“For most of the Soundgarden tours, I didn’t drink before shows. I couldn’t sing well if I’d been drinking. But at the end of the 1992 Lollapalooza tour, I decided to drink before we went on. We were ending that tour in Los Angeles, and we hated that because we thought the audience would be nothing but industry people. So I decided to drink to just get through those shows. Well, it turned out the audiences were great-they were real fans-and it was awesome.

I always loved the backstory of 'Big Dumb Sex', it's basically about the meaningless stupid sex songs that hair bands made all the time. Just a funny middle finger to how ridiculous it was. God, I love Soundgarden. Also, Outshined is a sexy song without even trying.

Chris definitely had that type of sense of humour in his writing. The same album was gonna be titled Louder than fuck, but his manager that became his wife put a stop to that fast. lol Get on the snake is another one of those songs, and later, Jesus Christ pose and Limo wreck were too. It was obviously about poseur rockers, and limo wreck, he had said, was something absurd you don't see like the usual car wrecks.

Unfortunately, the kids you speak of will never understand. They have attention spans of a fucking fence and are more concerned with keeping their social media accounts up to date. I don’t believe there will ever be another musical explosion like what happened in the late 80s and early 90s with these bands.

I saw the Cleveland stop of this tour at Blossom Music Center. Lush was off the tour for some reason so The Cranberries opened. I know a lot of people love Dolores O'Riordan, but my friends and I had dropped a couple hits of acid and her voice was nails on a chalkboard. Anyway, just as Pearl Jam was taking the stage it started to pour, and a bunch of us on the lawn rushed the pavilion. By the time Evenflow started my friends and I were past the security guys and down in the mosh pit. We stayed there for the rest of the PJ set. Then Soundgarden came out. Absolutely one of the most epic performances I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of shows in my 55 years. The rawness and the energy was like nothing I've ever seen. Pure talent and love of their work. There will never be another like Soundgarden.

God, I WAS THERE. I can't even describe the energy of that day. It had been raining. Shitty Pacific northwest summer weather. The pit was pure fucking MUD! L7 opened, Pearl Jam came on and opened with Even Flow and the crowd got DANGEROUS! A mad rush toward the stage and people were falling and getting hurt. I was close to the front and it was terrifying and exhilarating all at once! You had to lock arms with whoever you were with or they were getting carried away by the crowd. I've literally never experienced anything like it to this very day and I've been to hundreds of shows. Chris came on with that raincoat it was so fucking epic! The raw energy of these guys was CRAZY. It was such a fun thing to be a part of as a Seattle kid. I also recall the pit was pure death for Ministry, haha. We watched from the hill and smoked some bud. The Jim Rose Circus Sideshow was there too. (All you Gen-X Seattle kids remember...) RHCP were pure fire as well.We drove alongside their bus on the way out of the show, trying to get Flea's attention. God, those were the days! I still have my ticket.

My throat was slashed (not like dieing lol) but I will never forget being pulled up and felt like I was tossed in the air. Next thing I was on right side of stage going down steps while security was making sure I was ok. It was a birthday ticket. One of the best days of my teen years. I think I had just as much fun walking home that night. 😂

My first time seeing SG. What a day! Showed up with no ticket, ran into a buddy outside that had an extra, got through the gate and the band started. I ran along the left side perimeter of the crowd, next to the blackberry bushes and managed to get a decent spot fairly close to the stage. Stayed there until Ice Cube came out then wandered back to see the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow. Watched the closers RHCP from the back so I didn't have to deal with the mob leaving.

The most talented of all the Seattle bands and that really says something because there was immense talent across the entire Seattle scene but soundgardens skills as musicians were a cut above the rest . Alice in chains to me were the only band that could rival soundgarden in this regard but even then soundgarden were just a little better. Chris and Layne were easily the best singers or the Seattle bands and both deserve to be listed among the best skngers of all time.
