Thanks for the explanation. Just one small point, acording Sony A105 Online Handbook, under the [Music] folder there can be max. 7 levels of sub folders, but I think that is not very common.

Having a device that disconnects from social media/calls/texts when I am out n' about is priceless. If the battery and UI had been better it would have been perfect. I think I should have gotten the A55 instead but that is way it goes.

55 is player only tho, wait for next gen A 100 and ZX500 I guess, as sony got battery figured out after WM1A/Z M2

@@chrisk6474 Do they have microsd cards for files? Headphone jacks? gonna buy 1 tb of space every year or two for your music? What if you forget airplane mode on and miss important calls later on? This hobby has some people that don't think things through.

Great vid! I like my Sony A105. I agree with you that the battery life is short, but battery packs are small and inexpensive enough to use along with it. If Sony tries this again, I hope the device is bigger to fit a better battery. Also, I'd like to be able to USB out and charge at the same time. I have tried several adapters to accomplish this feat, but I don't think it's possible on the A105 without drastically changing the device. If the next generation of Walkman is nothing more than a camera-less Xperia; I'm in. Keep up the great work, NTR!

Probably a dedicated Dac/amp over an AVR, which have very low power output for headphones. If you have other gear hooked up to the AVR and are happy with its performance with headphones you’re using, then you shouldn’t buy anything else until you need to.

Not much. Don’t waste money on these players if you’re happy with your phone.

Can anyone tell me if this device allows you to alter the volume levels on each track individually? This is something I can do on an i pod to ensure all tracks have the same volume, especially when comparing tracks in my collection that originated from older CD's. ( There is a huge difference in volume between a new album bought from i tunes and an old CD from the 90s)

Could you listen to KZread on this A105? My Sony A306 muted when I play KZread via USB-C 😢

you can do DAC through the USB port you need to turn it on through the Android settings for sound and USB it's don't know why Sony didn't make easier to find this you have to look for it is there

Can you send a link of the headphones only avaialable for anc.

Would like to ask for your help, just got an a306 and would like to use the inbuilt Sony player with the cassette ui to open and play downloaded Apple Music and tidal music songs-can you please tell how to do this? I can play offline songs from Apple Music and Tidal, but cannot use the Walkman in built player with the cassette UI to do so. Thanks very much for your help

I don't think you can use 3rd party music players with tracks downloaded from Apple Music or Tidal, at least for Android. There are workarounds, but that requires converting the downloaded tracks using software, then putting them on your player. That's a pain and there's some loss in quality.

Is the music that is downloaded from Spotify to the SD card from the walkman directly are permanently there or if my subscription is expired in spotify the song in the SD card will be locked? Thank you in advance

The A105 does not have a hard reset option. Even though it is Android-based, Sony does not implement that feature. You have to either get the Lock Screen code from the seller you purchased the DAP from, or contact Sony and ship the DAP to an authorized service center for wiping and reinstalling the firmware. If the seller you purchased from did not clearly say that the DAP was locked, you are entitled to a refund. You should reach out to the seller immediately.

Will i be able to use the player with my Sennheiser momentum 3 headphones over USB-C? If not, it’s not a problem because I could use Bluetooth or the analog cable but just curious.

Could you do a review of the Sony NW-ZX507?

It blows my mind how the default player dosen't have a 'order by' for date modified or date added for music. I have over 2000 tracks, and usually I want to hear the ones I just added to the device first. Unless you literally type the track name, you can't see other way. This is crazy.

Does a mircoSD come with it or not?

I don’t think so. You can search the Sony online manual, but I don’t think that’s a supported function.

Yes it has a very good Dac. But the Sony players aren’t particularly powerful, and modern portable Dac/amps can be used for that purpose alone. And yes, you are getting hires through the A105 by itself.

There's a breakdown of the reported info on the walkmanblog: thewalkmanblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/comparison-sony-nw-a100-and-nw-a300.html Frankly, Sony rarely provides info about the internals, including processor, dac, etc; that's proprietary tech they keep from us. Looking at the published material, there ARE differences internally, but whether that means anything is debatable.

Yes. But it’s better than the Hifiman R2R Red…but that’s a very low bar.

i'm serious who buys these things and WHY this is just a cut down phone for More Money when you can just get something like BTR5 or BTR7 and in many cases have more Power More Features cause of the phone for Much Less Money plus if you want Only one device you can go with LG phone that has 4 Dac Chips and great amp for Much Less Money these things are so expensive and they don't do anything more then a phone and dac amp combo like BTR7 or Qudelix 5K not only that but if you get BTR7 or Qudelix 5k or BTR5 you second device will be smaller so really who are these things made for

Some (most) Sony DAPs are overpriced, but this one is around 200 to 300, so the most reasonably priced one. Sometimes (most for me) it is nice to be able to just insert a pair of headphones with no other cables or connections needed. Main issue in Europe anyway is that Sony volume limits their DAPs sold there.
