You did a really great job! I have an a6400 and I also have a Sony FDR-AX53. The AX53 has a similar mic setup to the ZV-E10. What people will not realize is that both have really good sound. That does not mean that they sound the same. The AX53/ZV-E10 is more directional, "lacks middle", and thus is superior for recording spoken voice with great clarity. In other words, you can understand what people are saying. The a6400 is essentially "mildly cardiod" and has more "mid" which gives more natural sounding recordings, and is great for live music performance recording, especially at outdoor concerts with PAs. Depending on taste, you do not "need" to put a mic on top of either camera for vlogging. The ZV-E10 really needs an add-on mic for music recording. There are a "couple" of Picture Profile mods around that I like on the a6400, which tend towards "Arri" and "Red" looks. They should work on the ZV-E10 as well.

@@thefilmalliance As I mentioned, I have the Sony a6400 and the Sony FDR-AX53 4K camcorder. I also have a Panasonic Lumix G85. I also use a Shure VP83F one piece "mic / preamp / recorder". I can use the VP83F on any of the three cameras, or free-standing on a tripod, for consistent sound.

This was easily the best comparison video I have seen to date. I do wish there had been a few more photos, since they are capturing momentary scenes and the lighting changes so much. But still...great job!

@@thefilmalliance Heh! That's a bit of a story. I had settled on the Sony ZV-E10...continued researching and changed my mind and settled on the Canon EOS R7. Then I started hunting for lenses... smh... After this nonsense with the RF mount and third party lense makers... I have switched back to Sony, but am now considering either the a7 III or the a7 IV. I want something that is generally good at everything...which the R7 was a perfect fit. I know I need a decent camera...but at the same time...the glass MUST be good, or it's a waste of time and money.

Finally, a video that answers all my questions with engaging (and fun!!) real-life examples. thank you so much from a creative who doesn't have the attention span for intricate specs!! 🤓

Great comparison! Thank you for sharing. I own a good photography camera, the Fuji XS-10. However, I have noticed that the battery life is quite disappointing, and it cannot record for more than 30 minutes. Additionally, it cannot be used while charging, making it less suitable for video recording. Nonetheless, it excels in the field of photography. Your video helped me make a decision, and based on your insights, I have opted for the ZVE10 over the A6400 primarily for video purposes, considering I already possess a high-quality photography camera. To emphasize your point, if someone is seeking a versatile camera for both photography and videos, the A6400 is the ideal choice. However, for those solely interested in recording videos, the ZVE10 is definitely the way to go.

I came to see cameras , but was blown away by the passion and fun you had for your review. I really thought you would land on the 6400 but it seems like the ZV-E10 is a real charmer and preformed better than i expected. I am more into films than pictures. I only wished it was more weather resistant. It rains alot where i live and i am hoping to do some outdoors filming as well as indoors. Maybe the zv-e10 combined with a gopro 8 or 10 would be a great combo. One for indoor and one for outdoors.

Great comparison. The color science on the ZV E10 looks more saturated to me and the 6400 looks softer. The mic sounded better on the 6400 but only by a little. Stabilization sucks on both lol. The ZV E10 is under the Christmas tree for the wife 🤫

yes, they both sucks. but at least ZV-e10 has better image stabilization when recording without any camera movement, and also it does better when doing a slow ninjawalk than A6400

Great video, you just answered a ton of questions I’ve been asking myself. I got the ZV-E10 as my first Sony camera. And the thing you mentioned about no viewfinder really hurts me doing photography on the ZV-E10 and I’ve been eyeing the A6400 now as well to have both of them in my kit. But the eye focus on video for the ZV-E10 is a must have. Wish Sony would update that feature to the A6400 too. Your video totally answers all of my questions about adding the A6400.

Having a hard time trying to decide on a camera. Will be used primarily for 4K video and portrait shorts where we need zoom to make the subject stand out. We have been thinking the 6400 with the song 210 lens or the rx10 iv. Any opinions on those ? Thanks for the great videos !

I have both cameras. One thing that made me keep the a6400 is weather sealing. My ZV-E10 is my main indoor/great outdoor weather camera with having gyrodata without a gimbal. The a6400 is the go to all around no matter the environment especially for photography having the EVF. the ZV-E10s screen color can fool you into thinking that its the color coming out of the camera sometimes. Both are great and have their uses.

@@basharatali9946either way you would be fine honestly. Both have picture profiles that you can use to shoot in HLG and SLog and color grade to your liking. Intelligent Auto is pretty good too if you don’t want to color grade and just go straight out of camera.

@@thefilmalliance Thanks and totally! I'm a blend of both, I work in film full time, but more as a production assistant than a camera man, but I do my own films as a hobby outside of that.

a6400 colors are a bit more muted and natural looking, which I like. But ZV-E10 is easier to use and has some nice features. It is a more affordable, and better entry camera.

@@thefilmalliance I am about to buy a ZV-1. I decided against the the ZV-E10 because I don't want to invest in glass right now. I am still trying to figure out what ecosystem is best for me. And also if I should go with micro 3/4 or full frame. Do you have an opinion about that? My humble two cents is that for the price Sony looks best for the general youtuber, and Panasonic for a cinematic indie documentary/nature style content

The lack of a viewfinder is a bonus for me. I use the zve10 in a studio and never outdoors - so its hooked up to a external monitor anyway, Its a bargain price for such a feature packed camera. 📷

The ultimate goal is to get a FX30 by June, so I was just looking to see if it be worth it to get a second camera in the interim. Think I'm just going to wait on the FX30.

This was a dope video. I feel that because the ZV E-10 was made for streamers many of the features that dedicated photographers are asking for would go into the A6000 series. I think The ZV E-10 is an awesome all around camera. And best bang for the buck

The A6400 is the winner here, the only downside with the camera is no in body stabilization witch hurts as a vloger with Sigma 16mm.

Its funny cuz thieves broke into my house at night and stole my a6400 AND the sigma 16 and now I'm not sure what I want to replace those with since videos were shaky as hell and I don't want a gimbal.

First time here. I loved your video, really fun, while explaining all the setup better than anyone else; I can follow along better than ever. Regarding the cameras, the dynamic range from the ZV-E10 video footage in the low light test (5:14) looked terrible to me, the colours and the exposure are completely unacceptable, like worse than a modern phone; while the footage from the A6400 was totally acceptable, though still not even close to the quality of the full frame main camera you used for the video, but definitely usable. I watched the video on my brand new 4k 28" 144Hz IPS monitor, and also on my 4k 32" VA monitor, so I'm quite sure about these image quality observations. And the vlogging test (13:09), aside from bad dynamic range, it also shows excessive sharpening.

I got a Sony A7iii last year and it’s a versatile camera for literally everything I do. However it’s a bit bulky and I wanted something light that I could carry in my pocket. I was planning to get a A6400 but I picked up a ZVE10 instead and I fell in love with the camera

@@thefilmalliance I polled my audience and about 72% said they either owned one or are willing to wait so they want more zv-e10 stuff. So I will keep doing them I guess. But I’ll try to make some more general, helpful videos that can apply to any camera. I’ll make some A7iv vids when I get one - but there will be so many of those vids - who knows if anyone will even care 🤣

They look comparable. zve10 have little punchier colors. But colors aren't something that should make you choose one over another camera in my opinion. But i actually think that this zv e10 could have some really big potential. I wish Sony makes pro version of this. With weather sealing, sensor shift and detachable EVF maybe. Would be also nice to see new sensor in those. Either 8k or really good 4k sensor like in a7s3 just apsc.

Apparently the stabilisation works fine for vlogging on the zv e10 without a massive zoom in, but you can only shoot 720p, internally it must take 1080p and use the cropped part as a buffer.

was actually looking for a camera for photography. Bought the zv e10 yesterday with the 16-50 standard lens. Should i have bought the a6000 with 16-50 for 130 euro less? Or is the ZVe10 better for photography aswell?

Hi; The image of the Sony A7siii is wonderful and clean is it a lut configuration or camera ? I notice a big gap when you change in the studio your A cam to the zev10 and 6400, are they capable of something similar with luts or configuration? I also purchased a sigma 30mm 1.4 to capture portraits & the 18-50 2.8 to have a better zoom lens for my everyday lens and I’ve been using it everyday since 😁

Is it ok for a 4k camcorder to take longer than 1 hour, is it still overheating, I wonder if this machine and a6400 are used as a camera for a small studio, I filmed myself as a photoshop tutorial like your studio. I heard that this sony line often overheats, I found out that overseas brothers told me to use fake batteries and set the temp to High, so they could record 4k continuously for more than 1 hour. I was going to buy the old lumix Gh5 with 12-35 and saw the review that it focuses too slowly, looking at this crop line sony, I see that the focus is fast but the video quality is also significantly sharper, with less noise. now i plan to buy sony with sigma 16 f1.4 do you think ok

Hi, loving all the content you are making on ZV e10. I am a beginner photographer. Would mostly do photography and some videography/vloging as well. 1. Wanted to know if not having an evf really a big deal? 2. Is LCD screen on Z V e-10 good enough to see in bright sunlight? Also how is the overall quality of screen? 3. How is the screen quality compared to a6400? 4. How different is the rolling shutter compared to a6400 since both use the same sensor and processor? I haven't used any camera before, just the phone. So not sure how much I'll need the evf. But saw many posts of not having evf sucks !! hence the question. Sorry for the long question. But couldn't find better way to put it. (English not being the first language)

My first time here a little bit too late but I just wanna buy a new camera, more towards videography but still wanna use for my macro photography, I’m a nikon user not because I hate nikon now but they don’t have a quick focusing censored for video and also on budget, it means if I have money I will straight away choose a7iii or IV or even fx30 BUT again on a budget, so seeing your video is just like fresh of air cause really a bunch of videos but lack info and review, and you put it together in such a wonderful way, and make me one step closer to buy sony, and maybe I will buy a6400 because of weather resistant, metal material so more durable, and the way it looks I mean I saw the buttons on zv e10 it looks like someone paint it and the switch it is just like a toy to me, the down side with a6400 it will be the screen but that’s what you get when you buy an old camera, and unfortunately for zv e10 still don’t have ibis system, no viewfinder come on sony don’t be so stingy 😂

no problem! I would say that the zve10 is definitely better for that.

Hi! I am stuck between these two. We will use the camera for this channel. I mainly record on a tripod both indoors and outdoors. Weather sealed and toughness from the 6400 kind of makes me lean towards it. We do a lot of photography also, any advice? Getting one today thanks! New sub here!

Hi! I have an A6000 which the son is getting as a starter camera. So I would need an APS-C replacement as a 2nd camera for my A7iii . Video/vlogging is uninteresting, but sometimes happens on vacation. I have a large collection of quality OSS glass, both APS-C and FF, so IBIS is not very important. Apart from the missing viewfinder, would the ZV-E10 be an option or should I rather go for the A6400/6500? Other focal points: animal/bird photography (with Tamron 150-500mm, so weight saving compared to A7iii important ??), also astro on a SkyTracker (weight vs. A7iii) . What would you recommend?

I would say the ZV-E10 is the best route. Have you looked into the ZV-1?

Hi, currently I'm torn between these two cameras. I intend to use them as work cameras for taking simple event coverage photos, as well as photos of food and shopping mall stores. As for video, I mainly need it for TikTok and Instagram Reels. Considering this information, could you please recommend which one you would suggest? 🙏🏽

Social media compresses your files, so I would focus on image quality for your photos. I would say go with the ZV-E10 because it has an a more updated sensor than the 6400. Hope that helps

There is something no youtuber talks about. I heard Casey from camera conspiracies saying zv e10 1080p footage is the worst in the game.if u still own it do 1080p vs 4k footage plz. And great video by the way ❤️❤️
