@@DANIELGORMANN Pretty sure Barney isn’t married in this clip. You would know if you watched this episode as in the second part he shows Sophie a picture of his daughter, Ellie, which only came after he went for a perfect month, following his divorce and separation from Robin. Robin also mentions in the first season that she has been married, single and everything else in between. So a single, experienced, but more mature Barney could act like a perfect paternal figure for most of the group as they struggle deeply with adulthood.

Maybe it’s wrong but we all miss Barney. He was a good guy. HIMYM captured me at a young age because despite their differences, anger, romantic entanglements, at the end of the day they all loved each other. and that is what friendship is.

Love seeing Neil Patrick Harris back as Barney but somehow he looks so out of it. I get that he supposed to change after the events of HIMYM but he just feels so weird and out of character in a way, like a shell of a character that no longer has that charming sparks.

It's the writing and directing. There's barely any energy to any of the jokes. The actors are just reading off what they're told, but you can tell they're not really feeling it. Neither is the audience.

I think many things come together. I think that somehow he had to resume a character that he last played 9 years ago. and obviously it is difficult to get used to that again. On the other hand, I don't see much chemistry between the actors in this series. At HIMYM we would see friends on and off set. It was incredible because the chemistry they had within the series, they also handled within it. That is why the series had a great impact, but that is not noticeable in this one. For me this series does not exist, and for me the end of Barney Stinson was HIMYM. As well as the Legendary stories of how he met the love of his life.

Is it just me that felt sad by this appearence? Barney lost his entire character development at the last season of HIMYM, and this scene is like an homage to it. Barney has fallen to a point where he needs to be shocked like he is a wild animal that can never be well on its own... despite all that he has been through and learned before HIMYM finale. It is just so cruel, how they treated his character. I know he had no virtue before, but still, he had grown -- until they cancelled all hls growth. It's so sad to see how miserable he is here.

Both robin’s and Barney’s appearances on the show are incredible it makes you want to have a new show for the OG5, the thing about HIMYF is that it’s trying to do its own thing but it lives under an incredibly big shadow that HIMYM left behind, the show it’s not bad at all, I had a great time with it, but I made a huge mistake, I binged all 9 Seasons of HIMYM and then immediately started HIMYF, and as good as the show is it will never live up to how Legen… wait for it… dary, it’s predecessor is. And I understand how getting a few of the OG5 could boost the series, however you get them too frequently and you get the new cast completely overshadowed

The writing for Barney here seems really weird. I mean, I get that Barney was a womanizer and even a creep for most of HIMYM's run but this happens after the events of the last episode of HIMYM, right? So, after being married for Robin for 3 years AND after having a baby, why is he still supposedly struggling with not being creepy. It feels like the only reason Barney, or anyone else from HIMYM is appearing on this show is for ratings & views. I guess it works because I've not watched anything from this show except a clip where Robin appears and this clip with Barney

I feel like the whole show is about her meeting barney and he gets her pregnant so the twist at the end of himym is explaining how she met barney and she's telling their kids the story and I could be wrong but that's what I feel like is going to happen since they left the cliffhanger at the end of himym about him having a daughter so he met her and himyf explains how.

This is a spin off show and features new characters. Barney only makes an appearance once here. Also the show is cancelled, it wasn't too good.

No doubt Robyn was indeed the first woman he really seriously committed and married..that was one huge step. But becoming a father/parent is totally life changing and you’d do anything to support and protect that baby. Yes..even changing your old lifestyle or habits.

That absolutely was not character development. He already had developed after his daughter was born! My expectation would be that he would long last be passed needing an electro device to change his behavior. In the original he had started to act like he was going to flirt with some young girls and then told them to cover up and get home lol! I think they could have made him still have some antics but not made it seem like he was still working on his old habits. Also they should have played up the fact that he started driving a little bit more, like when she said that she was a new driver he could have reflected on his time learning.

@@kvanbinki he is treating it like an addiction and a lot of addictions will take years for people to fully get over plus there is a good chance that you relapse that device is meant for him to prevent himself from relapsing also just because he acted appropriately one time doesn't mean he suddenly started acting that way all the time it means he took the first steps towards acting like appropriately. Btw in the next scene he literally says that his daughter is the reason he is doing this. I also completely forgot he didn't know how to drive in the original series lol I'm proud that he learned how and I agree that could have mentioned it.

First season felt pretty generic and not fitting in the modern tv time but i've gotta say they've improved quite a bit in this last season. Ofc it's not nearly as good as HIMYM but still. it's an improvement. The cast is not the best i agree apart from Sid (it's the only one that actually feels like a real person). I hope this gets a 3rd season so they can keep improving and making an actual good spin off
