Those kicks are insane. I see all types of body types too doing a straight legged kick nearly perfectly. Awesome. It’s really remarkable to see dance in these different and totally foreign (to me) cultures. I’m just a middle aged dude who in his younger days used to go dancing nearly every week and it’s just so cool to see how dance can be integral to an amazing culture like the Zulus.

Zulu culture and people are concentrated in Southern Africa, whereas most people kidnapped to modern day US from the shores of Africa were from Western Africa (mostly modern day Nigeria and Benin) and Western Central Africa, mostly the coast of modern day Cameroon and Congo. If you want to find out more about the culture and language your enslaved ancestors came from, I would suggest getring more into Western African cultures. The presence of Okra in Soul Food, jambalaya as an adaption of Jollof Rice, there are some culinary histories tied together there. The Talking Drum from Yoruba culture shaped modern day hip hop and dancehall music. The Gullah Geche of the Carolina Coastal region maintained more of their indigenous west African customs than enslaved people who where brought to the mainland. An English based creole with heavy influences frim westbafricsn languages is still spoken there to this day, and the Gulla Geche maintain some Western African namjng traditions, like choosing the first nsme of a newborn baswd innthw day of the week they were born - a practise still in use in modern day Ghana.

Then don't do it. Leave it to the zaoli practitioners to perform this high art. You can fantasize you're doing it while you watch them perform. I'm only half-joking here. Experts in physical exercise say that you can even get benefit from exercise with all movements performed in your imagination. Kind of a MindBody hack.
