Great video! I agree with your review. I originally bought the FX30 and then I sold it. I thought the A6700 could do the job. But… the risk of overheating is there. I do a lot of work in South East Asia and it’s hot. So I bought the FX30 again and it rocks. Now, I use both FX30 and the A6700. The latter is great for shorter videos and photos. And they can share lenses. Loving it! Thanks man 🤜💥🤛

fx30 really improved my work quality coming from a previous a6400 user. But my wheel does not have the same issue. That has actually never happened to me when using the wheel. My only thing is the 2500 second base iso. would have been great if it was a bit higher especially being apsc meaning that the sensor already lets in less light than full frame. Great review.

I own an FX30 and use it for paid work... Must say I love it! Great video, thanks.

Only had mine about a month. I’m enjoying the autofocus and 6k down sampled to 4K images. Being able to reframe shots is a major plus.

Just bought one, and I absolutely love it! Also the low light capabilities are actually pretty good, you just need a f 2.8 or faster lens. And if you can learn to colour grade in log footage then you will have some really beautiful footage.

I have one and yet I had the choice with A7 III OR LUMIX S5MARK II X. And for me this camera is a marvel, there is no photo, I have had it for a short time but I really feel its potential and I find that it is a 4x4 video camera. The image renderings are just sublime, the slow motion just wow.... Even if managing low light can sometimes be less easy than with an A7 iii, I would choose again without any hesitation. Especially since my first camera was an ALPHA 6000, which I keep preciously and with affection, this FX30 opens my eyes to another world. 🤘 I agree that the wheel is not great, I noticed that. 😂 Thank you for all these videos, I am following you carefully... And hello from France :)

TRUE about the wheel! I thought I'm too rough and keep turning off my peaking and zebra.

The FX30 is a nice camera, but unfortunately it doesn't perform well in low light. When I bought the FX3, the difference was huge, now I practically never have to denoise the image.

Nice review, I am confused in between A7Cll and fx30 , has fx 30 much good Video quality than A7Cll. ?

I run the back top wheel as iso in video mode, you can set it so it automatically becomes shutter or iris when you switch to M/photo mode 👍

Do you find the Tamron's 17-70 2.8 VC fighting against the IBIS of the FX30 at the telephoto end during handheld? Some people say you get little jumps in the footage. Is it that bad?

5:55 Is the autofocus really super reliable? I film myself and can't keep an eye on focus. It's only always in editing that I find out. I have a A6400 and autofocus is ok, not great, fails often enough, but largely acceptable. Would the autofocus on the FX30 be better?

Hello, love my FX30 and I got a sony a7IV before, and one thing I wouldn't say is that the apsc sensor is better, not for the obvious reason which sometimes isn't the FX30 for example has great dynamic range! Only that the acces of more lenses is wrong, because most full frame for video can do also apsc, and more than that some are better, the a7IV not the best ff rolling shutter, in apsc it is great meaning better than the FX30! So same acces to apsc lenses with no 32000iso limit and with full frame lenses it can be use also as an ff camera the a7IV for example

Except fx30, why Sony midrange camera does not support raw video shoot external??🤬🤬

I would choose FX30

For me FX30 is a master in long form recording. It has a fan, never even a heat icon on it for a year.

ive had the camera for about a year and ive used it for one music video, and very little else.... its definitely a camera i want to add too my pro's all the settings and tools a videographer needs all the recording options maybe a little too many riggable af my con's battery power is terrible you will be wanting a v mount set up or a bag of fz batteries internal storage is either extremely limited or cost more than buying a atamos ninja and ssd for twice the storage

The battery issue is true! I usually use a v mount battery when I have to shoot for long time

Great video, my man. I currently own the a6700, and use it for both stills and video. However, after watching various videos, and doing my own little comparison, I find the FX30 has that slight advantage over the a6600. I’ll definitely will be looking into purchasing the FX30, but only for video purposes. Knowing me, I’ll probably wind up using it for stills as well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Arigato. 🍻

Why no burst photo? I shouldn't have to buy 2 cameras just because I bought FX30 early. A6700 has it but they released it after. I’m changing brands next time.

You have to expect new updates to new models. Sony sells cameras that specialize in either video or photo. The 6700 is more photo oriented. So is the Sony A7RV but’s it still shoots 8K video. If you’re unhappy with the features of the FX-30, sell it and buy the 6700. I’ve shot Nikon for 5 years and Canon for sometime. In my opinion Sony gives you the most bang for your buck. Best autofocus, best lens selection and the most versatile when it comes to video at almost any price point.

tbh there's an even amount of video saying either the fx30 is good or bad, which is rare for some cameras. Somebody is not being honest 🤨 it looks like alot of creators are trying to stay on Sonys good side or something

Love mine and yes it does shoot good photos too portrait wise. Using primarily for church videos and HS football. No issues at all
