Sound Design Bits - Whooshes From Scratch

I hope you can enjoy this video about making Whooshes, I think the idea of turning any sample into a whoosh is so exciting and years ago I would have liked to know how to do it, hopefully this can help someone. The editing is a bit messy so if you have some questions just ask me in the comments!

Kinda bored of the 'disperser' type sound for want of a better adjective. Look forward to when people get back to more real sounding imaginary sounds :) Some nice techniques though and sounds cool

I agree that it's so overused nowadays, but I feel like it's still a cool sound when it works. I see it being used everywhere on videogames where, personally, I like it mostly on sci-fi/gorey stuff, cause the liquid part is justified enough to me. But I didn't really feel like I used it so much in this video, did I? At what minute you feel like it's too prominent? Thank you btw for the feedback, always helps me a lot! ❤

Sadly not one I'm aware of. Even tho, if you have Ableton you can use the M4L device called Shaper and map it to the Volume Gain, so you're able to control the envelope of 1 channel. You duplicate this 4 times for 4 different channel tracks. Then what you can do is randomize the duration of the Shaper, so each time you press play it randomizes slightly the duration of each tracks and you have a similar result. You can map Shaper to each parameter you want (pitch, for example) and you're gonna end up with something that KIIIIIINDA sounds similar to Whoosh, with built-in randomization as well :) Please tell me if I was clear enough ahah
