Shoutout to the girl in the audience screaming, “GO IN.” That’s the kind of energy I need in my life.

Exactly 😣😭💕 this poem is on POINT
I’m 13 And I’ve been *Assaulted* *Miss used* *Beaten* *Broken* But guess what what? *I’m in love* Not with a boy nor a girl *With myself* I survived *Eight Suicide attempts* *Depression* *Sexual Assaults* *Death* *Life* *Having no parents* I am in love with living *I AM ALIVE* So, I will stand To love whom ever I please To vote for whom I want To work where I want *To live* And no one Man, women, child, or animal Is going to stand in my way

Wynter Wonderland semi-colons (;) are used when the sentence after continues the idea. A period ends the idea to start another one. So the poet is saying that they want their story to continue growing off of what they’ve already lived through instead of seeming like starting over

I WILL NEVER STOP SCREAMING ABOUT HOW PROUD I AM OF THESE TEEN GIRLS TODAY WHO DONT JUST SIT DOWN BUT STAND UP AND DEMAND TO BE HEARD. When i was 17 if I stood up I would be knocked right back down. Fists and words. I'm 25 now and just beginning to find my own voice. I'm behind you. I adore you. Thank you. This made my soul soar.
“so I learned to stare back hard into the male gaze daring it to cross me” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
SHE DID THAT SHIT! A beautifully rendered and heartfelt piece. YOU ARE POETRY MY LOVE!

because we live in a society that thinks teaching teenagers about "la belle dame sans merci" is better than teaching them shit with meaning. shit that could save lives. shit that could be the reason that a woman stands up for herself and demands she is heard. shit that makes the boys in ur class finally realize that no. women are not inferior and they must stop treating them as though they were

"13 tought me i was a witch who could pull languages out of boys they didnt know they could speak, as if my similies could swollow them whole and my metaphores could make men out of them''
This was everything I needed and as a teenage girl I am grateful
I love how she incorporated literature. She really just said "a truck driver commented on my ASSonance" I said 😮😮
I'm 20 and it has taken me until just recently to feel like I deserve to be heard, yet most days I'm still too scared to do it.
God I love this she’s my age She’s strong and beautiful and I can see her going far in life
“not because i look like one but because i want to” i had goosebumps the entire time
What an absolute goddess, poetic genius.
i too am a 17 year old girl and resonated with this poem so much, i felt every word, every syllable, every breath. Great poem
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
i wish i had as much support as that audience exudes
“Loving myself because there are so many more important things to resist.” Good lord that hit.
This is 2021 anyone still watching this masterpiece?

No matter how often I listen it brings tears to my eyes. She’s so eloquent and her lines are so beautiful, and as a girl of the same age I can do deeply relate
