They made the screen panel be the first phone's component to be removed as it's typically the weakest component of the device. Screens are always used everyday, and if ever they get dropped, they're always going to be the first to be messed up. I think it's just a right decision from Sony there.

This time to replace battery of XZ1 you need disassembly motherboard first to access battery.. I prefer under the display shield just like XZ

Nope. What if the glass is damage but is still working? You probably will terminate the entire screen by removing it while you are opening it. It's a lazy decision, because generally, the replacement is not original quality.

@@MGOFor3ver The chances are, if your taking apart your phone with a smashed screen, it's for the smashed screen and not to fix another part. You might as well repair it if it's not for that anyway. In the case of Sony on this phone, it's not out of laziness, in fact it's the fact that Sony made this phone with a very premium design with a full aluminium, diamond cut loop meaning that the screen is the only way in.

except sony's screen especially for this model (gorilla glass 5) never breaks! dropped my phone on the road several times, on concrete, from the stairs on concrete, and from a the second floor. God/universe bless them for their innovative technology!

Sony always have a very good built quality in theyre products

They certainly made use of space while also saving costs regarding the bezels.

Looks like a well build phone. Now, everyone who thinks HTC makes well build phones, go watch a HTC teardown and see the difference in use of adhesive, copper tape, etc. HTC phones are garbage.

L.GH. Djoetma yeah that was the case until the U line. M7-M10 where a mess inside. with the u ultra although they started to go a more conventional way of assembly, with less flex cables and signal wires. Garbage is still the wrong term, as their older devices where just unorganized inside and therefore harder to repair

Please advice, I need to re-new the thermal paste for the cpu. It seemed Sony had put only on the top of the metal can only. Can I improved to put thermal paste directly on the top of the cpu and gpu chip for better heat release by opening the cap before? Thanks

Great job to tear it down. I have a small problem. The top and bottom plastic parts start to change the original colour and the down part start to loose adhesive with body!!!! I am not trust the service center to repair it and after I saw the video certainly I will call Sony direct to repair for me. The stupid service center said it is customer misuse. i tried to know if the plastic part are able to remove or it is well adhesive to the metal part??. Thank for your channel.

really think about to buy xz1. would get it for 50$ as well as the S8 for same price over my carrier but struggle with the small screen. using a htc u ultra with a great 5,7" screen and really dont know if 5,2" is enough for me also the on screen buttons take space which is not the case with my ultra right now. So the S8 sound like the better choice for me, but with its heavy software i bother i will like it as much as a close to stock android device, like from sony or htc. also the real life Performance of the S8 sucks compared to other SD 835 devices. Maybe i just wait for the HTC U12 or go with the XZ Premium which, i would only get in red over my carrier which sucks. damn i hate to buy a new phone

I followed the steps of this tutorial and now the screen works, but the phone is very slow in responding now, as if there is a delay in everything I try to do on the phone. tried doing a factory reset and putting the broken screen back but still nothing helped. probably messed something up while heating it... can anyone tell me what component is broken? or how to diagnose what is broken? or just buy a new phone thanks in advance for answering this if you can

@@niyazicengizmantar6077 no it was not an origininal lcd, got it from aliexpress. Connected the old original screen and still had the same problem. Either the poor quality screen might have caused it or i messed it up with my heat gun when i was getting impatient😅. I would like to know if it's still worth fixing and which components might have been damaged.

Yes it is, which rev version your device is 2,3,4, or 5? The rev version is written on the box of the device

why dont you use a punch of plastic cards instead of that spudger? lower risk and faster. spudger always lifts the display way more than needed. anyway nice teardown

The pulling tape is covered under the motherboard, so it has to be remove first.

^Not easy, but with Sony's Qnovo Battery and Charging tech, I really doubt one will ever replace the battery of an Xperia. Even without it, Sony Xperia devices' batteries last very long.
