@@user-qf2zv1hu1vThat’s obviously part of the dance….. Are you well?
Those kicks are insane. I see all types of body types too doing a straight legged kick nearly perfectly. Awesome. It’s really remarkable to see dance in these different and totally foreign (to me) cultures. I’m just a middle aged dude who in his younger days used to go dancing nearly every week and it’s just so cool to see how dance can be integral to an amazing culture like the Zulus.
Amazing and powerful!!! Please keep these beautiful dances alive and constant. Don't let this ever go away. It is fantastic to see and hear such great heritage that is grand and vibrant!

There are Thousands of different cultures, languages and ethnicities in Africa. It is a whole continent, the 2nd largest in population and area. There is no singular African culture, like there is no singular Asian culture.
I would have loved to watch Zulu Chief Nelson Mandala dance - the warrior dance. I would be respectfully honored to have watched a leading Zulu Chief represent his world. YA!

Nelson Mandela was not not a Zulu Chief nor even Zulu. He was Xhosa, but your sentiments are appreciated.

Check out the stick fighting... quite impressive 😉
I can only imagine the Zulu that fought at Rourke’s Drift against the British were utterly frightening when they danced before battle… the drums, the singing and chants, the dance would have been an awesome sight.

It's a beautiful dance and culture but My only problem is that you put this dance on FF making it seem better that it actually is
Doesn't explain why they kick the leg in the air.
I knee-d myself in the nose once and broke it while dancing. This brings back memories

These are the roots of hip hop and pop dance
I guess this is one of the lost cultures that we Blacks here in America will never partake in or understand..

Zulu culture and people are concentrated in Southern Africa, whereas most people kidnapped to modern day US from the shores of Africa were from Western Africa (mostly modern day Nigeria and Benin) and Western Central Africa, mostly the coast of modern day Cameroon and Congo. If you want to find out more about the culture and language your enslaved ancestors came from, I would suggest getring more into Western African cultures. The presence of Okra in Soul Food, jambalaya as an adaption of Jollof Rice, there are some culinary histories tied together there. The Talking Drum from Yoruba culture shaped modern day hip hop and dancehall music. The Gullah Geche of the Carolina Coastal region maintained more of their indigenous west African customs than enslaved people who where brought to the mainland. An English based creole with heavy influences frim westbafricsn languages is still spoken there to this day, and the Gulla Geche maintain some Western African namjng traditions, like choosing the first nsme of a newborn baswd innthw day of the week they were born - a practise still in use in modern day Ghana.

Then don't do it. Leave it to the zaoli practitioners to perform this high art. You can fantasize you're doing it while you watch them perform. I'm only half-joking here. Experts in physical exercise say that you can even get benefit from exercise with all movements performed in your imagination. Kind of a MindBody hack.
