I recently bought the XE300 and returned it to Amazon the very next day due to its muddy sound output. I think your description "Muffled mess" is spot on. If it had been about half of the price-point, I'd probably have accepted it as "adequate for the price". Come on Sony - what were you thinking?

XB31 was the best! All it needed was a mega bass button on top and USB C fast charging. It has USB output to charge and a 3.5mm jack miss mine.

I have purchased xe 300 @ 6749 INR and on this price point the speaker is superb ..just place the speaker on the floor or some close area of wall ..believe it or not but this speaker plays and beat any good quality audio system on sound part ..bass is superb ...and to get the bass effect I have already told that u have to put the speaker on right area of your room ..every area have a different bass effect .

Usually like Sony’s stuff and currently own a pair of the XB910N and the XB33 speaker. Genuinely don’t know what Sony was thinking with this new speaker lineup. Took away the lights and made them sound worse than the previous gen and the competition. Whoever thought these new speakers were a good idea at Sony needs to be fired.

La respuesta es que Sony técnicamente te está obligando a qué uses el LDAC, para que obtengas mejor calidad de audio pero te mata en el rendimiento de la batería, y eso pasa por qué tengo el Sony srs xb43 y si uso los codecs sbc y aac , me dura la batería pero la calidad de audio es ruidosa mas no melodiosa, y esa melodía lo obtienes con el LDAC, te recomiendo usar Tidal o qobuz que tienen calidad de audio, y sí, aquí Sony de pasea desnudo ante JBL y otras marcas.

Do you think sony will discontinue partyconnect just like they did with party chain?

What matters to me is which of the 2 have punchier bass? & which of the 2 have more rumble?

I have two XB33's and I literally cringed when I saw the design of the new speakers.

My xb43 never leave my desk.its so hard to bring outside due to dont have any carrying strap😢

Its interesting, the overall treble level is actually higher on the XE300, but if you look closely at the FR (or even your ipad mic) the treble has a lot more of these fine dips and peaks messing up the overall treble

Appreciate the comparison! I'm just appalled why Sony took almost 2 years just to release...a downgrade lineup. They have nice ier/headphones why can't they make on-par portable speaker products?

Headphones by Sony are great the XB line on speakers are great as well what happened to Sony new releases you ca get the XB 33 refurbed on eBay for 59.95 they look brand new and paired up in stereo just an awesome soundstage.

Overpriced, you can find XB33's for 150$ CAD on sale, whereas the XG300 the lowest you'll find that is 350$ CAD

After seeing the reveal of the new series, I knew it's gonna be worse. Just how they thought this is a good idea sound wise, with a design like that? It's sad as I was looking forward to the new mid tier series, with maybe similar performance boosts as JBL did. I hope their next series gonna be better again though.

If you make the XB33 sound vibrant as a speaker with a warm sound signature. You really have a muffled speaker

Sony did not invest as much on the pre amp as it did on the drivers. They made the xe300 more water resistant so this can explain why it sounds muddier. Im sure it would sound better by removing the plastic covering.

I never found the ex300 muffled at all. I like the pairing, also being able to adjust the bass mid range and treble

Great review. Won't buy. XE300 renewed $84... XB33 renewed $115. The market agrees with you. I have 2 XB 23s and play them in stereo 85% of time... and love them. Stereo play is amazing and only desync 2x a month. Easy fix.

Estás equivocado amigo la xb33 se lleva de sobra ala Sony xb32 y xb 40 y xb41 ya que está por el tamaño de sus radiadores posee más profundidad y dispersión en los bajos

Way too much silicon wrap if you'd ask me. Probably one of the reasons for quieter sound. It would might be better if the amount of area of the silicon is the fabric instead. I don't like the XE series. The XB 33 is better but I love the xb31 more than all the succeding speakers. Better buy Tribit X sound mega. I'm done with sony speakers LOL

Nu stiu ce teste faci dar eu iti spun ca detin sony xe 300 doua xe 200 , xb 33 si xb 23 iar dintre toate xe 300 se aude cel mai tare adica chiar o acopera pe xb 33 deci este cu mult peste dar acum depinde cum vrei sa le faci reclama mai ales ca am vazut un clip la acest canal sony xe 300 vs jbl charge 5 unde sa vazut ca sony era pe stamina mode iar jbl era cu egalizatorul la maxim pe bass , medii si inalte . In realitate am auzit si jbl charge 5 si clar nu se aude mai bine sau mai tare decat sony xe 300.

Love the lights as well which they did away with it love my XB 41/43 much better.

To all who are sad about the flubbing of this generation, the past suggests there may be hope yet: A timeline from 2014 onwards of Sony midsized speakers: SRS-X5: 2014 SRS-X55: 2015 SRS-XB3: 2016 SRS-XB30: 2017 SRS-XB31: 2018 SRS-XB32: 2019 SRS-XB33: 2020 SRS-XE300: 2022 So they skipped a year, here's hoping they don't do that next year! In my eyes they definitely won't, the XE300 isn't gonna sell well and once they realize the XB33 is still selling better than the XE300 they'll start working on a new speaker.

I heard those xe 200 300 and didn't like the sound at all. They r completely opposite to xb line

Simple these have Yamaha plates and are not for the bass head, but for a balanced sound

You hit the hammer on the nail the sound is muffled it’s all closed up what a difference I have many xb33’s love them this XE SERIES IS DISTURBING! The XB 30,31, and 32 love them too passive radiators are inside when u put them in a corner it enhances the bass. Thanks for the review it seems like a lot of the reviewers are holding off because there is nothing exciting about all three and 5he prices way too high thanks again you always give a great review go JBL LOL

It’s not, the xe300 has Yamaha plates apart it has a little more bass and extension of the same, that opaque thing I don’t understand my Sony xe300 sounds better than my Sony xb33 even with better nuances, if you want clarity and squeaky highs go for jbl which gives power and relaxation but not quality understand the Sony xe 300 and xg300 have Yamaha plates and their sound is balanced no bass head as in xb33 and xb43 that have bass but not sound quality compared to this new generation

I noticed you're comparing it while in an upright position and everyone is doing that. However if you listen to it while it's laying horizontal it sounds way better. Why do you think the other speakers are in a horizontal position??? This speaker should also be in a horizontal position. Trust me.

I never touched the XE300 I'm holding out for a hero. (The spiritual successor to the XB33, the XE300 does not deserve to be related to the XB33.

Sony Stop making ideas like that you're just going make it sound worse than its predecessor the Sony xb33 which was an upgrade from its predecessor this speaker has xb32 sound but quieter😮😮😮 stop making live shape diffuser bro it will bounce multiple times and it won't sound that good
