Yes, I have used Capture One for many years, and the price of updating is really getting on my nerves. It's a fantastic program and it's very powerful, but it's really expensive, I'm guessing that because the pros that use it get paid in gold, so for them it's not that bad. Sony Imaging Edge desktop is a great program, it works really well, and for manual lenses it's a blast. I'm happy I could help you 🔥

Is there a way to preview and select if you wanna keep the videos after recording? I have an old Canon and just switched to a Sony ZVE-10. And on Canon, I had the Canon software where i could control the camera to focus, shoot and record as well. And I was testing the sony one, the pictures go straight to the computer, but is there a way to do this with the videos as well? - Record it, watch it, discard or keep it without have to unplug the USB and all?
Hey! Thanks for this video! I have a question. Which type of cable do i have to use for a Sony a7iii?
Thanks a bunch. I have a weird thing going on . When I shoot tethered, the shots appear briefly on the screen, but the latest image only lasts a second or two before the screen defaults back to the first image shot in the session. For portrait sessions, when the client is adjusting poses etc., this is frustrating because I have to walk back to the screen and click back on the latest image for every shot. Help!!
Thank you for this super helpful video!! I was able to get my Sony a6400 tethered to my MacBook following your video! I do have a question that maybe you can help with. I sometimes want to use the live view as a monitor to watch when doing macro video makeup application on myself. However the live view is flipped so it gets difficult to use it as a mirror of sorts because the motion is in the opposite direction. Is there any setting to flip the live view?

Hey Kuba, well, this is a problem. For photos, sure, you can tether them straight to the computer, or you can tether them to the computer and save them on the SD card having the preview on a laptop screen. When it comes to video, I'm afraid you can only save onto the SD card, there is no way of saving the video onto the computer via tethering, however, if you need just a preview, you can always press record screen on a Mac, or download a similar program on a pc. Apart from recording the screen I'm not aware of any possibility to transfer full res video to the computer I'm afraid. Thank You for the sub, I really appreciate that!

Hi! No, I'm afraid there is no way to record what you see on your camera screen using this app. I haven't done that before but I think people do that using monitors like the Atomos Ninja V, or you can even use your smartphone and film the inside of your viewfinder, that works too.

Hi Adrian, sorry for the late reply. Yes, I'm afraid the a7sii does support a few of the options available in this app, but if you have a look at the supported devices page, you'll see that whilst display live view is an option, the others do not have ticks beside them, so this is probably why you don't have the focal square appearing. Here is a link to the page of what you have supported in this app: support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/app/imagingedge/en/devices/#emount The a7R IV seems to be the best device for this program, shame it costs an arm and a leg.

It's a great, free program!
Hi Phillip! I was looking for a better way to do this. Since my camera (A 6400) can connect to Wi-Fi, I would like to do this through Wi-Fi so I won't have yet another cable on my desk. Here I've read that it is possible: support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/app/imagingedge/en/instruction/4_1_connection.php (ILCE-1 - point 2 - [Wi-Fi Access Point]), although it must be an old documentation I guess, because some things in the menu don't have the exact same titles/names. But it does also include my camera, right? ILCE-1 must refer to all ILCE I suppose, not just only one camera in the entire Sony lineup... The software sees my camera as "ILCE-6400". SO when opening "Imaging Edge Desktop" and clicking "Start" on "Remote (tether)", in the Remote window I get the message "The camera is not connected. Check the USB or network connection." Emphasis on "OR NETWORK connection", so this clearly means that it is possible through the network as well (or Sony put the wrong message there). Sure, a network connection can also mean LAN cable, but the camera doesn't have LAN (does a camera with LAN even exist?), so the the only type of network connection it can refer to, would be "Wi-Fi".
5:01 can you use this feature with video? Like filming something, moving it and then trying to line it up with the last frame of the video? I want to do this to match two separate videos and make it look like the same clip.

You can film whilst using this program, but I'm afraid it only saves onto the memory card, not the computer.

@@PhillipSkraba and does the overlay feature work? Can you shoot a picture and overlay it at 50% over video to match the video to the image? And does it work with the a7siii?

I don't think so, but you can take a photo when in the last position, and then you'll have that option to match the new frame.

No, I'm afraid not. For smart devices you have Sony Imaging Mobile, I did a film on that too. It requires patience, but it does work.
