Morbius is fine. The end credits scenes are the worst part of the film. It is better than the Venom films. Better than the weaker MCU films. Better than any Fantastic 4 film. But still just meh. No idea why everyone is trying to massively over criticise this. Just the sheep mentality. A few people slag it off so all the people incapable of thought jump on the band wagon 🤷‍♂️

This setup was only rendered pointless by making Venom and Morbius good guys, from what I hear of Kraven he’ll be good too. Dammit Sony 🤦 too bad Marvel could not avoid their bankruptcy when they had it that time.

I personally think this movie would have been a lot better if it was directed by a horror filmmaker instead of one known primarily for action.

It's sad that Spider-Man TAS, with all it's many, many restrictions at the time, was able to tell a much more compelling and sympathetic story for Morbius than this film probably ever intended from the start. They rushed this film out, knowing they could get the character's name and likeness out there in the mainstream, just to further set up their Sinister Six movie, I'm guessing the reshoots were only done to establish that the "Venomverse" or whatever the hell it's called, is in fact NOT part of the MCU, and is likely part of Andrew's universe. And if they keep this sh**t up, it's gonna have a really bad, and frankly sad impact on that already struggling universe. Damn you Sony, already botching things up for the 3rd time... Disgraceful.

IMO to this day Spider-Man TAS has the best Symbiote Saga, the best Spider-Verse, best Peter Parker 9aside from Tom Holland IMO) best Man-Spider story, best MJ (take note Raimi). One word for the MCU success: Patient. The MCU started out extremely humble, just a normal superhero movie with Iron Man, all plot points conclude at the end of the movie and nothing got left unanswered. Only a little easter egg in the post-credits scene in case the movie was a success. They played extremely patient, setting up all the heroes with their solid solo movies so the audience gets to know and love the characters before they team up. Every studio after the MCU is just starting to rush out movies and promised a cinematic universe without doing anything to earn it.

Well, they didn't release it on 4/1 for nothing, so the Moral of the story is to never get too hyped up for anything on that day...

I was JUST watching clips of Ghost Rider 2 recently and oh my god…that film is Citizen Kane compared to Morbius lol. Maybe a slight exaggeration, but like yeah Ghost Rider 2 is bad, it’s schlock, but at least it has the filmmakers of Crank going bananas with Nic Cage and has style! Haha

Somewhere in the movie it had 1) society treating them (Morbius and Milo) as outcast 2) uses Red and Blue pill from matrix Red blood- vampire side Blue blood - human side 3)friendship B/w Morbius and Milo 4) them dealing with their new powers and thrust for blood 5) jarred Harris liking Morbius more than Milo Then movie turned out to be 2hr 45min...Sony forced to make it into 1hr 45min...And we got this literally Nothing movie. Which is neither a horror, nor a vampire or superhero movie

So far our “sinister six” consists of: - A guy who literally has NO BEEF with Spider-Man, so much so he deliberately chose to not ruin his life by revealing his identity . - a Dr. “Good guy” who has never interacted with spidey in any possible way - an American “bro” that is the protagonist of a romcom with a black alien goo that quips and basically calls himself a superhero/ vigilante and lick Peter’s face on a screen That’s essentially if Thor, Iron Man and Cap were portrayed as selfish pricks that don’t care about the public and steal. Only for then the Avengers movie have them act as if they were even close to heroes. The only mildly decent way I can see the SS movie coming out is if they parody the hell out of it and straight up make a comedy with an alt universe Spider-Man that acts like an annoying generic hero and gets his shit kicked in.

Maybe I interpreted Morbius "feeding" on the girlfriend wrong. I thought she knew she would die and bit him during the kiss to get his blood in her system. The way she licked her lip when the blood fell in her mouth made it seem like that was the intent.

I just don’t understand how a script was so bad that Leto couldn’t even make any character of it. This role on paper was so suited to him, and they just gave him so little freedom and room to work with.

I haven't seen Morbius yet, but after hearing that Sony took a Lloyd Christmas move and cut out so many good things that could've made the movie better than BOTH Venom movies, my hype disappeared. Sony doesn't deserve the rights for Spider-Man

They most certainly don't. No matter how many mistakes Marvel Studios has made or will make, Spider-Man's still their character and I do think they want to put him to good use. Sony just wants to exploit characters they didn't create and don't understand in order to make a quick buck.

Though I do really like the Venom movies,if I had to choose between what we did get and actually seen Venoms transformation from a Spider-Man villain to an anti-hero then finally a full on hero,I’d choose the latter. (because an anti hero isn’t just a hero that kills people,it has a lot more to do with the morally gray and whether they’re more of a hero or villain than just killing)

The whole story was from SonyVerse. Also, collaborating with Marvel doesn't mean a better movie. Disney made a ton of bad movies. Why can't you accept that NWH is a great Sony movie? I'm still annoyed that No Way Home had a tribute to Arad in the credits. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time, the man has 0 clue what makes these characters work.

Did they not even go down the "blood brothers" route with the two characters? Y'know, cutting your palms and mixing your blood together? Stupid thing to do but perfect for this sort of story.

I think Venom should have started out as a Spider-man villain in the MCU. Maybe he can get his own solo movie as an anti-hero, but it's not an origin story. Morbius should be a Blade villain.

Sony is trying to do what the comicbook industry did in the 90's. Make all these dark heroes, no longer light and fun, but tormented and morally ambiguous. Which is something that we look back on and think was stupid. Yet here sony is, trying to do it all over again

There's nothing wrong with morally ambiguous and/or dark heroes. But it's just how well it is cemented in a piece or character to make the narrative that drives a story the prime focus rather than its overall tone. It's what Snyder occasionally suffers from. Tone over narrative

Try not to think about how much the people who wrote this movie were paid. If they were going to rip off Batman, they should have gone all the way and had Morbius feeding on criminals to satiate his hunger for blood. I came up with that idea after, like, five seconds of thinking.

They want a universe so bad, but do absolutely nothing IN the movies to build one. They just have the title characters and their one villain per movie that they kill at the end. Neither Venom nor Morbius have a supporting cast at the moment.

Imagine the Morbius movie we would have got if Sony Not dying to make him part of sinister 6 and part of Sonyverse.

Irrespective of how bored I sometime feel of MCU, Kevin Feige is a genius without a doubt.. 14 years and the franchise is still growing and creating records.. Sony has made just the same mistake to replicate MCU as DC did rather than taking their own way, and then panicking with a small failure.... TASM was a great launching pad but a little tremble of TASM2 shook them... Just imagine if MCU cancelled future plans after Incredible Hulk, Iron man 2 and Captain America 1🤦🏻‍♂️

They jumped to Bvs and skipped the Batfleck prequel and Mos 2 originally planned, destroyed Suicide Squad, interfered with BvS and JL+future is a history... They never had patience or confidence in the guy they themselves selected in the first place... And for MCU, CA and Hulk had almost negative box office while Iron man 2 was a let down from its prequel. Surely CA was a good movie and neither is Iron man 2 bad

Morbius could’ve been an open door to the darker part of marvels monsters

The movie should’ve been more faithful to the comics. Morbius should’ve gone through an arc about overcoming his ego and selfishness. In the climax, Morbius should have been able to create two cures that get rid of the vampirism and the disease. He would use one on Milo and cure him. Morbius would consider curing himself but would remember that little girl from earlier and he would cure her. The movie would end with Morbius on a rooftop, he sees the woman he loves walking alone and sad in the streets(she wasn’t attacked in my version), he sadly flies away and the movie ends. We get a post-credit scene with Blade coming to New York with the intent of hunting Morbius(my version is set in the MCU).

I love the fact that Tyrese Gibson is so proud of this movie that he thought Martin Scorsese praised it's cinema 😂😂😂😂😂😂 hilarious

“What beef does he have with Spider-Man” is exactly what i said in the theater.

I knew something was wrong when the preorders for the physical release went up the day the movie released.

@@FilmSpeak I actually have an idea for a much better, more simple and easy to understand story for Morbius: have him do his best to find a cure while doing his absolute best to keep his vampire side in check. The more time he takes to feed on someone, the more aggressive his vampire side will get. And eventually he’ll lost control and feed on as many people as possible before fighting back and getting a cure. Make THAT the story. THAT’S interesting and engaging to me. Just to let you know, I know almost nothing about Morbius, so this plot might not work for his character.

It is utterly stupid how Sony haven’t learnt anything. Heck rhe Spider-Man thing was added behind the director back and the director had no intention of following through with it

After No Way Home, I'm not even interested in a sinister six. Their chance was there. We got a sinister 3 instead. Meh. I just want new characters, locations, collars, etc. Overall, I want a GOOD movie. Sony should also take advantage of the fact they're not Disney and go R rated for once.

I enjoyed the movie, I think critic are way too harsh on it. That being said.. the movie was obviously ripped to shreds! Just go ahead and watch the trailers again, it feels like they've removed an entire subplot, shortened other scenes and restructured the entire movie. It's insane.. that's why the film is so messy, rushed and feels bare bones. I really hope they'll release a director's cut or something.

Never mind not learning lessons from TASM2 . These lessons go all the way back to Spider-Man 3 (2007). Morbius is one of the strangest films i've ever seen.

So stupid that this movie is going to kick off the spiderverse. It’s amazing that no one in the studio watched this thing and didn’t scrap it.

the best scenes are when he is on the boat and when he follows those guys from the restaurant into The hideout . the post credit scenes did not need to be included with someone big as Michael Keaton you give him a part in the main movie .

Sony just needs to take a backseat and let Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios control everything.

In my opinion, none of Sonys movies make sense without a Spider-Man.

With all that money and a good cast overall, it's honestly amazing how they made such a boring 'movie'

The Suicide Squad presented an easy formula to make villain protagonists likeable: They're asshole criminals with some sense of morality but still do bad things regardless. Just do that with the Spiderman villain movies Sony.

Morbius was never an interesting enough character to give him his own movie. Could have told this story in a flashback intro through another better movie. Like Blade.

One of the many problems with the execution in this movie was the idea that the synthetic blood only held off the blood hunger for so long, and that the duration was shortening. this was nearly completely relayed in a monologue by Morbius. It would have been vastly better if we the audience were to see Morbious first take the synthetic blood, find that it did , indeed, relieve the blood hunger/rage. Attempt to go back about his life and find that the synth blood only worked for so long. Rely on that duration , but then be struck by the duration shortening, say by being out , well within the established duration of the synth bloods effects, but then he finds himself back in the blood lust hours before would be expected. But, no. It was not to be. They forgot the old movie axiom of "show, don't tell" one again.

Sony once again proves that outside of into the spiderverse they cant do anything good with spidey characters on their own in recent years. This movie is just as bad if not worse than the lackluster Venom films. All Sony should do as of now is TASM 3, Spidey 4 (tobey) and the into the spiderverse movies

The kind of feels like a cheap rip off and a worse version of Dracula untold. Morbius is a deep character that could’ve done well been a good movie. As you said he’s very sympathetic as he ends up cursing himself trying to heal himself and earn money for his village

Right now, the only two superhero films I can think of which are worse than Morbius are Fant4Stic and Batman & Robin (I haven't seen Superman IV). Seriously, Rise of the Silver Surfer, Suicide Squad, Green Lantern, those movies are looking down at Morbius and LAUGHING.

This movie is one guan eater egg to Batman Begins and Blade, yet it couldn’t measure to either.

Either they should stick with animated movies, something short budget, or Marvel should place a quality control, wherein they should eliminate any plots that would flop in theatres even before inception of the movie or dump it entirely before release atleast to save the studios reputation. They could salvage the footage for some series or tv series, so that no one would feel bad about wasting money in theatres.

That’s what happens when you cast Jared Leto in a movie.

What kills me the most about this film is Sony has made 2 of the best Spider-Man films Spider-Man 2 and into the spider verse. Idk what they were doing with this film it should’ve been great but it wasn’t. Leto and Matt smith were the only things I liked about this film.

If sony want to establish a universe, they should establish a trinity, who I think should be : - Spiderman - black cat - rocket racer These 3 should be established first than after that they could incorporate other elements, extand the universe.

I just wanna say....I don't know anything about morbius from the comics and the TV shows. I didn't find him interesting at first until I watched a couple videos on KZread explaining his character from the comics/TV shows (I watched these videos after I watched the movie). This meant that I had a bad first impression of the character after watching the movie and I then thought that the character was the problem and regarded him as the most terrible spiderman villain ever. But...like I said I did watch videos explaining his character in depth (way better than the movie did). I then started to understand the character a lot more and now he's my favorite. It's just unfortunate that the movie was terrible and it's sad that if this is your first look at the character you'll quickly learn to hate the character.

Reports say that Morbius underperformed. Let's hope it gives Sony a wakeup call and improve their output.

Never watched the "movie" so I thought the water was part of the movie🤦🏽‍♂️

They really have the rights to all the spider-Man characters and instead of making a spider-Man 2099 movie or a spider-Man noir movie or a spider-gwen movie or a slik movie but nah morbius

The Kamehameha Wave of bats during the climax had me rollin' on my sit 😂

Sony seems to think that they can make a 'cinematic universe' off of a character who actually belongs to their main competitor, and while they had to work with said competitor to get the hang of things, they still haven't learned their lessons. Hemorrhaging so much money that they couldn't acquire an IP to make into a franchise . Also, that video sponsorship was just as questionable as the movie, itself.

Gentlemen, we've been played, had, lied to and quite frankly bamboozled.

Well Sony was toting this movie as a marvel legend but when I went day one there were 3 other people in the back and apparently they were so excited that one was gagging

Great review, and thank you for appreciating the actors doing the best they can with the little they were given. Jared Leto is a good actor. If the MCU decides to bring in Morbius---which I hope they do---I hope they still have Leto as Morbius. Although he and the other actors were let down by this adaptation, he's a good fit for the character.

Tbh I’m so surrounded by Morbius memes about how it’s the greatest film of all time, that it feels kinda funny watching something that is a serious critique of the movie 😂😂

It’s surprisingly awful. There’s no common theme, nothing new is being told. It’s a bunch of scenes stuck together. It will leave you asking “why?”

Wait wait wait. Aren't Venom and Morbius supposed to take place in the same universe? But in Morbius there's a poster of (a) Spider-Man and, in Venom, Eddie Brock doesn't know who Spider-Man is (hence being confused when he's briefly transported to the MCU). So are Venom and Morbius in the same universe or not?

It wasn't a stand out great movie by any means but it's better than any recent marvel project. This movie gives off early 2000s super hero movie vibes
