This thing looks like an absolute filming beast! I’ve been looking to pick up an a6600 when they go on sale as a B camera to my A7RIII, but this thing is so sweet!! Just wish it was at least $1k less expensive...

That freaking intro was 🔥. Love seeing cinema cameras coming down in price and size.

6 years wait for a7siii and a few months later we have this! Awesome... Although I actually prefer the colours from your panasonic S5 video. Shame about the autofocus on that... I love the small form factor, makes a nice companion to A7C. Not a very good companion to a wallet tho, especially this year!

I just recently purchased the A7S iii and after seeing your video I think I made the right choice and will probably pick up a second A7Siii. Thanks for sharing your thoughts it was valuable.

Jason that Japan picture is my computer wallpaper! So epic!

I'm buying my first interchangable lens camera and was set on the Sony A7siii until this came out. Now I'm just stuck between the two. Once I think I settle on one, I start to waver and go to the other. Not sure I'd use the EVF of the A7siii, but I've read many comments about how useful they are in the sun. I like the idea of the top handle, but I'm also buying a gimbal and won't that give me a top handle setup? (I plan on buying the RS2 because of the Raven Eye). I like the audio attachment because on paper it sounds like I can have one less thing to carry by not needing my Zoom H6. I know I can get the interface for the A7siii, but the way it attaches to the FX3 seems easier. Would I be able to use the top audio interface while using a gimbal? What would be a good mic to start with using the XLR interface for the FX3? Thanks for any advice.

Seems like the #2 most asked question will be.... the FX3 or the Blackmagic 6K Pro (@$1500 cheaper). I think Sony dropped the ball big time, modern cinema camera should have ND filters.

im not a fan of cinema cameras ever, but its a Jason Vong vid, nice vids dude.

I'm going with the A7S-III as I prefer the optical viewfinder for the photography aspect. Otherwise I really like the FX3, especially the form factor and recording lights. But I also see the grip mount for the SmallRig cage to have a more convenient carry style. Great summary otherwise !!!

Jason, can you make a video about good ND solutions for the FX3 ? And compare them with the "motion blur" options in NLE software. That would help many of us. I know I can step up to the FX6 for the E-ND, but I like this form-factor and don't want to miss the "tap to track focus" of the FX3.

I think I would still get the a7s3, I do a lot of run and gun too and sometimes photography. the A1 is way out of my range but preferred for what I do. Maybe I will save my $ and hope it comes down in price after a while. hmm...always something new and better coming out.

I delayed my siii purchase and now I'm very conflicted with the fx3 launch. I think it really depends on whether the siii gets the s-cinetone profile. I likely will use my current camera for photos and siii/fx3 for video only. Thanks for your video!

hey jason, so i just got my Sony fx3 and tested the battery life for some reason my a7iii performs better battery wise than the fx3 recording straight for 10 minutes, the fx3 lost 10 percent but my a7iii after 10 minutes, lost 6 percent I even recorded them both in XAVC S mode is this a fx3 battery issue?

I'm not tight for the camera, but I'm right for the R-44, another mostly unaffordable thing. Have you done videos on how or where to learn cinematography?

Just out of curiosity... I assume they're gonna sell the top handle individually at some point. Is there anything stopping anyone from just mounting it on an a7s3 (or other camera)? Was the hotshoe on the fx-3 specifically made to withstand the weight/pressure?

I thought about it but i don't know how much the tug would affect the hot shot on the a7SIII. The 2 screws are definitely designed to alleviate pressure on the FX3. Alternatively, they do sell the audio interface without the top handle for awhile now. You can grab that for the s3. Look up Sony K3M!

please let the batteries be same as in my A7S2 as i have around 15 of those lol. do you know if they are please? also is the cinetone a setting? dont think my camera has that?

The thing I don't like about these cameras is the small form factor. I have the A7R3 and the A73. What I would like is a 1DX3 but they are behind these days.

S-Cinetone is coming to the A7S3 soon. This was already leaked.

Thanks for the review. But, one thing I disagree with is that I don't think A7SIII price will drop to 3100 in 2021 though.

I'm a film maker, who deals in fiction based,film making. We have to complete schedules of shooting for 24/30 or even more. Will this camera last, that long? And I'm also someone who fancies, shooting in low light. Will it work???

yo jason, how you taking footage as RAW ?

I have a Sony A7riv and i've had two ocassions where it has shut off because it overheats. Real Pain especially since I live in Arizona. The only reason I'm looking at FX3 is because they say it does not overheat..we'll see when I use it here.
