Definitely do it. I didn’t even ask for one and Josh was on it. Of course, in his case, I think he loves teaching me how to do things. I don’t know why I make it difficult for him. I love learning but for some reason I’m rebellious if he’s the teacher

That’s awesome often times my wife tags along and I feel bad because sometimes you just have to spend a long time for the right shot. I recently suggested she have her own camera as well to create a tag team duo 🙂. so far, no bite. Good luck.

That’s an excellent point. I think that’s what changes the experience for me. I think about other people seeing the images and wonder if they’ll like it…but if I love it, that’s all I need to worry about. I love a ton of things. 😊

That was my favorite part of the video! We have so many squirrels in our yard but that one was at the park. I’m pretty much obsessed with squirrels

Katie: Yes, watching the duck slide on and off the ice and into the water was fun to watch, and cute, and adorable, and interesting to "others" too. Watching someone enjoy what they are doing and experiencing is always a pleasure to witness. Really looking forward to the side by side image comparisons that will be coming. Josh: Your "new" job is to enjoy all the times when Katie has a better image than you. Then you can ponder on G.A.S. and experience, talent, skill and luck some more, as you patiently wait for the Z400 2.8 and/or the Z800 6.3,

Yay Ted. 😊 I get so excited every winter about seeing birds slipping and sliding on the ice. A couple years ago we saw a ton of geese land on the frozen river and just go sliding like total goofballs and I just keep hoping I’ll see that again one day and get a video of it because it made me laugh so hard.

Katie will never be sorry. I own the A7 IV and the A1. I offed my Nikon system and never looked back. Great video kids…..

Great choice Katie. Love the A7RIV. 61 mbs of pixel goodness. I used that for a year before getting the A1. 7RIV is my very capable backup and video cam. Love it. Enjoy!

Well Katie, you enjoyed the Duck slipping off the ice and that's what really matters. When we get consumed by what others may or may not like, we lose focus on what's the important part, us behind the camera doing what appeals to us. That 100-400 lens is also very sharp, I have it in my newly converted from Nikon to Sony collection, it also works very well with the Sony 1.4 teleconverter, even if it does limit you to f8 at 400mm, but it's still very sharp for a tele on a non prime lens, maybe Josh can push the boat out and find one for you somewhere. Josh, as always, a good video, thank you and keep 'em coming.

Well at least now they're won't be a competition between who gets the big glass... you're on different camera systems now. Congrats to Katie for getting a sparkling new camera. Should be great for video too.

Awesome! So gad she's out capturing and having fun. I can recommend the A7IV as well. My bird apparatus is that body with the 200-600 while I wait for a Z9. Not a fan of the color rendition or rolling shutter, but it nails focus so well. The Z7 is my landscape body for sure hands down.

Nice move and good choice for what’s in front of the camera. I envy you, I’m solo with the Mrs back at home doing what she likes to do.

Nicely done, Katie. Though I’m deep down the Nikon rabbit hole, I’ve said many times recently that, "irrespective of which gear tribe you belong to, what a greeat time to be a photographer/videographer”. There are many lens/body combos that afford us the technical advantage of increasing the odds we’ll get the shot/footage we seek. The key is if she likes the feel/weight of what she has, she’s far more likely to keep using it. I know you know that but kudos for encouraging her choice. Happy shooting together.

Love it. Getting my wife more into to it as well. I gave her the Z62 now since I have 2 Z9's for weddings and such. She did get to use the Z9 at the zoo yesterday and loved it. Always nice to enjoy the hobby together. Makes it much more fun for both. Cant wait to see her images now!

Nice video! Enjoyed it as always. There's no bad camera nowadays. They all come with pros and very few cons. I personally went the the Sony way years ago for their autofocus and compact design. I think that makes it a little easier to get into it. Pretty sure Katie will have a lot of fun with her new camera. Thanks for sharing! Love your content!

Congrats Katie, good choice, switched to Sony 2019 from Z6 & D850 and never looked back. Currently my GF and I are using 2x Sony A1 and 1x Sony A7SIII. Awesome system .... no complaints at all so far

I almost bought a Sony .... then Nikon announced the Z7 and I never looked back at Sony again. Partly because I think Nikon is a better all around camera. I now also have the Fuji GFX 100S, which I'm really enjoying, so I 'm not totally stuck on Nikon.

Sony is a far better system, at this point than Nikon. Z9 is the exception. I shot Nikon for years and the A7iii, a7riii etc, all far far superior to Z7ii or Z6ii. Z9 is epic but Sony has very similar dynamic range and resolution, etc.

Well, don't try a Sony for any extended period of time...it is as advertised. Nice image quality and really fantastic AF tracking. It just makes things easy!

I've got a a7iv on pre order and will be giving my a7iii to the Mrs when it arrives as she always enjoys having the camera but doesn't want to spend money on new things. The sony 200 600 lens is fantastic, I've got that on the a7iii just now. Internal zoom and quarter turn takes you from 200 to 600 quickly. Off to grab the Mrs and get her to watch this as a) she likes your videos b) she is very similar style to yours Mrs, she goes off wanders whilst I sit and wait.

I was really pushing that 200-600. Katie wanted something lighter. that has always been her biggest complaint with DSLR's. they were just too heavy. She is really enjoying this A7iv

The end of this was cute. My girlfriend loves joining me when I photograph wildlife. We did Yellowstone three times last year and spent a total of about 28 days in JH and Teton park. She saw her first wolf on our second trip and decided she needed a Vortex spotting scope. I'm an R5 shooter and know nothing of such things but she picked it out and the last trip, bought an Iphone mount. Watching her light up the first time she watched wolves with her own optic and taking video through the phone mount was magical. I think she has the bug for wildlife videography now and I love it :)

Welcome to the dark side, Katie. Nah, seriously I really don't gaf about camera brands, I just shoot Sony because my uncle shoots it, so that's what I picked up the first time when I wanted to graduate from point and shoot to something more serious. It's just thrilling to see someone excited about starting a new chapter in their photography journey. I have that 100-400 GM and it's a beast. One of my "pry it out of my cold, dead hands" lenses. The new OM-1 seems to be a wonderful option for nature and bird photography. The much smaller weight and size of the telephoto lenses are a real advantage.

Congratulations Katie. Shoot those birds! Sony is smaller and the feel is great for smaller hands. But now the Nikon lenses are safe and sound for Josh to use!

u were very right in this decision. for many reasons. i also think z6ii sucks. trayed it, dumped it. your wife seemed so extremely happy shooting with it, it was so worth it. this is a most capable body, and this is a good, varsetill, light lens. and she have here Spirit big enough to back u up to now while u took your own path - as my wife do, that's why i love here so much. wish here great photos and lots of good moments with it!
