South Africa's Political Open Secret

This video examines the historical challenges faced by African National Congress - ANC Presidents in winning the presidency of South Africa without securing support from KwaZulu-Natal. It also delves into the demographics of the two pivotal provinces, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
The 1994 and 2024 elections in South Africa reveal significant patterns in the country's political landscape. In 1994, Nelson Mandela's African National Congress (ANC) failed to win all nine provinces, losing the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. Three decades later, in the 2024 election, the ANC, led by Cyril Ramaphosa, experienced a dramatic decline, securing only 40.32% of the votes. This decline forced the ANC into a coalition government with the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA).
Both elections highlighted the significance of KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape as swing provinces, crucial in determining the overall election outcome. In 1994, the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) led by Mangosuthu Buthelezi won KwaZulu-Natal, while the National Party (NP) led by FW De Klerk won the Western Cape. In 2024, the DA, led by John Steenhuisen, won the Western Cape, and the newly formed MKP, led by Jacob Zuma, won KwaZulu-Natal.
The notion of "voting along tribal lines" emerged, especially in KwaZulu-Natal, where the MKP won IsiZulu-speaking districts. Critics argued this trend was not exclusive to KZN, noting that the DA's success in the Afrikaans-speaking Western Cape mirrored this pattern. The 2024 election results mirrored the 1994 map, suggesting a return to historical voting patterns and highlighting persistent political divisions and realignments in South Africa.
The rise of the MKP within six months, largely due to Jacob Zuma's popularity, and the ANC's need for regional support, exemplified the changing dynamics in South African politics. Despite the ANC's historical strength, regional candidates like Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Zweli Mkhize from KZN failed to secure the presidency. KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape have remained battleground provinces, reflecting a blend of regional loyalties and shifting political alliances. Nelson Mandela's loss in these provinces in 1994 symbolized the ongoing compromise between diverse political and economic visions for South Africa's future.

Correction: The ANC recieved 39.76% not 40.32%. I know its an honest mistake, due to IEC website not updating the percentages. Good video

KZN was always IFP or ANC, then IFP faction named NFP was formed and people voted for it. Now with MK took votes from both IFP and ANC.

that doesn't make sense. south africa as a concept has only existed since 1910. the ANC was formed in 1912. before that it was a group of different terrirories with rivaling power struggles, both local & european

@@lm_b5080 Immediate the Dutch set foot on the Cape in 1652, and immediately set out to wipe the natives from their lands, the struggle for the freedom they had always had, had begun. Starting from the Western cape and into the interior, Europeans sought to supplant the natives from their lands and met with resistance. The same thing you see in Palestine since a fake Israel was created by the British. Robben Island as a prison did not start with Mandela for that matter, it began way back as soon as freedom fighters were incarcerated there from the Western Cape.

There are 54 African countries. Only TWO of them are still ruled by european and Khazari jewish settlers either directly or by funding parties they control. This is an anamoly, which will end sooner than later. Namibia and South africa will be rescued from the people who invaded and colonized this 150000 year old cultures! 2nd. Everyone refuses to pay attention to the eleven million registered voters who refused to vote, but voted in 2019! p.s. There are african led parties, who have been funded by the dutch/anglos and khazari jewish, in order to water down the african vote. This will not work in 2026 or 2029! Further, Rhamaphosa will NOT finish his term!
