Wow. Another fantastic video in the can. You have shared truly cinematic footage from the ZV-1ii. And I don't use the word "cinematic" too often. It's a word that is thrown around way too often. You have shown in your videos that it's not just the camera (i.e. tool) that you have in your hands. It's how you use it. And when you make an effort to capture good footage with whatever camera you have, it is possible. That being said, you have done an excellent job at showing how good the ZV-1ii can be. I say, "can be", because it's up to the user to make the effort to capture quality footage. The camera won't do it for you. Great job. Thank you.

Is cinematic straight out of the cam, color grading, telling or enhancing a story? All the above? 🤷‍♂️ is there such a thing as a cinematic photo? Or does cinematic only pertain to video? 🤦‍♂️ oops just like high school probably gonna get scolded for wasting the teachers class time on non related scheduled time 😳🤪 ✌️

I got the ZV1 because of you. And while the new model looks like an upgrade in most cases (except the aperture when zoomed), i think the ZV1 is still better, especially considering the price. And if one wants, they can get the wide angle lens. Anyway. Thank you. My future camera will be ZV E10 mark 2 as i am satisfied with my ZV1 now

Thanks for the great info as always. I'll be sticking with my OG ZV-1 as the added features don't outweigh the loss of the OSS and HFR. Really puzzling choice on the latter. I would love to have the new touch menus and USB-C port - also one thing I loved on the ZV1F was that it gave you the option to go to usb streaming right when you plug it in - on both the ZV-1 and my a7c you need to go into the menu first.

Been watching your content from the get-go when you started with the ZV1. With the amount of content you've covered for the ZV1 I think you are the #1 most qualified person to give an in-depth review/comparison of the Mark II. I sold my ZV-1 with the cage and Ulanzi wide angle because it became too bulky to carry with my A7SIII. But now I will be getting the ZV1M2 as a pocket size B-cam without all the attachments. The ZV1M2 is how the original ZV1 was supposed to be.

I have the ZV-1, mostly asa still camera. I'd prefer the mark II simply for the battery door location. The crop factor improvement is nice too. Too bad I didn't wait 2 years. I've barely used the ZV-1 as it is due to other happenings. But the shots looks good in the orginal ZV-1.

Wow…covered so much in this. Well done! Both are good, and unless there is a big reduction in price on the Zv1 agree with your recommendation to go with the 2. . I don’t own either, but doubt I would upgrade if I had the 1 though; so close!

After one year of recording my music gigs with it, I still like the capabilities of the original ZV-1. Some things that are annoying with it have been solved with the new rendition (especially USB-C and wider angle) but come with a catch. I would rather upgrade to a ZV-E10 mk. 2 or even the full-frame ZV-E1 sometime.

Thanks for making really incredible videos on these cameras! I still cant decide if I want to pull the trigger. I use a s22 ultra for my videos, and usually theyre still but id like a nice live streaming all around camera so I dont have to use my phone 24/7. I just dont know if i see a quality difference in good lighting. I can get a zv1 used for like 350 which doesnt sound bad.

I’m curious if the ulanzi wide angle lens will give me an even wider angle, or will it give rounding and vignetting of the image?

Need the cage first protects the camera and with the cage give you a advantage attaching accessories to it..put a light mic extra equipment u cud attach to it which is very helpful.

Hello. I just bought the ZV-1M2. I am going on an Alaskan cruise and wanted something a little better than an iPhone 11 to take pictures. I will be taking pictures more than videos. In your opinion, was the 1M2 a better choice?

Can either camera be charged via an Anker battery and a cable while out in the "field"?

From the official source (Sony website, which I can't share the link), ZV-1 has a 3-stop ND filter built in. Not so sure if I'd upgrade to Mark II as the "major" thing is only the lens. But of course, 18mm is way wider! sony / electronics / support / compact-cameras-zv-series / zv-1 / specifications

im trying to start out in the camera world and hoping to buy the zv1 m2 as my first camera ever for vlogging so i would presume the cage is used for many reasons,1.to get a better grip of the camera if there is no good grip.2 provide better aligned screwhole for gimbal or shooting grip.3 provides more cold shoe mounts and different mounts with different allignments for rigging out the camera overall.

I'm on a tight budget so the ZV1 was my choice. I got a nice used one for only $352 shipped. Since it's been out much longer, there are lots of nice used ZV1's to choose from. Not so with the ZV1 M2. I'd never pay the new price for a ZV1 M2 ... That's way over double what I paid. Plus, I prefer the 24 to 70mm because of the rare ability to get a point and shoot camera with a built in lens with a 70mm f2.8! That's a pretty expensive lens in APSC. I like the 70mm zoomed in image more than only a 50mm, and f4 is rather slow. I also like the two image stabilizations too. I'm undecided because I've never had a touch screen on any camera, except my phone, and I don't use my phone on anything but full auto. Just not a phone photography guy. So limiting and clunky. I started out looking at the RX100V and others in that line, then discovered that the ZV1 pretty much is an RX100V with more easy to use video features. Since the RX100 line is so sought after, they are really expensive, even used! My used ZV1 was less than half what most RX100V's go for used and I like the ergonomics of the ZV1 much better so it was an easy choice! Thanks for all of your great content! 😎🤘

They are all great options. But for the sharpest image quality and widest angle, I would say the ZV-E10 with a Viltrox 13 5.14 lens. Hope that helps.

Glad I’ve been helpful. I would say if the need is there to upgrade then definitely do so. If not, I recommend working with what you already have and perfecting your craft, with the goal there of upgrading once you save up enough.

I still use zv1 and the video output is still great except the croping issue.

I agree. The ZV-1 M2 helps that issue with the wider lens. Not solved but helps.

Cages look cooler 😁 The offset mounting point does make it incompatible with my Small Rig cage which I use for cable management attachments. While in general the move to USB-C is good, it does create a mismatch. I have two ZV-1s, and then got a ZV-1F (USB-C) so I had to start carrying another cable type. Will the MkII replace the ZV-1, or will they both be available?

It is the same exact sensor on both cameras

I am new to this camera stuff and is so confused on which one I should choose ! Can somebody help me ? I was thinking the mark II but I seen a lot of people saying that the mark II was almost like a downgrade from the original. I know either way I will love the camera, but hearing peoples opinions on the camera that they already have (zv1) is making me second guess on getting the mark II. I’m leaning towards the mark II because of the wide lens, touch screen, and mount port because I can see that being very irritating having to take off the tripod every time you need to switch the battery. Can somebody please help ? Which one would you prefer as a first timer. I will be using the camera for vlogging.

What do you plan to use it for?

If you are buying your first vlogging camera go for ZV1F records 4k for 1hr no overheating. Zv1 and Zv1m2 cant beat that.

I prefer the ZV-1 or ZV-1 M2. I had no overheating issues with either. But a great alternative for those on a budget.

Hat you can do against overheating is to use a dummy battery. Thats helps alot especially for streaming.

Easy choice. I picked up a used ZV-1 with a NiceRig grip for half the price of the ZV-1 II. That alone should settle it. And then there's the better, faster, stabilized lens on the ZV-1.

The best thing about the ZV1M2 is that I was able to get a new OG ZV-1 for just $440.

The only complain i have about zv1 is the battery life.. Otherwise, its an almost perfect beginner camera

It's not really an improvement. They put a widwr lens bc you really cant vlog at 24 mm. But then they took out ibis so you have to use digital atabilization whigh crops it in so instead of the 18 or 19, it'll be like 21 or 22 which is barely better than 24

Just buy zv e10 almost same price. And the kit lens is not bad anyway

Note that this is not the best option for vloggers as they would need to add an attachment lens that would deteriorate the motor overtime
