Soundcore definitely won the noise cancellation and call quality but the music quality went to Sony by a lot. Sony sounded clean and natural while the q45 sounded like it has cheap drivers in it.

Update my dad has the Q45s and the quality is worse than my 3 year old Sony wf-1000 xm3s. Not by a lot but I expected better from a newer product

Solid comparison. Glad I found this as I just picked up the Sony on Christmas Eve. Q45 mids and highs are more pronounced in the tests. Soundcore definitely wins the value for $$ category. Would have been nice if Sony made them fold vs. laying flat for storage. Thx for testing!!

For me, it's comfort over sound.. As you can't listen long if the headset is uncomfortable.. So it's an easy win for sony for me, if you got the razer black shark v2 pro, I think it's the same in terms of comfort..

Can you include a test with calls in ms teams in future and compare their mic noise cancelling and ability to adjust/turn off side tone and keep ANC on

Yes, this: ability to keep ANC on during a Teams call (and/or a phone call)! I recently purchased a used pair of Sony WF1000 XM4 earbuds, and while I’m satisfied overall, I’m surprised to see that ANC is always set to ”hearthrough” when I start a call! I can tap the ANC on in the app during a call, but it’s not at all as effective as it normally is. It seems that the mics are needed for voice pick-up, and can’t be used for ”full suppression” of the noise around me at the same time. None of the many KZread reviews I’ve watched have noted this!

I purchased the Space Q45 but they are too big for my head even at their smallest setting. How would you say the WH-CH720N compare? Can they get smaller than the Q45? Thanks!

Which one would you say has less audio leakage?

I have the q35's and I think they sound phenomenal once EQ'ed. Only complaint is the pressure the band gives, they are way too lose(needs to be tighter, almost much tighter) and I prefer a more oval shaped cup rather than rounded. Other than that, for $99 bucks they sound killer. Idk if the 45's have the same driver in them or not... The q35's have great detail, great desperation, great bass, great highs. I can't complain about the quality of audio, especially when using an Amazon music or tidal music file.

My Q45 microphone is not working when trying to do video and voice recording on my iPhone and iPad. I tried recording using the Camera app, instagram, tiktok and voice memos but the mic from the iPhone and iPad picked up my voice and not the headphone mic itself. Is this normal?

aight I see nobody talking about this. the things is, I’ve recently ordered a pair of the 720n, right. And the anc button ain’t working at all n I’ve tried even resetting it to factory settings n still ,so if someone has or had this problem, please comment below 😭.

IDK I'll have to figure out where I can try the 720ns in person. I've found that the sound and ANC samples don't quite do the headphones justice. The space q45s have a really shrill treble that makes voices sound like they were recorded through a tin can, but the Sonys sound almost muffled by the bass. And it's not a case of the highs being too high, Grados are some of my favorite sounding headphones in some cases, but the highs just sound out of tune almost.

After listening to both sound clips I have to agree the song sounds better with the extra bass... the Q45s sound like it's coming from a old crispy radio set the Sony sounds more full and the bass compliments the guitar strings... I think it may be down to preference but, maybe the sound profile fits the song better after comparing the two I think I'm glad I stuck with my Sonys.

Which one is better for glassware

Good video but I want a pair purely for home use (definitely not for jogging or traveling) I live alone so (I believe it's referred to as leakage) won't be a problem, VERY unlikely to need it for phone use and no need for the noise cancelation, it still looks (and sounds) like Sony is the winner for me.

i went back and forth listening to the samples vs listening to the original song to find which matched better. both didnt match the original song. the Sony bass was too booming, but you could see potential in the sony that bringing down the bass slightly would fix it. the soundcore had the voice almost clipping as if you were listening through radio. so overall the sony has more potential to be the best with tuning. good review especially for the samples!

Hello. To all those complaining about the sound quality of the Q45's, have you activated the LDAC from within the app?

I have purchased several Soundcore headphones. I have found the plastic on those headphones to be very sub-par. For example, the plastic on the Q30 headband cracked and broke apart not.long after purchase.The headband is now held together with black duct tape. Also, the ear cushions split and fall apart, replacements aren't any better.

I got a static noise when used wired to sony tv with anc on. Is this a broken device? ch720n

I really like Soundcore. I had two Q30s. Yes two. I had to return both because the plastic breaks so easily. Which is really dissapointing. And now I am here because I am wondering if a Sony will be a better long term commitment because the plastic will be more durable. Ug... Low quality plastic is a problem with Soundcore. Awesome sound. Awesome performance. But no use if I can't wear it because the one ear cup is dangling loose on cables 😑😑😑😒😒🙄🙄🙄

I got the sony wh-ch720n headphones, they are perfect to be honest with you, maybe soundcore q45 is better but they are still great for me, and i have been enjoying the sound quality of the headphones! (Also if ur a person who wants to hear super loud music, dont think sony headphones is for you)

@@aaronloudnwireless yes as I think I mentioned before, I tweaked the vocals preset a little bit and it sounds equally good, if not better (because of that extra "puch" in the 720n) as my older Q30 (which I tweaked from some other video I found )

@@crvenom nope no connection issues, was 5 months till q30 broke. As for the Sony I am absolutely satisfied with the build quality, I have handled it a bit more roughly than my Q30 and it did not even crack. Plus it's soo light I often forget I'm wearing headphones. My only small problem is that because of my glasses nc gets a bit dampened :(

I just got a Sony 720N today... And this is the first time I've used an over-ear headphone.

Soundcore q45 is 3times the price of Sony ch720n in India. Sony for me.

I need clarification on the Anker Q45 & Sony WH-CH 720 due to the LDAC codec missing on Sony. I mostly listen to the rock genre; secondly, soft & music is everything to me. Would it make a big difference if I bought a 720 N for music despite missing the LDAC?

my Q30 broken after barely 2 yrs, thinking of getting WH-1000XM4 , but it's to pricey. Thinking of getting either Q35 or Q45 , can you compare Q35 or Q45 ? I have a pair of Soundcore Liberty Air 2 pro now btw.

Hi there! I have a question. I’m autistic, and I have sensory processing issues, which includes issues with auditory sensitivity. Ive tried using a pair of non-electronic ear defenders, but I felt as if they sometimes blocked out too much noise. So, I’m looking into getting a pair of electronic headphones with adaptive/adjustable noise cancellation, so I can control how much noise is blocked out. I’m literally down to these two pairs, as they are the most budget friendly, while also having the best ratings. My question is, if I am planning on using these primarily for the adjustable noise cancellation feature, which one would you say is better?

I would personally say the Sonys just because they’re much lighter, more comfortable, and have less clamp. If you’re going to be wearing them for long periods of time to help with your auditory issues then it would be nice to have the more comfortable headphones. Also, the Sonys have better noise cancelling.

I stumbled across this video randomly, and I dont know if this guy is trying to make q45 sound bad on purpose, but they sound nothing like that in real life. They are clear with a lot of space in the music and a warmer sound.

Sony is half the price in most of the world. And when it comes to trickle down economy, sony definitely offers more.

i dont know how soundcore is but sony made a very fair and comfortable pair of headphones..i can nearly forget them.. And i prefer sony's anc from this sample . But i trully believe that sony has more bass in general.. I know her years. I am not the biggest fan of it , but doesnt really consern me .

I recently sent my Q45s back and got the Sony 720s instead. The two main reasons were comfort and weird noise cancellation behaviour on the Q45s.

@irensaga561 Weird in what way? My Q20i are emanating some hissing noise,producing a pressure-like feeling,that makes me feel like it will suck my eardrums out. It especially happens in the NFC mode when no music is played.

@@TheChudoviste I’ve not tried the Q20, but the sucking feeling with ANC on is something I notice a lot on the Q30s, and the Q45s if the noise cancelling is turned up high to like 4 or 5. For me the Q45s were very good unless I moved around. On a train or bus, standing or sitting still, no worries. Hit a bump in the road or walk around then the ANC freaks out. The bass response goes all over the place.

@@OmarAFawzy I use the Sony’s on a bus and they do a pretty good job of removing low frequency rumbles. The noise cancelling is more powerful on the 45s, but I prefer the Sony for everything else.

I just detest the stock EQ on any soundcore product, they exaggerate the mids so much it becomes hollow sounding, like someone singing through a plastic cup

@@MrAkella33 You stated 'any soundcore product', a nonsensical claim on it's face given there's a ton of them spanning generations and styles. I highly doubt anyone has plotted them all. And _even then,_ a default graph does not account for responsiveness to EQ adjustment. So I have extensive personal experience across 5 products on multiple devices, and you appear to have a subset of default graphs and poor online 'sound samples'. Ok then lol 🤷‍♂️

I'm not gonna trust a battery bank company to be competent at making audio products, no one that takes audio and high end products seriously recommends anything soundcore related. I've owned the liberty 4s, and tried their other products. They were terrible and I have no reason to believe that their older models are anything revolutionary.

Yea i bought the q45s a few days ago and was shocked by the lack of bass, once you turn on the bass up options the "bucket" sound gets waaaay worse. I bought myself a pair of sony xb910 and will probably retunrn the 45s soon

@@frankreynolds9930 yes that's very true. But for example on Sony headphones at least the sound stays pretty clean, even if it is on the bass heavy side. And i was negatively surprised by the Q45s cause I own other Anker speakers and they sound really good for the price, even having good bass. Maybe they just need more time to adjust to the headphones world

@@fleeviokmr I have q45 and as default its pretty average but on Acoustic eq, it sounds so much better. I also liked bass heavy headphones in the beginning but you will always want clarity after awhile.

The problem with Sony is the plastic is getting worse and worse. Helmets are fragile and break. I have 4 sony headphones and 3 are broken. The only one that resisted is the oldest wh h900

You can adjust your bass in Q45

Let’s see if I’ll get annoyed if it’s better than my Q45… I think I’m satisfied enough with my Q45 after watching this video. My only gripe for it is the weight and clamp. The weight is very noticeable and the clamp at first can be tight. Great review!

Soundcore q45 not gonna lie are real uncomfortable for me though, only wearing for 10 minutes can already cause sweating, I can always feel the tight clamp of the headphones and the heavy af weight on my ears isnt helping. I think many reviewers prob forgot to mention the comfort is quite subjective, anyways I will be selling my q45 to get the 720n because lightweight is best honestly

@@youtubeuser258 I had the same complaint about the clamp force but what I did is I put the headphone over the box and the carrying case put together to stretch the headphone for a few days and I find it comfortable now. I dont sweat but the weight is def noticeable. Compared to the Sony's.

I strongly believe sony would sell more headphones if they had better names.

Does sound cancellation work when connected via AUX? My use is trans pacific flying.

so you compare an ldac with a non ldac headphone? Just by reading the comments I understand that most of the readers have no clue (for example: no, iphone doesnt support ldac). Maybe time for an update ?

Tried LDAC, APTX. Cant tell the difference against SBC and AAC. If you want better details or a real hi-res go wired earphones. Dont be fooled with these kind of gimmicks. It draws more power and the connection is unstable. Even the latency is intolerable.

My Sony XM3 I bought about 3 years ago just gave out. As in the battery refuses to charge. I have not mishandled it. Have cheap headphones that are older then it and were used more that still work fine. Im kind of done w Sony right now. Their build quality is questionable. 😢😅 Hoping these q45's will last me longer. Either way the sound quality and price tag comparatively are making it an easy decision.😅

My xm4 is 2 years old then the left hinge broke when I lifted them up from bed, never dropped or anything. Estimation from Sony ,$ 110+ + for a set of headbands replacement. I googled it and it’s known issue for xm4. 😢

Curious to know how this turned out. When I was reading owner reviews of the Q45s, there seemed to be a very consistent report that they crack and break because of the cheap plastic.

​@@LutherFlannery I think you're referring to the Q30s...I have the Q45s and haven't heard anything about them breaking. I've certainly had no issues, but I'm easy on my stuff.

I own the Q35 and I love them.

Should do the Q35 vs the Sony's, i have the Q35 and Q45's and the Q35's are better in every way by far except for ANC.

​@@frankreynolds9930 It isn't even the bass that makes the Q35 the better sounding headphones. The Q35s in general have more natural sounding mids and treble.

its a bit disturbing that majority of users dont know or dont use poweramp or GONEMAD for music customization.

Well, I bought the Sony last week because it was 128 versus the Soundcore at 150. Basically, your video suggests that I made the right decision.

It is fairly competitive, but I would go Sony. I own the Q30,quality item, but the Sony 720 store demo sounded great.

I just got it yesterday. The sound quality is good for this price. The NC is at a good level but the material is not very good for me. ,It looks like the plastic of a cheap headphone. However, the sound quality and NC are satisfactory.

The Sony can connect to ps5?

Return the q45's do to the fit was just not right, there was no curvature for ears and head. NoiSe cancelling was good. Returned the 720's do to poor noiSe cancelling, Sony has good fitment

Yes the soundcore does have the better ANC and I miss it. The pressure on the 720n is almost not noticeable with ANC on at least. I did noticed the ear vacuum feel with the soundcore but it was much better ANC.

Yes soundcores app has an 8 band equalizer for sound tuning.

pricing in your country is broke then, in my country the Q45 cost $30 bucks less than Sony, even though the fact is it have better ANC and build quality, even sound, it basically compare more closely with the XB910n whole priced even cheaper than CH720n in most country

I own both of these headphones and would say the soundcore Q45 is a bit better overall. Build quality goes to the Soundcore Q45 it feels more premium. Sony CH720N feels more cheap but on the plus side they are lighter. The ANC is also better on the soundcore there's really no contest here. Sound quality I feel the Sonys edge ahead here but they both produce good audio. The Sonys sound better straight out of the box(for me at least) They sound more lively than the soundcore Q45. The soundcore is good but they can seem disappointing until you tinker with the EQ settings within the App.
