Great review. Hey, In the Activity tab within the app, there is the Safe Listening. I’m not sure why no reviewers cover it, but you were the only one who skimmed through it. Safe Listening is a feature that helps you keep track of your volume decibel db reading. That way people don’t miss up their ears and lose their hearing. It’s a very important feature. You should think about covering it.

I love these I had these for 6onths allmost year now but I stop wearing todo they use too slide off my head when bench pressing or dead lifting suqata had no issues incline bench no issues I use too them today no longer they fall off sense m y hiar is longer

@@RiorioChanredsa if you want the music to stop automatically when you take them off, you’ll have to go in the sony app and turn on the “Pauses when headphones are taken off” option in the System tab. if you have that on and it still doesn’t pause, you may have a pair with a faulty sensor.

I just bought these headphones two days ago and from what I’ve learned is that with the connect 2 device function you can NOT listen to two devices at the same time. It just helps you switch between two preferred devices faster. If I’m wrong then let me know. I’ve been trying to listen to my Nintendo Switch and my Spotify on my phone.

No, you can't listen to two devices at once, you'll listen to the one that started to sound first, if you want to switch you have to stop the sound on the device you're listening from and play whatever you want on the other device, kinda awkward really

Are the settings that you can change in the app saved in the headphones so that you have the same EQ settings when you connect the headphones to another device which doesn’t have the app?

1:44 swipe up and hold your vinger on top and the volume slider turns slowly up. (Or down) Less swiping, way easier, less scratches 😉

On iPhone you can have 'connect to 2 devices' enabled because iPhone doesn't use high quality codec, but on Android you should switch that off to have LDAC enabled.

And one more thing - this setting does not allow to listed two devices simultaneously, it just allows to quick switch between these devices without reconnecting. For example to pause music from one device and answer the call.

I love my Bose QC35II, but after some videos, I’m going to pick up a pair of Sony XM4s. They seem better than the XM5 for less money.

I got the XM4s on a huge sale at Best Buy and couldn’t be happier. Much better battery life than my Bose, great sound and superior noise canceling.

i've just unpacked mine XM5.... first question (i had the same problem with XM4) How to enable AMBIENT SOUND and stop the music WITH THE SAME ONE TOUCH ?? sounds so obvious ... (and it works like this with Sennheisers) (i don't want to keep holding one earbud for a minute if i want to talk more - quick attention mode)

You can't the xm5s are auto sadly but if you turn to noise cancelling and listen to somthing it will dround out the rest of the noise in the world wayyy better then the xm4 noise cancelling I think personally

They can be manually changed, you just have to turn the Auto ANC off in the Sony App

@@feelingoverlogic I have ANC-issues with the earbuds-version of the XM5s but afaik the available ANC-settings in Sony's app are the same for both variants. As of now (before and after the update to fw v2.01), there is no way to manually set the ANC strength. There is "Adaptive NC On", "Transparency Mode On" (along with a slider that let's you set it in 20 increments) and "Off" (which turns both, ANC and Transparency modes, off). Unfortunately, toggeling between ANC and everthing off under various outside noise conditions, generally only gives me a very mild and unsatisfying NC-effect on top of the passive noise dampening from the foam tips in my ears. Seeing how many users were hoping for an option to manually set NC to full power, I having sinking hopes for Sony that they will ever provide us such a (cut!?) "feature" for the XM5 generation. I'm reluctantly considering to return them and try something like the QC45s instead. Seems to me like Sony shoots themselves in the knee by taking away control from the users. Pretty sure it wouldn't be hard to do at all technically. I've read comments suspecting that it could be intentionally missing for possible liability-reasons in case of accidents. I really don't know if that's the case but seeing how they already did stuff like reducing the maximum volume levels for headphones and/or portable devices way back in the past, I wouldn't completely rule it out either.

my wh-1000 does not work with the cord very well - when I use a cord (on an airplane) it does not connect well - it will play and then just stop and I have tried plugging un-plugging - turning on/off.

Does sony x5 headphone has voice balance(Left and right )accesbility feature? For example - my left ear has only little hearing capacity and right is normal. So i want to balance it out? Help me with this

Is there a shortcut to mute the mic?

I need to warn people about recent sony headphones. The speak to chat function randomly turns back on, even when turned off in app or/and on headphone functions. I find that wearing my hood is enough to turn this function back on. This function will cut off your music if you speak or walk near a loud enough noice. So, no singing along

There is a touch gesture on the right cup that puts the 'speak to chat' on. Probably why you're having problems. you can try turning of the touch gestures for a bit and see if the problem still happens.

When the ANC is on, and the ear cups are sealed - it’s great. Definitely better than the M4’s. My BIGGEST problem with these things is that every time it THINKS i’m breaking the seal (chewing, hoodie rubs external cup…) it reduces ANC as if on its way to allow talk-through / ambient sound ! This is my first flight with these - and maybe there’s a setting i’m missing. But i turned OFF voice assistant, pause when headphones are off, speak to chat …etc. This is REALLY bugging me and it didn’t happen on my M4’s. Is this on / off issue what others are talking about when complaining about ANC ?? Is there another setting someone can point me to ?

Everyone complains about the auto ANC in XM5 that's why XM4 is still best for noise cancellation because you can set the NC level manually.

There is a fix. If you put your two fingers on your right cup you can always turn it off. I dont have the problem like you have. But i hope it helps

@@alice-jt7dr Hi. I end up buying the Sony XM5 because I really need a good microphone since I do a lot of Zoom Meetings. So far, so good. I don't have any problem with it and the battery life is great. I can use it for almost a week by just charging it once. The noise cancelling feature is working great, I bought the unit from Sony's physical store so I can test it. I cannot hear a thing when I am using it. It meets my expectation. Value for money.

I was hoping to find a mute function...just in case you're not too much into Spotify ads.

Would you recommend these for the gym?

It's not water resistant and that includes sweat. When I first set it up, it showed a diagram of what to avoid including rain and sweat. I wouldn't risk it if I were you

My question is, how do you turn the speak to chat function off......it's driving me nuts! Every time you clear your throat or want to sing along the music turns off. I've actually gone back to my XM3's until I sort this function out.

I'm so used to Sony whxb910n since I know nc/am is on or not just hearing it saying nc on and am off, instead xm5 makes beeping sounds for nc/am which sounds the same to me.

I just brought those headphones a month ago and it’s like they just do whatever they want. Turn off in the middle of a song. pick and choose when to stop playing when I take them off. Feels like I’m turning them on every five seconds. That thing thinks Ima GHOST 💀

Is anyone going to mention the annoying accidental call hang ups or track changes, when u actually doing something instead of sitting in front of a desk. If u laying down, working out, or go to adjust your headset on your head will usually hang up a call or skip track... Good review tho

@@ChrisChoi123 because Apple completely screwed the tuning up in the AirPods Max. It is very much a U shaped tuning in the APM which I despise. That is why I got rid of the APM. Different strokes for different folks brother. As long as you are happy with what you are listening to that is all that really matters. FYI, I am selling my XM5s, the new Soundcore Space Q45s for $120 after the discount code is a no brainer. The XM5s software seems half baked. The Q45s sound better, have good ANC in my environment, are more comfortable, multipoint connectivity. I am happy as a clam.

For me they are loud for reference I usually have my volume through the headphones from my my computer at around 20 and that is more than enough for me. (i do have noise cancelling on) although even with noise canalling off 20 is still more than enough. I hope this helps!!!!

It should not be quiet. Play with your equalizer, or try with different device. For me it's quite loud.

Double check you used them on the right side (try it on both sides). If that doesn't work, contact the company you bought the headphones from.

Had to do a reset on mine. Hold the power and n/c button simultaneously. Then the tap and swipe functions worked.

It's already enabled if you use an android device. To verify- In your phone go to Bluetooth setting and tap on the gear icon of Xm5 (which is shows as connected device). There you will see HD Audio : Ldac as enabled.

I find the headphones for conference calls with the laptop, very bad. The background noise, mic... all very bad. Really good for music, but for the rest... mmmm same performance as a 150 buck headphone

Why cant i fucking pause and play?

Don't buy them... the headbands break in under 12 months and Sony won't replace their poor engineering , instead they expect you to pay another 60% on the original purchase price to get an 'upgrade' . Not to mention the other issues like, sound and mic dropping out mid call.. unit turns off even though fully charged... changing settings randomly and can only change it back on the app... go elsewhere.. Sony has created a really expensive disposable item
