Bro why would you sacrifice these for just a SD820 phone that doesn't even perform like one: 1. Dual front-facing stereo speakers 2. Great build quality 3. Simple and less gimmicky design 4. Great software (neae stock) 5. Excellent camera (this camera beats the shit out of that cheap Chinese OnePlus 3) 6. Great display (this video proves that. It is nearly as bright as the S7 in sunlight) 7. Quick updates like Nexus Overall, it's simply a beast. You have to try it before judging it, because you may regret that

"3. Simple and less gimmicky design". That's a really poor excuse, you know. Design is largely subjective matter. It might looks good to you but others might find boring. Like me for example, I used to like xperia line, but after several years sony playing safe sticking to the same design it got really boring.

Just bought it for $229. Should arrive soon. This is my third Sony phone. The reason I keep buying them is the aluminum/quality build, the FM receiver (never mentioned in any reviews, ever!) and the close to stock Android UI. I've had the SP and T3 phones before.

Awesome phone with slightly below average battery life. Just picked mine up for $229.99. A fantastic Flagship quality experience for the price.

this is the reason why I don't like Sony devices cause it still a portable oven. they really need to change the design so it doesn't heat up and fire all the quality control for letting the device heat up and selling it to consumers. that's not good quality control. I experienced it on my Xperia z3+ and the z5p. Sony devices overpriced for a thermal throttling device performance. better off to buy another device until they fix the stupid heating issues.

For this price, you can buy a Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, or OnePlus 3, or, lets say, Galaxy S6. All of these are better phones than this Xperia X. I really see no reason why someone should pick up this over the other phones I mentioned. Not to mentions these phones wont let you down for example if you want to take a longer video in the hot, sunny day, where this Xperia simply overheats and stops recording.

About the video mode. He probably didn't have Sony's Steady Shot on. I own an old Xperia Z1 Compact. That phone did the smoothest videos. The shots were so steady. Way better than any OIS. No other phone comes close apart from iPhones which also use electronic stabilization.

For the audio, place the phone on flat surface (table or something). there is a huge difference.

What I'll really miss is the compact flagship line, Sony has to continue that in one way or another. Or some other manufacturer could step in and do it.

Sony has so much potential to exceed in the smartphone market; they have a good history in music( Walkman etc.) so their phones should have the good audio playback, they make some of the best camera sensors, so their phones should be top contenders for the best smartphone cameras, they have the PlayStation and have made very successful handheld gaming consoles (PSP) so their phone should be good at gaming (they also need to advertise the remote play feature more). Considering all of the resources they have its amazing that they're flopping like they are.

I won't consider it even average .. camera shuts down after 9 min of video recording? what the hell my 3 years old S4 can shoot video as long as there is storage and battery to keep it on .. that's embarrassing.

I think Sony is playing with what they said a couple of months ago, that they had a bigger profit in 2015 selling less phones than in 2014 selling more phones. I really think the strategy of Sony now is for them to finish selling the Z5 line by overpricing the X line, lowering the Z5's price without the reputation cost and selling them all, that way, a bigger profit coming from those remaining phones and the few overpriced ones they will sell with the X line.

I still don't get why Sony disabled the fingerprint sensor in the US version...

Sony X doesn't come with quick charger in the box. you need to buy the adapter separately I'm afraid. this may explain the poor charge rate performance. unless clove sent u one? then I'm stumped. it supports qnovo.

Design should have been the XA with its bezel-less approach. And the 650 doesn't cut it especially with the price tag.

Haha! I'm not surprised! But I'm super cereal! I need to know if the Xperia X Performance is worth getting so that I can get it without regretting not getting the Note 7. My biggest concern is the Xperia X line was announced so long ago and as far as I can tell, STILL has no release date. Not in Australia anyway. I have the Xperia Z4 tablet and love it to death. If the X Performance is what I dream it's specs mean, I want it!

idk really.. for what i could find comparing the two in stores is that the screen and feel in hand are really a step up on the X over the Z5.. but of course that those other things like battery life and camera quality i could not test, so i can't say much.. but honestly, I'm a bit underwhelmed by this new line-up.. I've said once that the perfect X phone, to me, would have the body of the standard X (as it is thinner than the Xp), the screen arrengement of the XA, the power of the Xp and a bigger battery (and maybe also ois, or just a wider aperture lens).. the way it is now I'm kind of disappointed tbh, even though i would gladly have an X for example, as i think i do not demand much from a phone in a performance stand point (ram management must be good though).. what about you? do you have this feeling of "not even trying" from sony?

+Aníbal Évora Yes, I'm a bit disappointed for the price that it's only a mid range phone and not an high end phone. from the look of both Z5 and the X, it looks like the Z5 is a much more high end classier look.

At that price , you better have a feature set comparable to the galaxy S7 or iphone , if not go the cheapo way and compete with xiaomi and one plus at the bottom

For me, the reason I'm miles away from the nearest sony phone is not because it does not feature the latest specs, or the flashiest screen, or the largest battery etc etc. I had an xperia z1 as my second ever smartphone. It was perfect. Amazing hardware combines with amazing software, easy to use. Except for... one thing... the phone had a broken touchscreen from day 1. I dont mean a cracked screen, i mean when the screen was on for more than 30 seconds, it started not registering your touches anymore or registering them at the wrong places. You couldn't touch the buttons on the webpages, there would be phantom touches all over the place when using apps, and playing games would be completely impossible. The phone with such a price tag was literally UNUSABLE. I thought it was a defect on my unit only, but searching the web i found out MANY other people had the exact same issue as I was, and sony were trying to play it off as if it was some kind of software issue instead of admitting that they have f*cked up and giving people free replacements. Thats why I can't do it, i cant take the same risk again. I cant risk paying $600 for a phone and have it come to me unusable because the manufacturer has f*cked up. You might have had a better experience than mine, but this is my experience with sony and sony has to make it up to me or at least assure me that they wont f*ck up for me to get a Sony mobile product again.

Well its just an X performance with SD 650 instead of 820 and no water resistance , other than that they are identical , so their price should be close , about the camera , does manual photo capturing produce better photos ?

I just upgraded to this phone for free and it will arrive tomorrow. I was offered a galaxy s7 instead but would have to pay upfront cost of £40. Have I made a mistake?

Kartik nain Well it turns out that I really like the phone. It does some cool stuff. It can be a Midi controller for my pc which is handy for me and the music programs I use. Battery life is better than the HTC one I had before. I get the reviews and stuff but I'm happy. I don't play games or use the camera much so I guess the differences don't really affect me. It does get a bit hot when using lots of apps or intensive ones.
