime or us black people oppressing them! Affirmative action like the Black Economic Empowerment Act does not take anything away from anyone, it just aims at leveling the playing field.
