Sony WF-1000XM5 vs Bang and Olufsen Beoplay EX

I really love chasing the magic dragon with ear buds and had a lot of fun testing the sony's out with the beoplays! I am honestly thinking that my next stop may be IEMs!

Just got these recently. Hot damn they're amazing. I tried them in store and made up my mind to get these. I've been spoilt down the anc end (wh/f xm4, whxm5, bose qceii, qce ultra). Also had the twx9, mtw3 (rip), b2p, app2 and a few others. The EX is hands down the best. The qce ultra hit me with the bass, but these slaps me hard. The mtw3 with sound personalisation makes it sound amazing, but the EX takes that 2 steps further and widens the soundstage, clears the treble and make the bass much more satisfying. You'll be happy with any of the others I mentioned. They have their own good sound. But once you tried the EX, you realise the deficiencies. The bose bass, while punchy is muddy. The mtw3 feels closed. And no I'm not saying they're bad, they're actually good, it's just the EX just go way above in sound quality. The twx9 is clear and have a good sound separation, but it just doesn't have as nice of a bass hit, even when you eq it. Again, you can't go wrong with any of them. Just write down your priorities (sound, anc, fit, etc) and you'll still be happy. Just don't try the EX.

This was a very good comparison. I have the EX earbuds and I agree with everything you said. Two complaints I have with the EX buds are that they can randomly lose connection for a few seconds, and the app doesn't save the option to cancel noise when making calls, so you have to go into settings to do it every time you reconnect your earbuds to your device.

Ight kinda weird. I consider the 1000xm4 to be A tier sound (though it has to be EQ'd in the app) and the Beoplay A+. Was wondering if Xm5 would be better in sound since they were already so close before. Not sure what to take from this.

Great comparison VDO! I just got my EX yesterday from an irresistible Black Friday deal at the airport. I was reluctant at first cus my focus is the ANC for gym music when I do my daily cardio but once I tried them at the store, i made my decision right away lol. The sound is really good compared to my current Sony XM3 (which is quite crappy) and my previous B&O H5. So I bought and used on the plane for a 12 hours flight. The ANC wasn’t so bad but yes not that good.

Hey,👋 I'm looking for a new pair of earbuds and I'm debating between these two. I'm coming from the Galaxy buds 2 pro which I have lost 2 days ago. You say that the sound quality on the Sony isn't that great but how does it compare to the Samsung Buds 2 pro? Is the sound quality it any better? Are they any louder? I'd assume so since they do cost quite a bit more. I also like to sleep with my earbuds, do you think that the Sony may be uncomfortable to sleep with? As they do appear to protrude out from the ear quite a bit which I'd assume could cause discomfort when lying on the side. As for the B&O's, is the sound quality really so far above the Sony's? Will it really sound otherworldly, coming from the buds 2 pro, or will they sound better but not entirely blow my mind? Are they loud enough? Also, I've heard that they suffer from connectivity issues and that they constantly disconnect from the phone even if it's close by, did that happen to you? If so, how often? Once a week? Once a day? Multiple times per day? And as for the noise cancelling, is it really that bad? I hear that it's so bad that you can only appriciate the sound quality of these buds when in a quiet closed space, but that the moment you step outside, any type of noise so heavily distrupts sound quality that you might as well just get a different set of earbuds, because they would sound better outside. If I try to go to sleep with those earbuds on, and let's say that thers's a person snoring about 2 meters away from me, will the noise cancelling help with blocking the noise? Sorry this came up super long but these are 2 very expensive earbuds so I can really use some advising before making a purchase. Thanks in advance.🩷

All right so to get into the down and dirty of this I just have to say right off the bat. I have the Galaxy buds 2 pro and I absolutely love those buds. The Sony's definitely sound on par or maybe slightly under the sound quality of the buds 2 pro. If I had to choose between the buds too pro and the Sony's if I was choosing specifically based off of sound, I would choose the buds 2 pro if I had a Samsung device because of Samsung's codec. It really does make a difference in the sound quality and sounds great. LDAC is also pretty good but something about Samsung buds on a Samsung device really beats out the Sony's in this regard. If you are an audio file, are you really do care about the sound? Then the b&O's are without a doubt in the buds to get. The sonies are better and pretty much every other regard besides sound, but because the sound is so jarringly better on the b&os, I would choose them over the Sony's every time. Now the b&O's probably aren't the best to sleep with because they do protrude out of the ears a little bit as do the Sony's. Just something to keep in mind. Long story short, if I were to choose between the two, if I valued sound quality in the BNOs would be my go-to's every single time without a doubt, but if I valued ANC and features then I would go for the Sony's. I've had numerous issues with connectivity with a BNOs and the ANC is quite honestly hot garbage, but they sound so amazing that they are my daily buds for every single use case. Even though I have plenty of other buds to choose from, I always grab my EXs. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out. Thanks for watching the video!!

@@StevenMakesVids Hey, It's me again. So I ended up ordering the Beoplay Ex, they came in the mail today, and after testing them for a while, I must say that they are kinda underwhelming... They sound quite a bit worse than my prevoius Buds 2 Pro. Sound clearity is not as good and the maximum volume is not nearly as loud. Videos I've watched said that these earbuds are perfect for every genre, as they will sound great no matter the song, but I found it to be the opposite. I find myself having to change the EQ settings for every individual song for it to sound decent. I have not found a single EQ that works well for all types of music, something I had no issue of doing with my previous earbuds. Why were everyone praising the sound quality of these buds so much? Am I missing something here? I tried alternating between the included eartips and I updated the buds to the latest software but that did not help much. Personally I'm fairly disappointed with them. I think I'll end up selling them. It's a real shame since they had cost me a pretty penny... I'm a bit tempted to buy the Sony Xm5 because I heard that they also had really good sound quality, and many rank them above the buds 2 pro, along with superb noise cancellation, but I don't want to repeat the same mistake again... I may just end up repurchasing the Buds 2 Pro...
