Sony FE 4/PZ 16-35mm Hands-on with A7IV Cinematic FITNESS VIDEO - Powerzoom - A7m4 Footage
A behind-the-scenes look at a recent commercial shoot with the Sony A7IV & the brand new FE 4/PZ 16-35mm Lens. This is not a review video but more just my first impressions after real world use. The 16-35mm Power Zoom opens up new creative possibilities that are extremely difficult to capture with manual zoom lenses. Not only does it give you precision control over your zooms but also keeps the focus much better while zooming in. I'll do a full breakdown of the shoot later so stay tuned. FULL DISCLOSURE: As a Sony Ambassador I received financial compensation for creating this but my thoughts about the lens are 100% my own. alphauniverse-mea.com/product...
* UPDATE: In the video I mentioned compression versus zooming in being different and this was expressed erroneously. I was referring to Distortion and Depth of Field NOT compression.

    Hey Johnny! Apologies for the late reply, been traveling. Honestly the rolling shutter on the A7IV is not as bad as I thought, I'd say it's usable in about 95% of my shots and in the cases where it's bad I just switch to APS-C mode since that really improves it significantly!

    Doesn't the compression also change when you are scalling in post? If you zoom in on the lense or in post, it might have a noteworthy impact of the optical quality, but aesthetically the pictures will in theory look absolutely identical if they have the same amount of pixels. Of course there is barrel distortion and so on, but the compression of the image will be the same. Or am I missing something?

  • @BryanKeithPhoto

    Your favourite lens is 24-70 GM :) How do you feel about Sony 24-105 in comparison with yours? 1. Image Quality wise (What are the difference in "Cinematic" feeling?) 2. How do you feel about lack of 24-70 in-built OSS? Because your only stabilization is IBIS then. I mean when you imitating gimbal movement with handheld camera. Let's not consider obvious f2.8 vs f4 difference.

  • @jacques_crafford

    @jacques_crafford

    2 жыл бұрын

    The 24-70mm GM is superior in every way. The obvious difference of F/2.8 is the very thing that will make the image look more "cinematic" over than the F4 of the 24-105mm. You don't need OSS if you use IBIS, honestly I don't see any difference in the stabilisation with and without especially with Active Steady. There's absolutely no reason why I would ever put a 24-105 lens on my camera.

    Hi, did you notice any focus jump/focus pulsating when you close up to the subject with autofocus on with this lens? Mine seems to have the issue when I use gimbal to go in closer to the subject's face, it seems to have that zoom pump, but it is actually the focus going error for a very fast milliseconds (or looks like focusing the back of the subject in mine), and then slowly focus back to the subject, and it is quite frequent. Attached here is an example (not my video, but a clip I manage to found online which has the same issue as mine), look at the table at the bottom area and you'll understand what I meant: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqWO0Luql5bggqQ.html Much appreciated for your replies, thank you.
