a 1/2 bath is a toilet and sink. 3/4 bath is a toilet, sink and stall shower. With the tubs you don't like, don't worry, those bathrooms usually have a shower also.

This is more like a pilipino island life style, but mostly we are surrounded by palm trees or Nara/acasia trees gigantic trees and we eat outside the house during summer Barbecuing, grilling fish we heard birds chirping, feeling the summer breeze etc

I don't know your situation but I know for window AC, best to do is to build a shade for your AC, just a flat piece of wood big enough to put just above your AC to keep the sun off this help keep your AC unit cooler, we know how much hotter it is in the Sun light, that sun's ray, as a white guy, I will go from white to an Indian to a Mexican quick. Well I hope this helps some of you who are suffering with the heat wave. Anyone who tries it please let me know the results. As always stay safe and God Bless.

Trust me, if it's in Texas, it has central a/c!

In some parts of the US, you could buy a smaller older house for $50K. But you could pay a lot more. TX has no state income tax, but high property taxes ;-(

Being a Texan involves being helpful to neighbors and friends... and even strangers in distress. Whether it be giving out a bottle of water to a thirsty soul or helping with yard work for someone who is unable. You do it with a smile and a happy heart. It's not just in the deed, it's also in the attitude.

Texas has a very diverse set of environments. East Texas (Houston up to Dallas/Fort Worth) is Pine Forest, and Hill Country. There is the Gulf Coast (Galveston (Houston is included in this as well) all the way to South Padre Island) which stretches from Louisiana all the way down to Mexico. Central Texas (Austin/San Antonio) fades from the Pine Forest/ Hill Country and starts into the Scrub Brush. West Texas (West of San Antonio to El Paso) gets into the more Desert like terrain. South Texas (South of San Antonio down to McAllen) is Scrub Brush & Mesquite territory (might feel some what like South Africa). The Panhandle (Lubbock) is where the Desert like terrain meets the Open Prairie. This isn't exact, but gives you a general idea of what type of environment each section of Texas has. Prices will drastically change depending on the area, and how far away from a Big City it is. Crocket is in East Texas in the Pine Forest/Hill Country. That is the only city/town you mentioned, so that is the only one I can point out where it is.

The Dentist I worked with in Germany (US Air Force) was originally from Slovakia and moved to Oklahoma for College/Dental School and joined the Army to get her Dental School paid for and eventually transferred to the Air Force. I traveled through Slovakia a few times and really loved the architectural and natural beauty. That said, We’d love to have you guys in The States!!!

The first house we call a 'ranch style' house, mostly built around the 1960s but all the wood paneling is right out of the '70s. The second looks to be a 'double wide' - factory built and delivered to the site in two sections that are then joined; structure is not as robust as a conventional house but marginally better than a 'mobile home' aka 'house trailer' aka 'single wide.' A 'half bath' is just a toilet and sink; add a tub for a 'full bath' and though the term is not often used, toilet, sink and shower stall is a '3/4 bath.'

A double wide really does not have a whole lot of value like a real house.

We bought a year ago and we are now digging a pond. The whole neighorhood has gotten involved, it is so much fun.

Generally, a half bathroom consists of a toilet and wash basin. It's usually meant as a guest bathroom since a guest won't need a shower\bathtub. Sometimes you will see a 3/4 bathroom which consists of a toilet, wash basin, and shower stall. A full bathroom always has a shower\bathtub.

Those bathrooms with the big tubs also had a separate shower which are nice. All those houses are actually pretty big and eight acres is quite a nice piece of land but small for Texas farms. We would love to have your family here.

Your Darling daughter was so nervous to begin with. By the end she was a calm as a cucumber.

I lived in Texas for 10 yrs and absolutely loved it. I eventually moved back to my hometown to care for my parents or I'd still be there. I'm sure you have multiple people who would help you in identifying where the best place in Texas would be for you to move to. Like Garin, your daughter is delightful, too and she is a beautiful young lady. It's obvious that you and your wife are great parents. I hope you do move to the US. Blessings to you and your family.

The property taxes are coming down a little thanks to our Govenor, but still high for senior citizens on a fixed income!!!

I moved to eastern Oklahoma 12 years ago. You couldnt pay me to go back to where i used to live. Those people are crazy. 😂😂

If this ever becomes more than curiosity for you and decide to come on over, The main thing to keep in mind about Texas is the property taxes. It can be pretty brutal in some areas. If the taxes there are out of your budget but want a similar lifestyle, look into the gulf coast area where the southern tip of Alabama touches the tip if Florida. The taxes are very reasonable, you can still find decent acreage and you can be within a tolerable driving distance from the beach and do some deep sea fishing if that's something you are interested in.

In San Antonio (Leon Valley), there are neighborhoods that allow horses, goats and chickens. Within 2 miles of my place, some large houses on 2-3 acres run under $300,000. In the middle of the city! You talk about convenience. My brother has 32 acres, with cattle and a pond, he placed a large 3 bedroom/2bath mobile home. The agriculture on land gives you a tax exemption. Also an option is to buy an affordable house then buy a lot of land separately.

Where I live agricultural land is basically almost tax free, as long as you milk some goats or cut hay they will let you call it Ag land.

My wife and I own a 3,000 sq ft property in NC on two acres fully fenced in. We paid about $270k for it. Less than 1% property taxes. Stay away from major cities in the US and you can live well regardless your means. We bought it three years ago brand new construction. I'd love to have a neighbor like you to invite over for BBQ! Edit: Anywhere in the US that gets warm has AC. You don't even need to worry about that. It's required.

A young couple probably moved into their new country home back in the 60s/70s. They kept it up but didn't make many upgrades over the years. They just lived simply and raised their kids. Recently, either they passed or were transferred to a nursing home. There was most likely a lot of love and memories made in those homes.

I've lived my whole life, moving back and forth throughout central and East Texas and into central and southern Louisiana. Texas is in many ways a dream with good people, lots to do, fascinating culture, low taxes, low cost of living, and economic opportunity. Every time I go to Louisiana, which I dearly love, I remember just how wonderful Texas is, lol.

There are a lot of places in the US where you can get a lot of land for $200-300k. You're just not going to live in or near a big city. If you want to live on either coast, probably not going to happen, but if you're OK living in the middle of the country there is a LOT of land and not so many people. Just keep pushing the price down as the population density decreases. 30 acres of forest in Michigan with 4BR, 2.5 baths, big outbuilding, near gorgeous lakes, and you're looking at $200-300k if you're willing to live in the northern part of the state and out in the country.

Even in coastal states just go inland an hour and price really drops, in rural SW Oregon land runs about $2000 to $2500 per acre for farm and ranch land.

Holy smokes, I had no idea land was that expensive where you are. I just bought two acres to build on in a small Texas town outside of Houston, and paid just over $5k for the land. Just some advice for anyone thinking about purchasing acreage: think about how much you'll have to mow in the heat of July when it's growing 4 inches/week, and if you REALLY want all that land before you buy it. I couldn't imagine having to take care of like 10+ acres by myself.

Half baths in the US are those that have a toilet and a sink and are intended to be used by guests as opposed to family bathrooms. They are also frequently referred to as "powder rooms" and are usually located within easy access to the living room or family room.

Native Texan here! I too have been looking at small acreages in the country. I love my hometown, but so many people are moving in the cost of living is becoming unable to keep up with. Y'all would LOVE Texas!!!! And you'd have so many wonderful supporters!

The third to last house was also a manufactured house. In fact, it looks like it was a mobile home that had been put up on blocks. Mobile homes can be very problematic to get loans on.

Your houses with an ensuite typically have a shower as well as a tub. They will be a little shower in the corner. If you look closer, in that last house, you'll see it at 9:46 - it's across from the toilet when you are talking about changing the bath. Usually those big deep tubs are also a jacuzzi tub.

I lived in the town that borders Heartland called Forney. If I’m thinking of the same place, Heartland was originally a housing development that just kept growing. It’s basically a huge homeowner association. (That’s why they have a huge water park, it’s part of the HOA) Oh and ALL homes have air conditioning. You can’t really live without one. Todays temp is 40.5C. The heat actually can kill you. Lol that’s why we spend so much time in a pool or lake! We also have water parks everywhere!

NEVER live in a HOA area! No freedom!

For the price you quoted at the beginning of the video (ignoring the Euros to dollars conversion), we basically bought a 1700 square foot new house on a 1/3 of an acre with a fully fenced backyard, a large shed in the back, and a two-car garage. We have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We live just up the street from a park with a lake and deer roam the town. We live in a little country town a couple of hours' drive north of Houston. I know of some Canadians that have moved here and they are loving the town, the schools, and the lower cost of living. Haven't asked them what they think about the heat and Texas summers though! (We are some miles west of the property you mentioned in Crockett. Crockett is a dying town; we looked there at a couple of houses and it just gave off an aroma of decay and desperation.}

A half-bath is basically a toilet and a sink, usually just off the living room, mostly for guests. remember that most of those interior pictures are done with a digital camera, which makes an area look a bit larger than it really is. In hot parts of the country a stone or brick exterior helps to keep the inside cooler than other types if siding.

That second to last home was incredible. That pool table better come with it lol.

Jono, you need to identify the general area in Texas of these properties. Urban Texas is getting hellishly expensive. If you get away from the urban areas by say 100k, then your money will buy twice as much. If you like the European countryside then go down around Uvalde or Leakey into the area called "Little Switzerland". If you''re like me and want gently rolling forested land and a bit drier climate, then go to the upper Bosque river area, one of my favorites. If you want to sweat so much you have to change your underwear three times a day, go to Houston. If you want miles and miles with no trees, go to far west Texas. The secret place is the west side of the Highland Lakes. Far enough from Austin urban pricing hasn't taken over, away from the ritz of the land between the Lakes and Austin, but close enough that if you have to access it, you're an hour away. ANYWHERE in rural Texas, be ready for deer, too many deer, and the issue of feral hogs... they can be shot on sight, in quantity, to feed the buzzards.

I'm from the mountains of North Carolina (Asheville). You should check out. I think you would be pleasantly surprised. Between the weather,land, lifestyle, and the people no one ever wants to leave.

"Is there an air con" - Don't worry, all the houses have air conditioners here. half bathroom means it doesn't have a bath/shower so 2 1/2 baths means 2 bathrooms with showers, and 1 bathroom without a shower

I have lived all over the south. The best place in my opinion is the north east GA area. You don't get the humidity and heat like in the lower Parr of the states. You are a short drive from the mountains or ocean. The foothills of the blueridge mountains are beautiful, open woodlands unlike the thick brushy woods you find elsewhere. My next choice is Louisiana, it is hot but a sportsman paradise.

I love your enthusiasm for Texas! Keep in mind Texas is huge. It is more than 775 miles wide and 800 miles long. You need to know where these places are. When I moved to California from Dallas it took us 15 hrs to just get out of the state! Don't think you can just jump from one location to another to look at houses. Best to buy a map of Texas and plot where these places are. . It takes 15 hours straight to drive across it. Longer to drive the length of it

Land can be either fairly cheap, or expensive depending on where you buy it. As they say in the Real Estate business... Location, Location, Location. In some areas, they were giving lots and houses away for just a few bucks. No kidding. Of course those were in delapidated areas, like Detroit, for example, but you can get a fairly decent sized plot of land in most "average" places for a few grand per acre. I think anyway. Land outside of the major highly demanded areas is fairly cheap.

The way Europe is going, I welcome you here in our country. Need more family oriented people here like you guys. Good luck. :)

Born and raised in Texas! Prices are on the rise for property because so many people/corporations are moving here from places like California! You have a beautiful family and I hope you get to discover Texas!!! Living in Texas or any part of the South the number one must is a big front porch or wrap around porch of the entire house! You can always refurbish the house the way you want it! I live on one acre in the middle of town and love it and it only cost me 45 thousand dollars back in 2000! It's now valued at 200 thousand because of location, location, location!!!

Just bought 8.5 acres with a creek throught it, a little bit of river frontage, and mountain views for $25,000.00 in the Smokey Mountains... plan on building a small Aframe cabin to escape the Florida summers..

When there are large “garden” tubs like that there is generally an entirely separate stand up shower.

We’re in a 3500 sq foot house, 3 car garage with 5 acres and a pond for less than a million. We’re about an hour outside Dallas and plan for it to be our family home. There’s a human desire to have your own land and the freedom it gives you… and in Texas that desire is even stronger!

Also, one final thought....many southern states are currently introducing laws limiting the purchasing of land by all foreigners, Texas and Florida included.

Hi Jono, I just stumbled onto your channel today, it was fun looking at the properties with you. My husband and I originally lived in Los Angelas California and we moved to a little small country town in the state of Georgia. We have 5 acres and really love it very much. Another beautiful place you might really like is North Carolina. It is one of my most favorite states. Especially near the city of Asheville. The area is surrounded by the beautiful Smokey Mountains. Just going out the grocery store there feels like an adventure with mountains every where you look. I sure hope that you get to come to America and have a nice vacation. A tip that we found helpful is see the country in regions. It is so big and almost impossible to see it all in one trip. If you enjoy Texas you might want to make your first trip to the South, and visit to southern states.

That last property was nice! Lots of ranch land in Florida, believe it or not. Lots of horses and cattle raised here and lots of farming as well. Some of those houses were overpriced being they were manufactured homes and not brick, but land can get expensive according to location.

We bought a 2.5 acre home in Florida around 10 years ago for around 240K. We have 3/3 -- but we built a 3-stall barn and we have a beautiful pool and also a hay/equipment shed. It's awesome to come home to your donkey and horses and cats and chickens. Free eggs for life! So fun!

Something to note: if you don't find one with a pond, you can always have people come in and dig one up - then sell the dirt to make some of your money back, wait for rain water to fill it up & fill it up with fish at your leisure. A lot of people do that in louisiana to help ease the cost of buying land.

My wife and I bought our house and 14.5 acres around 20 years ago. The house is 1,750 SQ feet and 2,300 including an attached garage. We paid $55,000 for the whole thing. We had to do allot of work on it but we didn't mind. We have a creek running through it and about 60percent of it is covered in trees. We live in the heart of the Ozarks here in Missouri in the USA. We have two large lakes within a twenty minutes drive. We can be at multiple smaller lakes and numerous creeks and rivers . All in less than an hours drive. Our property is frequented by deer, turkey, bobcats, foxes, snakes, owls , eagles, squirrels and many other types of wildlife. Fishing is everywhere and so is hunting and camping. I love my country .

You like Trees Crockett TX east of there is the Davy Crockett National Forest the Neches river and Rat cliff state park . Went thru this weekend Trees looked great.

These were obviously all very old houses, 1970s or older. It was easy enough to tell by the decor but also by the number and size of the windows. These little windows would be a total dealbreaker for me. My sister bought a four-bedroom, 2-1/2 bath fairly modern home on 4 acres in the mountains in Southern California for around 1 million dollars.

I ran into a bunch of South Africans having a braai on the beach in Port Aransas, TX. They were on contracts to ranches and farms around the state and seemed highly knowledgeable and hard working. You’ll fit in perfectly once you buy a truck. Come on over!!

The house you liked the best is about 20 minutes from where I live. It's a nice community with good school.

Take in account the bigger the house the more money to maintain and electric bills are high. You can have a shower and your Mrs can have the tub. If you do get in the bath shower first. Some houses have mud rooms to shower before entering the home.

One more point, there is probably a Bass Pro shop near one of these homes as well so you can stock up for your fishing in the pond.

I have land 25 miles from Crockett Texas. This is the beautiful Piney Woods of East Texas. Crockett is the County seat of Houston County Texas and has about 5000 people.

Don't worry about the bathtubs! It would be unusual to have a bathtub without a shower also. The master bath in our home has a shower with a separate tub.

I grew up with horses, one in particular, and I love Heartland too. You definitely need a riding mower -lol!

The fireplace has a insert in it. You still use it the same way but it helps to keep the heat from just going up the chimney plus they usually have automatic dampers and blowers built in.

I moved to the Arkansas Ozarks 10 years ago and bought a three-bedroom house with a separate shop, and garage on 5 acres of land with woods out in the country, I have deer and wild turkeys along with many other types of critters, I harvest two or three deer a year for meat, I can’t see another house from my house. I bought my house built in 1995 for $117,000, it’s worth about 175,000 now.😊

Most houses have 8 ft ceilings. Plenty tall for most people.

In Wisconsin we have red barns everywhere, we are a heavy agricultural and dairy industry.

Bathrooms in US: Bathroom= Toilet + Sink + Bathtub (typically Tub w/ shower head) 3/4 Bathroom = Toilet + Sink + Shower 1/2 Bathroom = Toilet + Sink These are minimums - some bathrooms have multiple sinks, some have a separate bathtub and shower.

I just bought a 120 year old farm house on 3 acres. 2400 sq ft home with 4 bedrooms of good size, 2 bathrooms, Living room dining room, kitchen and full basement with concrete floors. A 2 car block garage with a 2 bedroom full bath living room and eat in kitchen. A 50' by 20' shop and paid 112,000. 3 ponds bordering, deer and turkey abound. takes me 6 hours to cut the grass on a tractor...

I recently found your channel. I love listening to your commentary. I would love to learn more about Slovakia through you guy's eyes- like the school's, food, houses, landscape and etc.

Sometimes those pictures of ponds are taken when they just happen to have water in it from a relatively recent rain. There also are times when they are empty. Obviously, there is so much to consider but it seems like Texas would benefit from having your family join them. There's plenty of room for nice people after all.

If you want lots of trees, focus your search east of Dallas and north of Houston. There is about 150 square miles of forested countryside in this part of the state.

You see a lot of wood paneling in the countryside because there are not many sheetrock hangers outside the city .

When checking out property like that, I would want to know how close is the nearest hardware/lumberyard is, and also if a H-E-B grocery store is close by.
