    Great video ! You have the best coverage of speakers you review! I just had my five-month old Motion plus fail. A great speaker, but the Left channel died. I just emailed Anker about that. I wonder if the Sony is more reliable. I wonder if there is anyway to compare reliability, not really I suppose, unless one is commonly failing. BTW what mic do you use for recording the speakers?, just curious. Sony 'auto eq'? I don't know what that is exactly.. that seems like a conceptual fail, if it changes settings from song to song. The best eq for any signal is the best for all, as a general rule and starting point. If you want to tailor a track beyond how the produces of that track made it, that's a different thing. A brilliant innovation would be automatic loudness control, an automatic tone control that varied with playback volume to try to keep tone more equal across all volumes. Something like the motion plus could benefit from that. As well as some kind of power limiter that can be enabled to limit breakup at full power setting.

  • @alanrossreviews

    @alanrossreviews

    well thats the first motion plus with failed driver i heard about. im always tinkering with my setup so everything changes and evolves. i used a pair of rode nt55s in this video. you can never have true auto eq since it depends on the room you play in or even outdoors. the response changes all the time. neutral is always the starting point indoors but you rarely hear it as neutral due to acoustics unless you are in a very well treated room. smiley face tends to be best outdoors. also why headphones do not have neutral response, these days the target is a flat speaker in a decent room. and this all supposes the engineer got his mix right.

    Very interesting test! At low volumes I liked the xb32 better, obviously the anker kicks arse at high volumes but I don't often turn my stereo pair of xb32's higher than 50 percent. If I need volume I use a stereo pair of Bose s1 pro's which sound massive for there size. I guess a stereo pair is beneficial too for the xb32's being able to produce more volume but staying under the threshold of where the sound falls apart. I have ordered a stereo pair of motion plus so I will have to do a video comparison and put it up on the tube when they arrive

    Sony and jbl have been dropping the ball in all kinds of unique ways the last few yrs. I'm hoping for a xb33 review from you because if that don't beat the anker, Ill jump the big name ship and never go back. My flip 3 still works just fine it's just missing low end and that's getting more and more noticeable. Great comparison.

    You mention that the XB32 has more power. The anker on max volume is 10 watts max per woofer. To get 10 watts on a 4 ohm woofer, you need 6.3V over it, so in the anker a boost converter is used, so actually the power could be the same. Furthermore, watts do not tell the whole story, because if bass is reduced the speaker can play louder, since the most power is in the bass frequencies.

    the xb32 has not improved much at all even with the new eq sony made to make it sound more deeper and more highs(well how could it sound better without tweeters) at higher volumes it just destroys the sound quality with vocals and highs sounding like gargling... im stuck with my xb30 but still loving how it sounds. the xb30 can beat the xb32 in loudness and sound i have my eyes on the soundcore motion+ because of its nice sound quality and can even go on par with larger or same sized bluetooth speakers for just a $100.
