Its native 1080 display not 4k.You can flash to be always in 4k,but then is so laggy,many apps do not work or they are constantly crashing, battery is dead after 2,5 hour.For me this is jerk move and false advertising by sony.

Dado D.R. You don't need a 4k screen that is always on. Only with videos and making videos/pictures. That's all you need, and you don't know if it's going to lagg when you do that, that was a problem with the older phone. You don't know if it will happen with this phone too

Nice unboxing video. Please in your review make sure you tell us something about the audio performances for audiophile who like listening to quality music. Is the lack of 3,5 jack a problem for sound quality? His the adaptator so good as the 3,5 jack?

16:9 is the best

Excited. I like 16:9 far more than 18:9. The width just gives you more screen real estate where it matters. Content is horizontally restricted, not vertically, you can always scroll for vertical content. I feel kind of ripped off when you hear of 6+ inch screens but in reality their width is more like 5.3. However in Sony's case, they still left a ton of bezel at the top and bottom :(. Also my question for your review: How close is Sony's skin to stock Android? I've noticed over the years they have slowly reduced their custom elements. Can you comment on smaller stuff like the network/battery icons etc vs stock Android. Thanks!

You get less screen real estate... not more. 3840x2160 instead of 4440x2160. *if* the extra resolution was available on top and bottom, you would be losing absolutely nothing if you display a 16/9 in the center. The only reason you don't take that extra resolution, is because it has not been made available to you. The image does not become larger just because the 4440x2160 is missing. It's stuck in the center of the display on the 3840x2160 as well.

The main drawback of the new camera system is that the second black and white sensor only helps in low light, but it doesn't help fix one of the life long problems with sony cameras... Dynamic range in high contrast situations, where it usualy overexposes...

Pixel Peepers It only helps in *extreme* low light, actually... Until ISO 3200, the photos from dual camera mode look actually less sharp and lacks quite a bit of details compared to those taken in single camera mode (though less noisy). So the real benefit of having the monochrome sensor starts to show from ISO 6400 onwards.

It's slippery slightly less than the XZ2. I'd definitely keep a case on it.

Maaaan,what a phoone,I recently had xperia xz bdw excellent phone but the xz2 premium...blown mi mind,I was so surprised how loud the speakers were,and much more have they improved sony did done a good job 👍👍

Yesterday I brought the Xz2 premium and Damnn that phone is awesome!! Seriously takes really good pictures even my Nokia 8 Sirocco doesn't look that good. I was watching the Awesome Spider-Man 2 and the stereo speakers are so loud and clear! Feels good man! The ips display is the best I have ever seen compared to other device's! Gaming is also smooth! I'm Very happy with my purchase! Will continue support Sony!! 😍 (From Greece with love!)

Hello Matthew. I know it's not related but I am going to buy a Huawei Mate 10 Pro or P20( Regular not P20 Pro) and I want you opinion as a user of both of them which has better camera. For other things I don't care I just need to buy the one with the better camera.

Does it have any kind of stabilization in 4K VIdeo Mode? And does it record 960 fps in 1080p? Thank You: ) and Love from India!

Can't wait for the camera review 😃 BTW, the screen is not only 4k HDR, it's also the first device to use LG's MLCD+ tech. Obviously, the G7 was the first one to be sold. It should get to 900 nits. I think you should also mention that the XZ2 Premium's 5.8'' 16:9 screen is actually almost the same size like P20 Pro's 6.1'' 18:9 screen - Sony 91.5cm^2, Huawei 93.9cm^2.

I recently bought the XZ premium and so far I'm loving it expect for the battery life...

Wish they had left the headphone jack in.Does it have an IR blaster?I have been wanting to use this to make some simple, but nice looking videos and edit them. Will this do that? I would be brand new to that.The speakers/sound system - are there any sort of adjustments to the sound? Does the Snapdragon 845 have another.processor like some of the Chinese phones do and if so how does that work? I do not understand how the two, if it has that sort of set up, work and is that a better system than other flagship phones.Here is sort of the kicker - I am looking for a phone I can use for some time to come. Would this be strong enough, fast enough with enough memory for longevity?Great video as always. Thank you.

The inclusion of a camera button should be highlighted more so thanks for mentioning that! I didn't have a Sony since Z3 compact but I still miss it on every other phone.

This phone is all about low to no light. Definitely do some videos and photography in low light

please provide ample samples of the camera both in low light & outdoors! is it considerably better than Google Pixel 2 XL?

3:09 The fingerprint sensor is in the same location from the bottom, you just happened to have the compact higher... so is it in the perfect location or not?

compact is in a great location. The X22 and more specifically the XZ2 Premium have it in bad spots.

to be honest I did not like it, although I'm very much a fan of Sony, I still prefer the square design, it was just the edges.

i got the a2 and z3c n was going for xz1 compact...luv those xz2 lines but just cant accept the back curve dude...i luv the original boxy side-fingerscanner design 'Sony Identity'

Iso 12800 on my 1000 dollar plus fullframe dslr nikon d750 is useless. You can guess what the images on the sony would look like. Dont be fooled by marketing gimmicks like this

Hriatchhunga Chhangte resized to 5MP , the iso 51200 shots can be saved by edition. Videos have too low noise, pretty hard to see.

I have to say that everyone makes a deal out of the fps, but the fps on the power button on my z5p just didn't work 75% of the time multiple passes to unlock phone. The placement on xz2p is fine, you pick the phone up and most of the time Ive unlocked the phone unintentionally. It works all the time and my finger hits it perfectly without covering the camera. For me this is a vast improvement over my z5p.

Oh my, just the 16:9 format its enought to love this phone. In my opinion the other ones just cut your media experience since all the content it's on 16:9.

I really want to buy this phone, but one thing worries me, which is the fact that it might not be sold in my country, according to one of the local Sony store staffs. So my question is, if I bought the phone online through let's Amazon, would it run fine with any of my local carriers? And would I be able to get regular updates and support from Sony?... etc. Thank you!

The international version is uinlocked, so it should work in any country as long as the carrier uses GSM. In my country it works with tmobile and at and t but not verizon and sprint.

Please make a full review with speakertest with S9+ when dolbyatmos turn on

SR SR Somebody got triggered! Lol 😂, look homie, I just asked about the display. Because I'm curious about the colors and crispness vs the older model. Not about the whole device. And if I and many others were to be honest it's not much of an upgrade at all and definitely not worth buying if you already have the XZ Premium. Cpu speed is negligible, the extra ram is completely pointless and in real world operation no speed performance and just a gimmick. The OS utilizes the ram almost the exact same. There's no headphone jack. It's bigger and bulky and one if the heaviest phones out there. The bigger screen size is not an upgrade at all the size on the XZ Premium was perfect and pretty darn big to begin with. The design is super ugly and is unstable as it slides off almost every surface. The price of the phone is way more expensive and rediculous. The vibrators in the phone is a gimmick. There's very few pros to the phone. Yes the phone is pointless tiny bit faster and has little but more ram that in real world application for the power user and everyday user is pointless. Yes it has louder sound. Yes it has new camera technology which even that is not that much of an improvement of the XZp camera though it is better. I can keep going. Anyway don't get pissed off because Im questioning your pride and joy. The Xz2 Premium is not much of an upgrade at all and is definitely not worth getting if you already have the XZ Premium. And matter of fact unless u have lots of money I'd recommend anyone getting the XZ Premium over the XZ2 Premium because the XZ Premium is a solid super fast phone as fast as the S8+ and S9 series and is awesome in every field. Really let's be real here. It's also half the price the XZ2 Premium. Wait for the XZ3 Premium. I just wanted to know what the Screen is like. And it's the freaking Stupid same! A little different colors but the same exact crispness! It's not worth getting. Good phone! Even great phone! Just not worth spending $1000 right now.

SR SR also I don't put my identity into a phone. Or any object for that matter. I'm solid in that respect. I think men who need big trucks or sports cars for the ego is a mental illness and proves they have no identity foundation at all. I feel sound with my person I don't wear flashy clothes or drive flashy cars and walk around with a fake swag and attitude. Ima simple man and man of God so don't assume you know anything about me. I could care less if the newesr version of anything came out and it was 1million times better and cheaper or whatever I wouldn't be jealous or freak out because I'm not materialistic like that and put my identity in the world and it's stupid cultures. I'm just wise and don't fall for the marketing scams and ploys and gimmicks and I don't need to always get the latest and greatest like alot of America. Sucked in to these products and major corporations a crazy growing culture of media and technology. Don't be a sucker yourself and waste ur money. Peace ✌️

The XZ2 Premium isn't better than the XZ Premium is *every aspect,* there's just a few things which are different, that's all.

Sound system, is it any good ? And through the headphones

Hi Matthew, I have one problem with Sony .. i used to have Sony phones since Sony Ericsson and i loved it till the stupid release of Z5 Premium .. it had many problems but let me focus on the real one ... the over heat , my z5 premium had over heat till the back cover of the phone just pup of from the top corner ... i can't use it for youtube in my data .. just on wifi , cause when you just turn on the data and specially 4G it become hot , anyway ... since you have the XZ2 P would you please record 4K video and see how long it takes for the pone to stop recording due to overheat , please try waching 4K videos on youtube App using your data in a sunny day outside with no AC i really want to sold my iphone 7 plus to bay this phone but i'm afraid from heat issue please if you can help me that i will be thanks full to you . best wishes .

Tinashe Togara Just because the panel will run in 1080p doesn't make the panel any cheaper to produce. It means that you're not using up your battery super quickly when browsing the internet, Facebook, or almost all other apps that don't run in 4K anyways. IF, you're a heavy multimedia user that watches 4K Netflix/Amazon Video/KZread, then this screen's resolution is more appealing, especially because of the HDR.

could you please make a test about the 3d scanner app from sony, it's a very very very good feature that only sony have, and i think it's a revolution for mobile device that sony dosen't talk to much about it or dosen't really realize how much it's interesting. thank you

Moisés Silva Problem is there is not much content that displays at that speed. KZread is usually 30, sometimes 60. Phone games are usually locked at 60.

Sony challenging himself by giving more features than previous once.. And others just focusing aspect ratio and notch.. 🙂🙄

i still using xz premium, best mobile phone i ever had but xz 2 premium doesn't have audio jack that keeping me from staying with xz premium

i have an XZ2 which i love more than the XZ2 Premium(in regard of the dual camera setup).. why? because xz2 is more comfortable to hold.. but the xz2 premium looks so large in term of width! i wouldn't mind it's heavy weight if it was the same width of xz2.

Also, in your opinion, is this phone worth the price tag? I thought it would come out around $800 so almost $1,000 is a bit of a shock. Does Sony have promotions at all? I come from a generation when a phone was used to call your grandmother on the weekend and if you were lucky had a private line. The changes have been like "Buck Rogers" or going to the moon was and all the things one need to understand regarding phones today can be a bit overwhelming. Those on KZread have been great for working through all this new information. Thanks!

Dr. donna Walter, in some markets its 750 or 800 dollars. Sony launches phones with similar prices to Samsung or Apple but it does reduces prices after 1-2 months. Till date Sony has followed the 6 monthly cycle, so if it sticks to Sony will lauch new phone(s) on 31st of August at IFA 2018.

Good unboxing video, Essentially (as a Z5 premium and then a xz premium owner) its typical of sony. Rubbish design but technically and when you look under the 'hood' wow what a phone. When you do low-light video work, it beat Samsung s9+ hands down and even the P20 PRO. I like your style btw, unlike TWEATOWN (which the reviews have been bought and paid for by Samsung) Tomshardware and Endgadget at least you are open minded about Sony. As the x owner of a computer hardware site (Overclockerstech) I know when someone is unbiased.well done to you fella :)
