FYI: The latest firmware from Sony allows you to change the analog clock on the home screen to digital or remove it altogether.

Do you have to download firmware to USB drive and then into the head unit, or can I download right off the head unit? And can you change the led color buttons? (Haven't bought it yet)

@@Jaydogg209 I don't think you can change the button color. You can change the wallpaper. I used the USB drive method to upgrade the firmware, but there is also a USB tethering option listed in the manual. Not sure how that works exactly.

We're driving cars not sitting on our couches...how can you leave out the volume knob....sheesh! We need as many tactile buttons on these devices so we can keep our eyes on the road. I wonder if the people who designed these devices are even human.

I agree my ford came with a kenwood and I love it but it doesn't have the volume knob, sometimes i miss the buttons havinf the knob woukd be way easier

Thanks for the comment. The camera will only support 480. Most in dash radios are limited to that…. I’m not sure why… they should be at least 720p

As far as I know the only difference is the voltage

I think they chose resistive over capacitive so that you could use the screen while wearing gloves.

If you are looking to buy this headunit please read this comment first. I have recently installed this same headunit into my 2007 Lexus ES 350, and I use the Apple Carplay features. He got some things wrong in this video. At 1:11 he claims this unit does wired / wireless Android Auto and wired / wireless Apple Carplay. THIS IS NOT TRUE. This headunit only does wireless Apple Carplay. If you are expecting to use this headunit and use the USB-C output for wired Apple Carplay it will not work. Make sure your iPhone is compatible with wireless Carplay. Second of all, at 2:12 he claims the GPS antenna will make it more accurate. In order to use Carplay with this headunit it is REQUIRED to install the GPS antenna. If the GPS antenna is not installed or installed incorrectly CARPLAY WILL NOT WORK. Make sure to do more resaerch before buying this headunit. If you found this comment helpful please like it so more people will usnderstand what this headunit is capable of and save some headaches. Yes all true. Sony did some unorthodox things on this radio but other brands are similar with the antenna wireless won’t work unless the antenna is hooked up. Thanks for clearing this up hopefully others will read this. Thanks for the comment!

How does this look in direct sunlight? I heard that was a criticism for one of the earlier Sony XAV models.

It doesn’t look great. There’s definitely plenty of washout. You can still see it but that’s the most underwhelming part of the unit.

I thought it was wireless CarPlay only? Not both.

Is there a way to make the radio shut off when the car turns off? My new radio is draining my car’s battery.

Sony are kidding themselves when they say anti glare screen ive got a 3200 and it's crap in sunlight but i did a carlinkit air 2 and the wireless android auto work great cost 200 bucks less

I hate that sony has terrible updates. After 3 years, I wish i could have the option of updating my XAV-AX700 interface to something more like this! This looks a bit better than mine! But i cant. Stuck with mediocre interface.

New subscriber. Friend, I need your help. I need a a car stereo with Apple Carplay AND an excellent tuner. I like to listen to a radio when commuting. I have yet to find an aftermarket head unit that receives FM (analog and digital) as well as the average OEM head unit. Please advise. Peace.
