Just get the Sony 35mm f1.8 (has better F stop / lighter / cheaper) and stitch the landscape photos together that are to wide for one photo. That's how I have done it for years. Or get the Sony 20mm f1.8 + the Sony 35mm f1.8 and you are set for the genres you want to shoot. This combo is still cheaper than the 16-35 f4 pz alone.

Sony assumes you stabilize in post with Catalyst. Which makes some sense if you anyway have a grading workflow, but I personally prefer as little postprocessing as possible.

Time to go frull frame finally. maybe... just maybe

As soon as you spoke I knew you were the guy from DigitalRevTV that tested the canon 650d years ago. I finally found you!

According to many reviews this lens has serious barrel distortion at the wider focal lengths. Much more serious barrel distortion than the previous Sony Zeiss 16-35mm f/4 OSS lens. Barrel distortion is very common among wide and ultra wide lenses. It is very expensive to be corrected optically and that increases the size and weight of the lens. Of course this barrel distortion is fixed digitally inside the camera with jpeg files or video files. A similar situation is the Nikon Z mount NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S lens or the Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G etc. It is a common trick with many lens manufacturers to avoid correcting optically the geometric distortion (barrel or pincushion). They use less lens elements and keep the size, the weigh and above all the price at low levels. That is good for kit lenses but a more expensive lens for serious use must be optical good no matter how much advanced the digital correction technology is.

I couldn't care less as long as the barrel distortion can be fixed without compromising image quality. The camera does it automatically and if you shoot RAW your software lens profile will afterwards. Is it ideal? Surely not. But that powered zoom (ideal for gimbals) requires some sort of sacrifice, and this might just be that.

f4, no stabilization, video lens. I mean... SONY missed a few marks there =l I feel like f4 on a wide lens is just not open enough for any bokeh when doing usual vlog kinda stuff. And like you mentioned that punch zoom is kinda the classic now 😅

it takes amazing pics, as sharp as if not sharper than the G master at the same aperture. check out kzread.info/dash/bejne/pWl4urWgmdPZks4.html this video he absolutely praises the thing over the G master.

They released this wide angle lens purely for video and removed the OSS. So now you also need the price of a heavy gimbal that can manage the heavy lens. This lens creates more problems than it solves.

Oh reading some more reviews, you should use this on a new body with gyro and post process it with catalyst because sitting behind a computer all day is everyone's favourite pastime
