Thank you for that first Q&A. My decor decision maker ended my mid range AV receiver once we move in together. And we have been settling sound bars since. Maybe I’m not missing anything lol keep up the great work

I am willing to continue to support the You Asked videos because you never when you might realize that you have misperceived something about video or audio. The last TV we purchased was a Sony X90J 65" because people in my house have a bad habit of pausing stuff for 30 minutes or more and that would destroy an OLED TV. BUT THE VIDEO PROCESSING IS FANTASTIC.! Keep up the good work and don't forget to nudge Andrew every once in awhile to keep him on his toes!
Love this series. Keep this up thank you
thanks a lot Caleb, I love car audio also and the question segment was good 👍
Keep this video series coming Caleb! Also, I'm glad that you're gonna be reviewing the Sony A80L soon since I plan on buying it next year.
Thanks for answering my questions!
I absolutely agree with you reviewing flagship model TV'S first. If you review a lower model first I will constantly be wondering: does the flagship model resolve that "problem ". You know: does it have more inputs, can it get brighter, does it have better resolution, ect. For 20% more dollars can I have a resolution to all this models issues.
Thank you. You and your team are the best. Great info and I always feel smarter after watching your clips. Keep up the good work.

This is the only series of videos where I am liking every video. The content is so good and you deserve the recognition.
I was gonna say that it’s taken you kind of a long time to review a C3 or a 80L. I for one would probably value a review of those TVs over TCL’s latest mid-range snooze fest. But your channel is still top-notch. Not gonna throw any shade.
I love this series, I'm looking for a replacement for the harmony elite remote
I love the “You asked” format
Premium TV reviews get higher views in the same way most of us watch car reviews for the latest Ferrari or Lamborghini. We're never going to buy one but it's nice to see what's on offer and dream about having the best of the best. I COULD buy a £3000 TV but couldn't justify spending over £1000 at a push. I'd love an LG C3 but my current TV is 2 years old, LG 49 nano, and although it's never wowed me, there's nothing wrong with it, it's good for a few more years. My next TV will be an OLED when the time and price is right
I had a sound system worth almost 20 thousand dollars, I sold it because it took up the money and I bought a Samsung Soundbar Q990C and I am much happier now than before, you can hear much more, the sound separation left right back front is incredible, this is for movies y video games not for music
Re soundbar vs AV receiver and speakers, i am spoiled in that i live alone and have the luxury of a dedicated home cinema room which has taken many years to be able to afford and build into as perfect as i can make it. In my bedroom i use a soundbar and have tried and rejected many that just didn't deliver the experience i expected, in my opinion you have to be prepared to pay for the upper range models to avoid listening fatigue, many go over the top to give an in your face experince that you quickly become tired of. If you have high ceilings don't expect a soundbar to compete with in-ceiling height speakers they rely on reflecting the Atmos effects by bouncing off the rooms surfaces, too large a gap and the effects are just not there.
Good Job!
Great overview on soundbars vs AV Receivers. I totally agree it's about speaker quality and "you get what you pay for". Love my Sony A9 system and worth the price.

@@Sas-wk9lj bass vs surround? That makes sense....🤣
I've had a surround system of one sort or another since the 90's. With a bit of knowledge (or a friend), purchase and setup is pretty straightforward. Even the cost can be much lower if you buy used (again, a bit of knowledge is necessary). However, a decent AV setup will absolutely destroy a soundbar. It's well worth the extra effort and space it takes up if you care about immersion and quality.
The best plus of a receiver is constantly able to upgrade. You can start with just a receiver and good front speaker then get the rest little at a time as you have the money. It’s so versatile.

YES to car audio reviews!
bass department is the weakest link in soundbar systems while Dolby Atmos is the weakest link in mid range (2 to 3 grands worth) custom HT systems. So, thats the trade off to summarise between the two.
I have a really nice TV (Sony A80K) but I live in an apartment. The walls are thick, but I still listen to my TV with headphones instead of a sound system because I'm afraid of disturbing somebody. The dream is to someday get a good soundbar and speaker setup, but I don't want to spend that kind of money only to find out that the bass is maybe too much and I end up getting on my neighbor's nerves.

That's how I was. I bought a really nice Martin Logan subwoofer before I moved into an apartment 10 years ago, never really got to use it like I wanted. Now that I'm in a house, I'm finally getting my monies worth and WOW was I missing out.
I love these videos
Really looking forward to the longer SB vs Receiver video.
This was great, thanks Caleb. For the next episode I'd like to ask; Roughly what percentage of content actually utilises the height channels in Dolby Atmos? Is it a worthwhile investment yet from say a 5.1 system or is all a bit gimmicky or still in infancy?
Sound bar vs AV receiver is exactly the question I’m struggling with right now! Can’t wait for your deep dive on this Caleb!

If you have the space go for a receiver, you need to spend a lot of money to get a soundbar that can begin to compete with a good seperates system.
@Sas-wk9lj
10 ай бұрын
if you're bass savvy, receiver is the way to go. You got the option to choose your sub and if you wanna hook dual sub. But your surround and atmos effect may not be that great depending on your budget of 1 to 2 grands. If you're good with okayish bass, but want to have great surround and atmos experience, then may soundbars are way to go.
@Barbarapape

THe only problem with soundbars is that you still have to accomodate surround speakers for Atmos to work, i would still go the receiver route and upgrade when funds permit.@@Sas-wk9lj
@versaleyang

Another way to make the decision easier is, do you listen to a lot of music? If so, an AV receiver with proper speakers are much better, if not then a good sound bar set is sufficient (though cheaper sound bars are never good enough for either music or movies)
@Barbarapape

A fair point, having wasted a fortune trying to find a good soundbar, i still prefer seperates if you have the sapce and funds. You can upgrade your sepearyes when funds permit, cheap soundbars are a waste of money.@@versaleyang
It was Caleb's review because of which I was compelled to buy the SVS SB16 Ultra. It's not used for couple of years since I was converted to soundbar user because of space constraints. With my Samsung Q990B, never going back to receivers again. Well the bass fails to do justice to movies like Tron Legacy but that is ok
Regarding Speakers/AVR vs Soundbar, a pair of powered bookshelf loudspeakers offer the same practically, price, and convenience, as even a low priced soundbar, while still offering higher quality/performance. Most offer output connections for a subwoofer.
I was surprised that Marques didnt know about Kef audio, as well. I hope he sees this and reaches out for insight. That would be a nice collab
I just completed my setup of q950a with s95b and I think the sound is out of this world when it comes to surround, sound is in the room instead of coming from speakers, even height is good considering my ceiling is 16ft high!

I like the question format. New questions: when will we get real / full 2.1 receivers? Why is it so hard to find headphones that do Bluetooth and connect to PC and xbox/ps5?
I've always loved Kef would love to hear them in a car
Caleb, love your new "You Asked" videos, great hearing from other users / audiophiles/ videophiles and general questions, opinions, keep it going. PLEASE. I for one can't wait for your take on "Soundbars vs AV Receivers. I think of myself "wrongly or rightly" as a purist. If you have the space, wires, room, wired speakers are the way to go. Just like ethernet, wired ethernet is always better than WI-FI, but I know sometimes that's not an option. Remember the days when soundbars were just marketing hype, now they seem to have evolved into a valued option.

As someone who for 25 years has had various TWO-CHANNEL setups, currently consisting of floorstanding Bowers & Wilkins speakers paired with a high-end 9.2-channel AV receiver, the question I'm always getting back to is this: Would a soundbar, even one such as the Sonos Arc (without surrounds), not be a step down in terms of sound "fullness" given the "tinny" sound it delivers?
I watch your reviews on TVs. I normally purchase TVs based on them, especially when there are sales.
did you change camera. This video is so so sharp - awesome
Sometimes i wonder why doesn't a company release a wireless home theater setup. Big speakers, a lot of power, and atmos/dts:x. Just wireless for those of us who don't want to deal with all the wires, but love a plug and play solution.
I decided on the Denon 2700H as it allows me to hook up my consoles, blueray, vhs and TV. Speakers are Jamo 5.1.2. yep, more cash than a soundbar, but I couldn't hook up all that I want to. Nothing with RCA outputs and maybe 1 gaming console, many sound bars will do just fine. As far as TV speakers go, my Hisense 65U8H is the first TV I've owned that doesn't require an AVR or soundbar for better than decent audio.
I would prefer separates, but my wife likes easy to use soundbar system. I have the Sony 7000 with the 5 series in both the satellite and sub. A80j for the TV and a Sony 4k bluray player. Keep up the good work, always interested to know your opinion on all aspects of home entertainment.
Thank you for this video yes please compare the Nakamichi Dragon vs AV Receiver + KEF Speakers! Please give us the dates. My question is why can’t they just make large monitors
Zerg swarm and Borg collective 😊
When the C3 comes in can you review it with the recommended LG SC9S 3.1.3 ch Soundbar with Subwoofer? Enjoying your videos, Cheers.
Btw - I have the new Nakamichi Dragon Soundbar system and I have found that the rear surrounds have a problem staying connected unless the overall volume reaches a certain level. If you set the volume lower in the scale, one of the rear surround will blink blue in the Bluetooth status on top until you increase the overall level. Nothing is blocking the "path" and all of the exact distances have been updated in the customization menus. Just fyi.

I have the vizio m51a-h6 in my living room with a tcl r655. Then just got a tcl q7 and a onkyo tx-nr6050 with the klipsch 5.1.4 reference cinema in my basement running it as 5.1.2. All are pretty decent especially on a budget. The onkyo I am still working on getting it tuned in and I like that I can upgrade the speakers later might regret not getting a 9.2 but that substantially jumps the price. The vizio sounds great and it's easier to set up and less wires. The soundbar cost about 230 and the basement setup was about 740
Up for a car audio vid. If so only some colabs. Just got an almost brand new Mazda CX-30, the high-end version with a great BOSE speaker system. Especially for that car-price range. You'd love it.
Caleb - can you please add to the list of questions: how much picture degradation do you get if you go from a 75" tv to a 85" tv. One of the other KZread channels advises against this but part of me still wants a 85" tv! Thanks!
Wooo, shoutout to Dirty Loops!
Goosing away!
Had a nice AV system but my wife has so many game systems to switch, she would get confused and yell for HELP! Swapped it for a Polk sound bar, wrote up a procedure for each game and…ah…peace reigns! But I have to say, at ~$800 give or take, it sounds pretty decent.
Haha I agree with the speaker question!!! I've said that before, I JUST WANT A 65" 4K HDR MONITOR!! 🤣🤣🤣 I've been playing STARFIELD on my 50" tv and Pioneer 5.1 AVR and speakers. Hey Caleb, you are doing great Thank you for answering my questions Love from India 🇮🇳 Devendra Soni By the way I have some more curiosity so some more questions are coming to you
I’m curious if having e-ARC and Dolby Atmos is a must if you are getting into a surround setup vs just a sound bar? I’m looking at getting a Klipsch Cinema 600 with the intention of adding the 3’s later on. Is not having e-ARC and Atmos going to lead to a lesser sound setup?
I just would like to vote against the car audio idea. Caleb is already super busy! I don’t think he should over-extend himself even more, even though he thinks he would like to!
HDMI 2.1 already supports more than 4K 120 or 8K 60… It’s called DSC… You can get up to 8K 120 10bit HDR 4.4.4 easily…
Caleb is easily my favorite Canuck.
back in the day I picked up a Bravia LCD(when it was a thing) and a Yamaha 5 speaker package. Nothing wrong with it as well it's Yamaha. It's an all wired system incl the sub. But now I've upgraded to a Bravia LED and love the picture quality. But the receiver just misses the mark by fractions for the audio video sync. I know it's time then to consider upgrading the receiver. But going to a sound bar system means I've got Yamaha speakers that just sit there. But if I go with a new Sony receiver, I can keep the Yamaha speakers. Just need to get banana clips(odd name for them) to attach the sub.
When Hisense ux review coming very interested with how well the u8 performed

As someone who for 25 years has had various TWO-CHANNEL setups, currently consisting of floorstanding Bowers & Wilkins speakers paired with a high-end 9.2-channel AV receiver, the question I'm always getting back to is ... would a soundbar, even one such as the Sonos Arc (without surrounds), not be a step down in terms of sound "fullness" given the "tinny" sound it delivers?
. I went from receivers to soundbars and back to receivers. Soundbars truly lack the spatial coverage and depth of bass. I have receivers in my basement, bedroom and family room each with 7.4.4, 7.4.2 and 7.4.4 respectively. When I finally retire, I will downsize but will always have a receiver.
Here is an add on question. Can you explain what an atmos soundbar system vs trying to do speakers like Klipsch with atmos built in or overhead? If you are going sound what about streaming a movie vs physical from a player like a Panasonic 820 and what is the difference
Decor deputy 😆☠️
Any recommendations on best soundbars without sub? Moving into condo so having a loud sub not good option lol
Interesting Q&A. Thank you! I'm confused on the WISA comment, when you said that in the case of using WISA with Klipsch, it can perform like a receiver and passive speakers, but you were showing the Sevens and Nines. Are those WISA certified, or will they work with WISA? Or was that just the Klipsch that you had photos handy for?
@Caleb_Denison
10 ай бұрын
Sorry, that was just a B-roll choice because the actual WISA enabled Klipsch speakers for which we did have B-roll didn’t look great. The Sevens and Nines are not WISA. Great catch, though!
im looking for some excellent speaker for my gaming monitor to use my ps5/ ps4 /cpu what is you're suggestion or should I be looking in a sound bar instead. also what speaker do you have/using what's the make and model.
Did you notice? a part of his hair is sticking out from back of his head which is kinda cute, I too get that sometimes 😂
I have a nice Marantz receiver, but I really need to save up and upgrade my speakers. They are just “good enough”.

I think if I had to start over again I would go with a sound bar. Rather than have speakers all over the room. I now seem to prefer a more streamlined look and feel deco.

I don't have enough room in my living room for a big system with recievers so I've just bought the Samsung q9 90c with rears. My couch is hard against the wall and I've put the rears basically right in line with both ears at each corner of the room. I have elevated the rears up around 4 feet up high to try and get the most clarity from them , is it best to have them up higher or would ear level be better? Reason i put them up higher is because when someone who visits seated next to me , the sound seems better from obscure of the person next to me ?!
Bobby Sherman? Oh well... Easy Come, Easy Go!
When will HIsense UX review come out?
Have you ever done budget tv reviews for those of us on more of a budget?
Caleb, I have a question that is related to a couple of the questions you addressed in this video: Why hasn't anyone started making rear projection TVs again? People are finally starting to realize that ultra slim TV chassis don't leave much room for a high quality speaker setup, and I remember a friend having a rear projection TV back in the 90's with a built in subwoofer and left, right, and center channel speakers that sounded really good. With the advancements in projector technology and audio processing it seems like a logical solution to make a large widescreen format rear projection TV utilizing modern technological advancements like a 3 laser, 3 chip DLP projection system combined with a built in subwoofer and a whole suite of in cabinet speakers for a Dolby Atmos experience that would put the best soundbars to shame. It just seems like such an obvious thing to do to me that I don't understand why no one else seems to have thought of doing it.
MAN I thought it would be the 3 C's at 1:35 like the 3 P's for colonial life insurance. Great video as always though!!
The thing is im an audiophile and can afford a traditional speakers with an amp or receiver BUT i cant afford a big house nor can i afford to rent a big room (don't want neighbors complaining also). I can only afford to live in small condos, I keep moving places every 3-5 years and moving lots of speaker with the receiver will be a pain, so soundbars are the only way to go as i need to live a minimalistic lifestyle. at the moment i have a JBL bar 2.1 soundbar its sound quality is very decent for music with a very good low end bass, might upgrade to JBL bar 1000 in the future (easy to carry as its only two things the speaker and the subwoofer.) The built-in amp, speakers, features like airplay, chromecast, atmos, the receiver, Bluetooth, all the ports like HDMI, optical out, and so on ARE all blend in the soundbar. But yea the sound stage is not spread out like the home theater systems do but for a small room even with soundbar the sound will spread out.
