I got the A7RV mainly for landscape, portrait and stills work. It’s an outstanding camera. I agree with you on the AF. It’s superb!
I stumbled on your top 10 lens reviews vid and subbed from there, and this is another great video. I have the A7rIV and agree with a lot of your views on it. I almost always manual focus at 5 or 10x so for me it's still a great camera. I used it in tandem with my A7IV for an event and definitely noticed it missed a lot more the the A7IV. Might be worth reviewing the 70-200 f28 GM II if you can get your hands on one. It's by far my favourite lens, and is so staggeringly sharp and precise. The images it renders are jaw dropping. Anyway, all the best for growing the channel. I'll be watching ( from the UK 👋)

Thanks so much for the sub! I actually have used the 70-200 2.8 a little bit and LOVE IT. So sharp and renders like a prime!
Great video. I appreciate you sharing your take on the riii, riv and now the rv. I had a similar experience with the riii, my most used and some of my best images came from it. The riv was only good with primes, and I feel I fist more shoots than I caught, really disappointing. I would really prefer the riii sensor in the a7iv body, but you make the rv sound like a real improvement over the riv.
Man that scenery is insane, thanks for the vid, I have just subscibed. I am new to the camera world

Thanks for the sub!
Nice camera. I would love to buy it sometime in future. At the moment have Sony A7III and so far happy with it. A quick question - the gloves that you are wearing, does it keep you warm plus allow you to click pictures without having to remove of off your hand? If so, then please let me know the brand 🙂
I never understand the complaints about the ergonomics of (recent) Sony camera's. I like the ergonomics very much.

I've been a Sony user since the original a7. I think they've come a long way, but the criticism about the width of the camera from this video aligns with my feelings. With a large lens or gloves it is "cramped" and would benefit a lot from being slightly wider, which Canon and Nikon both provide.

I’m like you I love the ergonomics and customizable features of the Sony bodies. Plus Nikon and Canon are ugly cameras IMO. Sony is much sexier and sleek looking. I think they resolved your concerns in the A9 III body. It feels great in the hands.
Hello, at 6:52 have you cited Sony 70-200 F4 GM II ? Are you sure ? Sony 70-200 F4 II is not GM but only G ?
Since you guys try different systems I would love to see you guys review the Lumix S5 mark 2 🙂

@@summitbid thanks however I should have specified that I’m looking from a photo perspective.
Thanks for the video. Like you I’ve owned every A7Rx up to an including the RV. Also got an A7CR to compliment it and lighter for travel. I also do shoot Canon but my EOS R5 is not 61 Mpixels so the A7RV is my landscape camera. Putting together a travel kit and wondering if I should get the f/4 70-200mm GII. Macro to add to it. Already own the GM II version but looking for lighter. I didn’t get to new FE 20-70/4 but instead opted for the new FE 24-50/2.8 Gto keep it small. Also own the FE 24-105/4 which may nit be as sharp but still a great lens. New to your channel and have subscribed so I need to look at your other content. Take care.

The 70-200 f4 is a great lens but is not as good as 70-200 GM II. The smaller size is nice but the gmii is actually not that much heavier (~300 grams is all) and the boost in IQ is more than worth it to me.
How is the low light performance for both video and photo? What's a safe ISO you wouldn't go past if you're using a 2.8 aperture lens and up? And has this camera overheated during your usage? Debating on getting this bad boy for future gigs
@summitbid

I wouldn’t go higher than 3200 iso. Low light is solid but not as good as lower megapixels. It’s never overheated at all.
Another great video! Between the riii, riv, or iv for landscape and portrait which would you pick?
@summitbid

So the a7R V Gets my pick as the best, BUT the Sony a7RIII is an absolute BEAST of a bargain for landscape photographers. The sensor produces images on par with current cameras (Sony a1, canon r5, Nikon z9, z8 are similar but not better). I also found the AF to be more accurate than the a7r IV.

@@summitbid If both the Sony a7riii and Sony a7riv were available at the same price, you would recommend the riii?
Not sure what you’re hammering on the A7RIV for, but it’s like the RV but previous gen. Never have any problems with the AF
Great great video. Is the photo at 0:16 focus or exposure stacked?
@ThatNorma

Probably none. The A7rV has great dynamic range

Have you tried sony's 20-70 f4 for lanscape? I heard that it's good.

I have! its a great lens!
What's that tripods mount piece that's attached to the body and between the lens?
@summitbid

It’s the SmallRig Rotatable Horizontal-to-Vertical Mount Plate Kit. I talk about it more in the Sony A7rv guide here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJeXj7inZJXLfZc.htmlsi=uTsqOp1KEIKpRUVg
The A9III has a significantly wider body and grip. So, it's very likely that body design will trickle down to the A7V and A7RVI in the future.
Do you still do landscape photography vids? Another quick question. Have you played with the Fuji GFX System at all for landscapes? If so? Happy shooting.
@ThatNorma

Not much to be said there, GFX is amazing for landscape but extremely expensive and no a big variety of lenses as you find in other brands. Also heavier

So I have tried the gfx and while I love it, the big issue for me is the telephoto options. The 100-200 is not a very good lens. The chromatic aberration is horrendous (sometimes unfixable) and is not sharp enough to keep up with 100mp. I have not tried the 250 prime though. It’s a 2024 project to get the gfx 100II in to review and make a guide on.
is there any green color shift in high iso ? how to deal with it in post ?
@LexanderMiller
Ай бұрын
Idk if you got your answer elsewhere but he’s a landscape photographer, hes not going to use high ISOs. But the answer is yes there’s a slight green tint at higher isos you just fix in post.
Hi, what are your thoughts on the A7M4? is the r5 so much better than the m4?

My brother made a whole video about the the a7IV for landscape here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rGWJ19yvZLKeobQ.htmlsi=bljDziqLTeEF4YPt . I have only used the a7IV limitedly but was not overly impressed with the image quality. Even now in almost 2024 I would buy the a7rIII over it for landscape or even just stills in general

@@summitbid thanks man 😄
Is it true that the ISO is maxed out at 3200 on the A7RV? Kind of a deal breaker for one that loves low light photography. Thanks for sharing!
@summitbid
Күн бұрын
No it can go much higher. I personally don’t go above 3200 for my work… but honestly it’s not terrible up to 12,500

A7riv would do just as well. Landscapes just dont make use of all the AI focusing. A7riv focuses perfectly as long as you're not motion tracking. You must have had a faulty unit.

I used the a7riv for and the rV is a better camera. The rIV struggled with accuracy and the IBIS was not even close
@markrigg6623

@summitbid I own both cameras. And yes the ibis is better, even though I wasn't referring to that. Mine focuses fine on static subjects.
