This lens looks very interesting!
Awesome video Kai. Great seeing you yesterday.
39seconds in “thanks for watching - subscribe”. Who can argue with that sales pitch Well I’ve preordered mine... Cheers Doc
An aperture ring with a de-click switch. Why isn't this more of a thing? And it has pretty creamy balls.
Really awesome video, most of my camera gears and equipment are due to your reviews. Real reason why Im broke actually but in a goodway.
Love that the aperture ring is already scratched.
the 20mm looks so nice!
Damn that background is really sharp xD
You should test the images from the same distance using both the 18mm and the 20mm. I saw another guy do it and came to the conclusion that the 20mm is actually more like a 19mm. See if you can duplicate his results.
Yeaaaahh! I wanted that lens, it's going to sell like croissants. Thank You Sony 👏👍
Need more Kai videos in my life
i am excited to see when Kai reaches 1 Million Milestone
Kai you are the best🤙
Superb video as always. I was about to pull the trigger and buy a Zeiss Batis 18mm for landscape and cityscape. Do I now consider this lens? It's cheaper yes, but will the Zeiss perform better for landscapes?
Notification gang love your vid
I love the lens!
Nothing can replace my zeiss loxia kit, lightweight, all metal, and small to carry around...
@DriveCancelDC

Metal doesn't mean good build quality (though the Loxia line has that) and the Loxia lenses are barely any lighter than this one, so those two points you just made don't really mean much.
Best moment of the video with the robbery at 5:50.

Bokehliscious! Impressive stuff that Sony's been putting out recently
I love my sigma 20mm f1.4 ... the best close up sort of macros but nots i did where with that lense, crazy inknow but they look eeeepic

I love the chaotic ending.

I been wanting a nice Sony since the A7 first came out. I was gonna buy one then i found my Leica M9. I still want one but my Leica M9 makes my testicles tingle.
Nice camera
Lens looks good, just wish canon would release a 20mm 1.8 for the RF mount
This guys got jokes! makes me miss london too.
Nice!
Would it be possible in future vids to list what camera the footage was shot on please? It would be a useful historical reference.

@@benw2751 Or crop in with the 24 and get 36mm - decisions, decisions! The 24GM is magical for street and at night and feels great on the camera. It is my best lens and the build quality spoils you for lesser -thinking this new G lens looks a bit cheap up close.

I agree with you about the 24, plus it's faster. Probably better do it all lens but the 20mm with a nifty 50 is a pretty sweet duo to me
🔥🔥
Ty Kai. For the record, you are handsome.
Very nice
Looks awesome, but for that money, wouldn’t you prefere a more diverse 16-35 or 14-24 even? Ofcourse for a few less stops.
PLASTC-THREAD : How about reinforcing it with a minimal step-up ring - or an old bras filter where you'd have first nocked-out the glas.. ?
Damn I'm liking this lens but 1100€...there is definitely cheaper alternatives

I'm not a fan of wide-angle, but I do have a Zeiss Flektogon 20mm f/4 just in case. It's slower and not as crisp as these two, but you get absolutely zero distortion and even closer focussing for only €100 (+ an adapter if you don't already own one)

Samyang 18mm F2.8 is much cheaper. But they are different without doubt. Maybe Tamron gonna launch an alternative in 2020.

Wow, what a classy joint! Would love to see a few more robbers being chased out of shops!! More fun than these lens reviews!
What cam and lens was used for the introduction video?
846k. Let’s get to 1mill. Come on guys!
I wish Sony will make a serie of lenses for very high resolution for landscape photography, compact, rugged, with aperture ring, the 20mm 1.8 G lens looks ok, I wish for macro lenses, manual focusing, with aperture and NO stabilizer, I wish for compact and light 300mm 3.0, 400 4.5 and 500mm 5.6, off course only primes ! Thank you very much Sonu, oh I forgot, please upgrade the 55mm 1.8 with a AF on/on button (or make it in a manual focus version) plus aperture ring ;)
How do you like the 20mm 1.8 vs the 24mm 1.4 GM?
Hello Kai, i am interested in the Anpanman learning books for children at 3:04 where can I buy it for my kids?

Is it normal that something moves inside the lens if on turns it upside down ? Like a inside tube . I can hear it quite clearly . No other Sony lens has that . It moves if the lens if of or on the camera if the camera is switched off . Does not happen if the camera is switched on Is that normal with this lens ?

Good review of the pre production copy,. Kai? From what I can see it looks a bit plasticky in build quality compared to the 24 GM?
@nosignal7156
4 жыл бұрын
Kai is referring to the tip of the front. But both of you are mistaken anyway. Plastic is better at shock protection than metal. A metal filter thread would be instantly destroyed if you bent it just a bit, whereas plastic thread is more resilient.
@chryseass.5143
4 жыл бұрын
@@nosignal7156 Actually, I was looking at the lens body - in Kai's review , it looks a bit of a cheaper build than the 24mm which I own. Of course one would have to view it in person and I am not opposed to plastic (I have no complaints with my Tamron zooms) and, of course, the price point is lower than the 24GM
@nosignal7156
4 жыл бұрын
@@chryseass.5143 I would sort of trust in the other reviewers over your observation in this case. You would have a very high probability to being wrong when the others say the build quality would be the same. Keep in mind Kai would critise that 24GM you have as well, since he apparently prefers metal filter threads that pass on Shock waves directly onto the lens elements.

have you notice than the lenses slide inside the objectif when there isn't in the camera ? the mine do this... i'm scared
@Kai W are you heading to the 2020 photography show ?
Sorry if i missed it in the video but what camera is that?
24mm 1,4f is still the best option it has that additional compression for more bokeh and also 1,4f, at wider lenses the difference between 1,8f and 1,4f can be felt... All in all ~20mm-28mm lenses are the most versatile on FF cameras If I had to choose one lens to have on the camera, that would probably be 24mm 1,4f :)

Hey Kai, I just wonder whether you authorized somebody to reupload your video to bilibili?

This is where you go when you don't own a Sony system, but you want to see what they're doing with their optics and have a few laughs at the same time.
Surprisingly big for a 1.8 considering how small the 55/1.8 is. 281 vs 373 grams of weight. It must be that big front element that weighs it down and widens the housing.
all those photogs publish their sony20mm review today and where do you think I go first? yep, here
Olympic Games pre training at 5:54 haha~
