Really enjoying your channel! Insightful and fun, easy to understand for beginners, while the pacing is not to slow for more advanced viewers. I recently purchased an a6600 for my channel (not yet used) with an 18 - 135mm & 55 - 210mm. Would love to see a review video of all your favorite APS-C lenses!
I bought the a6400 a few months ago after watching several KZread reviews. Haven't regretted it since.
Yes, I'm always looking for APS-C lens recs!!
Thanks you so much for this guide! You never cease to impress with Ur timing!
Its worth mentioning that the 5100 has major overheating issues in video and the step from the 5100 to the 6000 in terms of function and build is huge. Good option for a simple second camera angle 👍
Your explanation is so good. In my mind no questions remain after watching ur video. And thanks for extra tips.

Great review Jason. Very comprehensive!
Jason perfect timing as always, did my research for months comparing with other brands for a travel camera. Almost pressed the buy button on the Sony a6500, got the a6400 instead solely based on your recommendation thanks! Also picked up the a7III currently on sale at B&H photo.

I'll love to see a lens buying guide for aps-c! I know the sigma trio are some excellent lenses, but what about if I want to go wider o to take some macro shots without going FF glass? 🤔
Just bought my a6000! It's my first camera outside of point-and-shoots, so I'm very excited to learn and experiment with different styles: fashion self-timer shots 🤣 and on the other end of the spectrum, action figure skating shots.

A6500 is just 🔥 amazing for automotive photography
I needed this video, thank you! Do you think that with the 6100 having no color profiles for video would be a problem with color grading well?
I've been shooting 5 projects with the a6400. After going with a6500 / a7rii / a7iii and GH5. The a6400 is the Best run and gun solution for me. I will get an *a6600* for a new documentary project i will shoot next month and use the a6400 as my second cam. I've just sold my a7rii.

@Gesskay ! I agree with you, those are the only differences. Working with a gimbal is not at all how i like to shoot so having just the IBIS is much more convenient for me. I'm quite steady even without Ibis nor OSS. I've shot a videos series for a client with the a6400 and the sigma 18-35 and i had the a7rii with the 85mm f1.8. At this focal lenght i need IBIS. But i really want the autofocus tracking, it's so much easier to work only on lighting and composition then. After working with a lot of different cameras the last 6months, i know what i need for the next projects to come. I could shoot all day with the a6600 /sigma 18-35 and have the a6400 on a tripod with the 85 f1.8 for a second angle. Thanks for your recomendation for the grip, i might get this one to not worry for the a6400. Have a great day 😊

I have really been struggling with making a decision on which APS-C camera I want to purchase. Until now, I have only shot stills on Nikon, and all video has been filmed on my iPhone X. I am getting into a little bit of Vlogging and some minor film making etc.and I wanted an entry-level camera that checked a lot of boxes. I have watched videos on the Canon line-up such as the M50 etc, but I think I am going with the a6400 based on your review, so thanks for helping me out with my decision. I always trust your advice and enjoy watching your videos. Peace!

Awesome video...
Jason, you did a guide on full-frame lens, how about one for APS-C lens for Sony E-Mount? thanks!
this might sound really stupid but i really recommend the smallrig L bracket for the a6400! It makes the grip so much more comfortable and also makes your body a bit heavier and bigger which feels better in the hand! Also people that don't know anything about photography link a big camera to good quality photos and a small one to amateurish work!
very exellent and professional episode it is, I really impress and subscribed you. few days before i got a6400 with sony 18-135 kit lens. it is amazing experience. For another additional lens which one best lens you will recommend me ? Thanks

Keep shooting with what you got now and see what photographs you gravitate more towards. If it’s more portraits, 56mm. If it’s more landscape, 12mm or 16mm.
I have the 6500, I thought about up/downgrading to 6400/6600 but just going to stick with my 6500 it still very accurate and for photos it's nice to have that ibis, I have done up to half second handheld shots with my 6500 i am surprised you did not recommend the 18-105 F4 G it's around the same price as the 18-135 constant F4 and internal zooming
Jason, There is a hidden feature/bug in the a6400 no one seems to be talking about. In Animal eye af mode +af-c +af wide, if you put your eye to the EVF you can then use your thumb on the touch screen to instantly and temporary move a small/medium flexi spot (and center button to go back to wide). Only in Animal mode, not Human. I love this "bug/feature" for stills and wish it worked in Human mode too.
The really cool thing about APS-C is that you can buy the cheap anamorphic lenses that are aps-c sized like the Siruis and still use them in 4k.
I’m still rocking an old NEX-6 but having occasional technical errors - “lens not attached” and sometimes out of focus. I’ve missed some shots having to reattach lenses. I’m thinking it might be time to upgrade to the a6600.
Hello Jayson! I have a A6400 but because of this vid I needed a 2nd camera for shooting videos. I got an A6600, why not full frame? I was too scared for the price of the lenses haha

Hey Jason. I pretty much only shoot photography (mostly travel landscape [trekking etc] and street/lifestyle portraiture). I've been shooting the a6000 with a few different lenses (10-18, 50mm, 16-70z etc.) since 2015 and have loved it. I however feel i have outgrown it but going FF is not an option for me as i need the portability of APS-C. I've been playing with the idea of the a6400 for a while as the upgraded processor, viewfinder res and AF system looks so awesome. But i was wondering if you think it's worth going all out for the a6600 for the larger battery and IBIS for my kind of work as it's a bit of a big step up in price from the 6400. Or would you think getting the a6400 is better right now and use the extra money to go toward some new glass like the bliss looking new G series zoom until a more overhauled Sony apsc system is released? thanks in advance for your advice bro!
Hi sir jason! I am a big fan of your yt page! Humbly asking for your opinion. I’m confused what to buy between a6300 and a6400. I’m on a budget of 800USD and currently leaning on used a6300 with a prime lens rather than the a6400 with kit lens. Is it a good choice? Or would I opt for A6400 with kit lens and probably save for a nice prime? I will really appreciate your answer. God bless!
I did use an external microphone with my old a6000. It's a ECM-XYST1M that connects via hot shoe. To be honest, it's 2019, I have Sony A7III, my GF - a6300, we still are using this microphone to record audio: concerts, lectures, homevideos and so on. So the information about cameras without 3,5 mm input Jack is kinda misleading. I couldn't use external microphone and flip up screen at the same time (even if my models had one) because this mic stands at the top of the camera on the place of the flash. But works great.
Guess I'll be doing an UnBoxing of the 6100 as I was torn between the 6100 vs M50 from Canon.
Sold my a6500 a few months ago. Cant decide what to get next. Should I stick to apsc or go full frame.
Apsc lens vid please🤙🏿
I own an a6000 and felt that I want an update for 4K. Instead of trading it in for an a6100, a6300 or a6400, I went ahead and bought an E-M10 III after I heard the new about Olympus. I bought the Oly for 4K, IBIS (a bonus over the Sony models I've mentioned), silence fully electronic shutter and its retro look. So I have 2 systems complementing each other.
Thanx for all the info bro, I have a G85, m50 and a5100. I don't know what next, was thinking GH5 but like sony's awesome AF. grrrrrrrr what to buy? :(
Small thing, just to prevent confusion for someone. Larger sensors don't give you more bokeh. It's the distance from subject that does it. A crop is just a crop. It would be appropriate to say that full-frame cameras give you shallower DoF with the same lens if the size of the subject in the frame is the same as when shot with an APS-C camera. You have to be closer to the subject with the full-frame to get the same angle of view and being closer to subejct, longer focal lenght and larger aperture are the three main things that give shallower depth of field.
I just bought a6400 recently. Funny story, before I use it, My table broke while the camera drop (4ft) is the a6400 shock proof? What should I check?
Thank u for this video and for the cool channel. My current problem is that I bought the a6300 for travel and discovered that I want to photograph more. My friends asked me to do event photography and now I have a problem with the noise in the photos. I don't actually have the money to update to full-frame but was wondering if there are some lenses/gear to help me with this issue. I currently have the Sony 16-55mm, 16-55g, 35mm, 55-210mm and a lot of Minolta analog lenses that I don't think I should use for events.
I bought a 6500 2 years ago with an 18-105 and have no intention of upgrading at this point.

I ordered a second hand a6k on Amazon yesterday, for just 250$, body only .. though it has only 1 month vari warranty. Am very excited right now, although extremely scared, that what I end up with a brocken camera .. Currently I'm in Japan so that one would be definitely Japanese settings too. Gotta find a good guidence to check a6k.
Going to buy a Sony APS-C in a couple of days. 99% it's gonna be the 6400 (if for some miracle there'd be a massive sale on 6600 I might choose that, bu not likely :)), so now just trying to pull in as much info as I can. Don't wanna make some costly mistake :D A bit afraid of the lack of IBIS, I'm going to use it for 70-80% video, but most likely going to buy a Zhiyun Weebill S, and shoot on a gimbal, with OSS lens. I'm so pumped, can't wait, but a bit terrified, because at the end it'll be like 1800-2000$ which is not a small amount in my country :D Cool video, some interesting stuff, thanks Jason! It'd be cool to see a video about the lenses. My first idea was to buy the body and the 18-105 GMasters, but read really good things about the 18-135 kit lens, so I think I'll go with that, and later add some prime wider lens (heard good things about the 35mm). Not sure how much light do you use when shooting video (other than the blog), but some pointers about buying light source (what kind for certain photos/videos, what should we consider, etc) would be helpful too :) Thanks again, great channel
