Sony Zeiss 55mm f1.8 - Video Autofocus Test (FX3)

Фильм және анимация

The video autofocus is tested on the sony FX3 (similar to the A7s III or FX6)
How smooth are the focus pulls and how strong is the bokeh jitter in the out of focus background. Tested at f1.8 with Eye AF.

I've started using this lens on my fx30 too, and my experience with autofocus is not that great actually. I slowed down the focusing speed to 2 or 3 on fx30 but sometimes the lens jumps fast when focusing...is this your experience with closeup subjects? I am talking about minimum focusing distance to 2-3 feet distances

I'm quite surprised to hear that; in my experience, the lens is one of the smoothest when it comes to autofocus. Could you possibly send me a link to a video clip demonstrating the behavior? Also, what subject were you filming: an object or a face? (settings like speed don't matter when eye tracking is activated)

@@deadendboredom i will capture something and send you for sure. Usually its not a face, its middle focus point, and a closeup object. I think closeup performance of lenses can be very different than face tracking of medium or far away distanced human face focusing performance.

I've just tried it again, and actually it worked fine, interesting...It is indeed very smooth now! Maybe it was a software glitch or something?

@@EmreYazgin That's good news indeed! There could be various reasons for such unexplained behavior. Perhaps the lighting conditions were unfavorable, or it's possible that a single focus point is more susceptible to glitches compared to using a larger area or tracking.
