For anybody that is curious, apparently the history of Ludo is a game of derivatives. So while *Ludo* is technically from Europe, as it is a childfriendly version of a British game called *Patchesi,* Patchesi is actually a derivative of an Indian game called *Pachisi.* There are apparently more versions which all have different names depending on which country you're from (Trouble, Sorry, Don't get angry, Parques, Parchis, etc.) but they are all considered "cross and circle games" which are commonly derived from the original Indian Pachisi.
I swear it's always funny how they turn a competitive game into a co-op.

I need games to be tagged "weed-friendly."
I'm glad I'm not alone in my hatred of Ludo (or "Sorry"). My family used to have this and played it a lot. I once had three games back-to-back where I never rolled a 6 and basically just sat there watching everyone else play. I've refused to touch it ever since and my blood sugar is much lower because of that.
This game is one of the few that gets me undeniably sleepy and idk why. It might be the music, but Clubhouse 51 is just one of those things that put me straight to sleep
"put it up on screen" *nothing is up on screen* love the new editors
The german version translates to a real sassy "don't be angry"
this episode was so satisfying, I actually love it when they are on the same team lmao
All the dislikes were from the Yellow Players.

Guess they don't have many asians watching them.
Arin: Where the hell is my "Humanity Wins!" on the screen? I specifically requested it!
They are just slowly making the intro get quieter and quieter until we can't even hear it any more
Were they referring to India back when it was a territory under the control of the UK?

The intro was so quiet. I pumped up my volume only to get deafened by Dan saying hello
Arin: It's Sorry, well it's sorry, that's why they call it Sorry Me: SORRY IS THE CARD GAME! TROUBLE IS THE DICE GAME!
Me during the opening: "oh, I should turn it up a bit" Me when Dan says hello: *deaf*
Arin: Calls a Parcheesi-like game Sorry but explains it as if it was Trouble

I love how they're saying this is Sorry but then they're describing Trouble, including the dice bubble. :p
The most frustrating game I've ever played.

My parents have a board for a variant of Sorry that uses a hand of cards instead of dice. The board is also much larger in terms of spaces, so being able to go ten spaces with a single card doesn't break it, plus being able to plan out your moves makes it a bit more strategic, while the cards being shuffled every time keeps the random element.
Ludo expert here: I see a lot of comments saying that there's no strategy, just luck in this game, that's simply untrue, while you can most definitely get hosed by the dice when you can only get out on 6 and you can't roll a 6, that's statically expected to be a 6 turn delay, which is pretty brutal, but can be minimized. However the computers are playing much smarter than Arin and I'll explain why. The objective of the game is to get each piece into home and not waste any dice rolls. There are two cases of wasted dice rolls, 1 as previously mentioned above where you cannot use a roll, and the second being a piece getting knocked back, that effectively wasted every roll you had put into it. Arin keeps taking new pieces out on 6, and plays "defensively" ie, running a piece away from a nearby opponent. This leads to him having multiple pieces halfway across the board, this maximizes your potential to waste rolls and is a bad strategy. "running away" is not a good move as it simply gives another piece more chances to land on you especially with 6s allowing a second roll. Another way to think about it would be that an player who only moves 1 piece is moving at roughly 4 spaces per turn, a player moving two pieces is moving both at roughly 2 spaces per turn, you can see how that's not good. We all know a single die averages a roll of 3.5 but with 6 offering the re-roll, this would make a series, but without getting too complicated and knowing the series converges, you can approximate it as follows, average roll per turn ((1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + (6 + 3.5)) / 6) = 4.08333. You do want to have pieces out, but not be moving them all. The optimal strategy is to set yourself up so minimal rolls get wasted. If you aim to have 2 pieces out, but prioritize your furthest piece and simply hope that other pieces will skip past the piece you leave by your gate, (which is the most likely outcome), you only ever have at most 1 board worth of rolls that can be wasted. If however you try to progress 2 pieces, you can end up with 2 full board travels worth of rolls that can all be wasted. The other advantage to keeping one piece static near your gate, is that you often get the opportunity to stomp an opponent as they pass you. Which is typically a good move, since you only add a few spaces to your potentially wasted rolls, while you actively waste all the rolls that opponent used to get there. TLDR; try to think of the game as a more traditional board-less, press your luck game, where each dice roll is adding to a point total and getting home is the only way to bank points. You can see very clearly that the best way to gain points and minimize losing them is to keep more dice options use-able (have 2 pieces out), but always move your closest piece to the bank. Hopefully we learned a thing about minimizing lost points here.

If there's any math buffs out here who want to call me on that approximation being inaccurate, I decided to have some fun with it. Turns out it converges to 4.2, but i didn't actually solve the series, I just scripted it. But I figured I'd share the script here for anyone who wants to know how to do such a thing. Let's be educational. First you'll have to open your browser's JS console. You can do that by right clicking on anything and selecting "inspect element" this will bring up a menu with tabs at the top, you'll be on the "elements" tab, but next to that will be "console", click "console" Now paste the following code: // code start function ludoRoll() { var roll = Math.floor(Math.random()*6) + 1; // dice roll (random from 1 - 6) if (roll == 6) { // on 6 roll again roll += ludoRoll(); } return roll; } function averageLudoRoll(rolls) { // rolls will be number of rolls to average var total = 0; for (var i=0; i var roll = ludoRoll(); total += roll; } var averageRoll = total / rolls; console.log("average roll:", averageRoll); } // code stop Now if you simply type: "ludoRoll()" in your console and hit enter, it will perform a ludoRoll. the Math.random() returns a value between 0 and 1, but never exactly 0 or 1. So multiplying that by 6 gets us a value from 0 to 6. then Math.floor() takes that number and cuts off the decimal, so it will be an integer value from from 0-5. Then we add 1, so now we have a random number from 1-6, a die roll. Then it says "If i rolled a 6, ludoRoll again and add it to my roll value" then it eventually returns a value. This simulates the roll used in ludo. The function averageLudoRoll(rolls) can be called like so "averageLudoRoll(5)" to average 5 ludo rolls. The for loop there is used to execute the code inside it, rolls times, then the total is divided by rolls. Pretty straight forward. So now you can just write averageLudoRoll(x) and keep replacing x with bigger and bigger values and you'll see that it converges at 4.2. HOWEVER if you give it a number too big, like billions, you will probably crash the browser console and have to force quit it or kill it from task manager, i'd recommend only going up to 1000000. higher than that will freeze your browser. Enjoy!

why does this version of Ludo not have globes and stars Globes: a safe space stars you jump to the next star hven landing on it
In Spain we call this game "Parchís". It's call that by adopting the original Hindu "Pachisi" and evolving a little overtime. But we have a slightly diferent rules and caveats: - We play with 2 dices, 6 give us an extra turn - If we roll 6 three times in a row, we return one pawn to the nest - When we "eat" out of the pawns, we advance 20 spaces - If two of our pawns are in the same space, we make a "barrier", and the pawns cannot "jump" over it. If the player rolls a 6, it have to break the "barrier"
At some point the game became "don't let yellow win" instead of just "win"
I played this ALOT when I was working in an elderly home in the netherlands
"I'll fuckin stæb you!" sounds like if Arin was a mobster who isn't allowed guns yet.
I played "Marbles" as a kid, which was Trouble but with a wooden board you can dedatch and click together to add more players. You used cards instead of dice, but you got your marbles out of home and traveled across the board to get into home
