Raga Darbari Kanada played on Doordarshan on the 9th April's night.
Samanwaya Sarkar one of the foremost sitar players (kharaj pancham baaj) of the younger generation. Flawless and distinct playing with subtlety and proper understanding of aesthetic beauty are rare combinations which has made Samawnaya different from most of the sitarists. The tonal quality of his sitar sounds unique. ....
Samanwaya with Pt. Manilal Nag of Bishnupur guarana and then with Pt.Shyamal Chatterjee of Senia Maihar. Previously he learnt with Pt. Sashanka Banerjee of Senia. He then learnt with Pt. Kumar Prasad Mukherjee of Agra Atrauli .
He got a different essence of aesthetic approach with Padmavibhushan Girija Devi ji as her Gandabandh disciple and learnt Tappa, Thumri, Dadra and all other gayaki elements too ...

He should be as famous as Niladri kumar or shahid parvez, Amazingly tuned and perfection in every aspect of his playing is commendable.

I don't know why the name of tabla player is missing... As far as I know, his name is Sri Jyotirmay Roychowdhury... Such a soulful artist he is .... Credit goes to him also... Pranam💐💐💐🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️...huge respect for both the artists🙏🙏
First time listening to the Artist. He is different ... His Sitar is singing with the essence of several Graranas... Great Unification in style ...... beautiful rendition of raga Darbari Kanada including expected pathos.... extraordinary Tabla Sangat ..same amount of salute to the Tabla maestro also. Magnificant and full rendition Darbari Kanada, a rather difficult Raag to play on Sitar. This Raag requires complete control on deep meends and ghamaks, still maintaining the serene nature of the Raag. Samanvay has done everything perfectly. The Tabla accompaniment is also sensitive.

Saddest part is that none mentioned Tabla Player's name. Without his support it would not have reached that level. He is one of the youngest All India Radio A grade artist Jyotirmay Roychowdhury.

Style of presentation is unparalleled..Raag Rup and clarity are the real treasure of Samanwayji. He is just at the threshold of "Pundit Samanwayji".

Soulful performance deep connection with that Great Almighty. I can remember Ustad Vilayet Khan playing in this style. We can still find him through this divine .

Definitely some dhrupad beenkar influence in the mandra saptak. Reminds me of a 60s Darbari recording of Pt Ravi Shankar.

He is Jyotirmoy Roy Chowdhury, he is one of the finest of this generation
Amazing amount of sustain on his instrument. Don't know about the gamak sound though.
His style of playing is much better than Respected Niladri Kumar. His style may be compared later. At present he is unique in presenting Raga.
Really soulful music..excellent support on tabla without which it would not have reached that level. Kudos to both. By the way can anyone tell me who is the person on tabla?

@@SublimeUrgeToRejoice i didnt mean ghostly as in scary i meant as in 'invisible'. its a term ive heard used by the sitar community to describe long meend in the alap in which the note 'fades' away. its magical and beautiful, all proper sitarist can do it well but the instrument jawari itself must be capable to produce the sound

@@world_musician thanks for explaining, we got it but it's the temperament of the artiste who actually thinks of his instrument from tuning to jawari properly. And he even at this age has developed that with his innate love for purity ...hope you agree with that...he depicts the proper Gayaki keeping proper blen with Tantrakaari in every sphere of his music. It's not only the instrument, this instrument can be given to anyone to play but it won't produce the same sound..you understand that we are sure.... it's the feelings and attachment, and understanding over the last 30 years of learning not to imitate but to find the purity behind intricacies with perfection...

This "Ustaad in the making" !!.. obviously KNOWS how to tweedle 'the jiwaari' or has an "instrument artisan" who does !!.. his tweeaking and achieving "lingering meends outa his playing Strings !!.. is a testimony of his mature and tradition driven performance !!… Keep it up and concentrate on the "essence of Raag !!..
