The BEST PORTABLE SPEAKER I've Ever Heard | Soundcore Motion X600

Ғылым және технология

The Soundcore Motion X600 has a lot going for it. Incredible build quality, app support, great sound, but the big difference here is the addition of spatial audio to the speaker. It sounds fantastic. Better than any $200 portable speaker should. And the spatial audio is the secret sauce.

    I ended up with Soundcore 2 speaker to replace my 10+ year old Bose SoundLink mini because of its battery finally letting go. Replacing it is quite a hassle from the research I've done since you basically have to take the thing apart and do soldering. But mainly there's no direct Bose battery replacement, just a bunch of Chinese knockoffs from Amazon. And speaking about knockoffs, I actually tried to buy a new SoundLink but Bose doesn't sell them anymore and I got stiffed getting a complete fake of Ebay. Anyways, I got my Anker from Walmart for $50 bucks. Figured you can't go wrong. And obviously the sound quality is nowhere near as good as the Bose, I was pleasantly surprised with ease of use and quality for the price. But again sound quality is not the best therefore its more of a audiobook, video watching use than music. That's why I'm looking for something a bit better. Looks like this X600 would be a good bet but I wish they haven't done that handle thing the way they did. Spoils the look for me.

I noticed your comment about the default EQ being very bass heavy but didn’t hear anything more about your EQ tinkering.

    I love this speaker. Last week I went all in and got a Sony SRS-XG300, JBL Xtreme 3, LG XBoom 360 (xo3q), Marshall Middleton, and the Soundcore MotionX600 just so I could do a deep dive and really figure out my favorite. They all sounded fantastic but the Soundcore just did a little something extra to the music and added a few more layers in the Treble that the others didn't. At the end of the day I actually wound up keeping the LG Xboom 360 cause it was the most sonically consistent of the group where no sound ever got overpowered by another and the music never overpowered the vocals. This was the only thing I noticed about the Soundcore depending on what I was listening to, which was why I didn't keep it. Out of the group the best sounding overall to me was the LG and not by a large margin at all mind you, but I will say this: if you are someone who primarily listens to beat heavy music like Hip Hop, EDM, instrumentals, or just doesn't put alot of value in vocal clarity then the Soundcore is very VERY hard to beat especially for its price

    Normally, I would agree with you but this little BT box is the highest fidelity I’ve ever heard from a portable bluetooth speaker. The sound is wayyy bigger than the size would have you think. Yep, prepare to be impressed by this little badass. I could almost live without my mini desktop separates and just use this. Only negative is, it can be a bit too bright on certain recordings and though the EQ helps, you can still hear a hint of sharpness. Granted, this can be because I have it turned on axis.

    @@martin3708 haven't tried the first two, but it's better than the Motion Boom and Boom plus in every way for sound quatily. But they're not really speakers to compare against one another because they are designed for different purposes. The X600 is more of a hifi speaker with spatial audio capabilities, while the Motion Boom is a party speaker. I enjoy them both.

  • @alanrossreviews

    @alanrossreviews

    10 ай бұрын

    @@PAINFULLYHONESTTECH In terms of the motion boom, the boom plays much deeper so right there goes that statement that the x600 is better in everyway. If you buy two motion booms and play them in stereo they blow the x600 away including in real soundstage not the airy phase shifting that spatial audio uses along with the upward driver. Two booms are actually cheaper than one x600. I have to ask dude how you describe this as a HiFi speaker? Presumably you are using it in spatial mode which has little to do with accuracy and more to do with psychoacoustics to trick your ears which inevitably means a non-accurate frequency response. In terms of the x600 bass, its simply a narrow mids push, nothing hifi about that and many people have major bass distortion with this speaker including myself. I think the fact you describe the motion boom as a party speaker shows me you are simply someone who doesn’t like deep bass. So often I see this, that someone describes a speaker as being hifi like simply because it sounds crisp (due to being overly bright) and has lightweight bass. But that’s not hifi, there is zero accuracy in that. I note you still haven’t clarified what speakers you compared this to that meant you state it as the best ever speaker? Its not a patch on the stormbox Bast which is a $200 speaker. so not even the best $200 speaker let alone best speaker ever. I guess that was just for clickbait? Im sorry but you talk about reviewing audio for 10 years but started your video by describing the upward firing driver as a sky channel 😁 its a driver that faces up, lol, nothing groundbreaking here and why are you calling it a sky channel like its some sort of new technology? you got the speaker for free and are using their affiliate links, shouldn't this video be labelled as paid promotion??

    It's nice to have customizable eq on the app (thought it's obviously poorly designed from seeing you trying to use it) but it's stupid that there's no on-the-box tone control at all for QUICK changes. Does it have a headphone jack? No? Really stupid. Also, these devices that have non-replaceable internal rechargeable batteries turn into door-stops when the battery dies. More toxic landfill junk.

    There's a sponsored bug that runs on the screen at the beginning of every sponsored video. No one gets any kind of editorial say over what I say in my videos unless I actually get something wrong. I find that the people who do give disclaimers in their videos make me more nervous than those that don't. At the end of the day, I don't do anything in sponsored videos that I wouldn't do in unsponsored videos. There's always a conflict when the power dynamic is out of balance in the way they are when money is involved. I'm an adult. I can maintain my credibility in the face of commerce.

    Had mine over a week now. Fantastic bit of kit, unbelievably loud and clear for its size and I have a few Bluetooth speakers. I would compare the audio quality with an Echo Studio for the spatial and bass. The buttons for the bass and spatial don't need to be there, because in honesty, it doesn't sound good with them off, a lot better out there, but when they're on there's no comparison.

    Please fiddle with your noise gate and compression a bit on your mic. I can hear some background noise whenever you're talking (fan? heater? ac? not sure what), then a hard cut to silence when you stop. I really want to listen to you, but that's all I can hear.

    Soundcore - just like Wiim, Fiio and dozens of other Chinese audio brands - can do it for the price because they don't pay the wages we expect in developed countries (offtopic, but China and India are still considered developing countries). They also have efficiencies of scale that Western manufacturers can only dream of. The question then becomes how much of the cost of an iPhone made in China is the dreaded 'Apple tax' ? A debate best left for another day, but you DID ask how Soundcore do it for the money.

    You've got to understand that what you're hearing is coming through a mic designed to pick up voice in a video setting. It's not going to be accurate in hearing everything. I provided the samples so you can hear the difference between the modes. I haven't heard the JBL you mentioned.
