    Hiya, I'm fairly new to the in-depth photography/videography world! I have always been interested in videography, I used to shoot at home shorts with my friends on my old Flip Video Camera and take pictures with my mom's old Nikon D200. Since I am in the middle of college, I figured I would take the leap to try out some more serious work and splurged by getting the A7IV after doing countless hours of research. I landed on your channel in the middle of researching and I've loooooved all of your videos because they pretty much cover everything I could ever want. Especially when it comes to achieving the look I want with my footage for my school/personal projects! Looking forward to more vids and congrats on 5k, you'll be at 10k in no time :)

    Hey everyone, Loved the video! Amazing look you achieve on your footage. I struggle a lot with my colorgrading usually and this video was the first one that made me consider change to DaVinci for my color grading. Amazing work! I might make another video like this with Premiere Pro!! P.S. Initially, the video was 47 mins long... LOL if you guys want to see the other clips being edited, let me know! maybe ill post a part 2 or 3! 😇

    @victorlaforteza Thank you for the great Video. What do you mean with "CST"? Catalyst Browse from Sony? Thats the only free editor, which i know, who can grade up the 10bit files from my A7IV. If there any significant quality differences to downgrade my 10bit to 8bit and grade up in da Vinci, or record in 8bit and grade up the native 8bit file in da Vinci? Because in da Vinci, always it is a 8bit file only.

Let me just ask your something: I'm switching from my Canon T5i to the Zve10, and I searching about conversion luts, I found some content saying that was best to use Slog2 on Zve10 just because the camera is an 8 BIT, and Slog3 would not be recommended to recover some information etc. I want to know, how can I achieve a great look to my images using your presets with Slog2?

    This is a great grading process. The prism blur effect is new to me so I’ll definitely try that out. I was wondering though, why don’t you use color space transform to convert the footage to Rec. 709 first, then add a lut in a separate node? Just curious because I do it that way and I’m wondering if there is a benefit or not! Thanks!

  • @VictorLaforteza

    @VictorLaforteza

    2 жыл бұрын

    Prism blur is a must try! Great question! The LUT I created is my rec709 CST :) either I use that lut or a CST based on what camera I used! The LUT is the filmic rec709 conversion for slog3 specifically for a7iv/a7siii/fx3. Some LUTs are made for conversion and some LUTs are for looks (applied after CST). The typical grading workflow is still there just a little different based on my a7iv grading! Hope that helps!

    Hello Victor. Do you use autofocus with the Sony A7IV or manual focus for your footage, like the ones you showed in the other video? How good is the out-of-the-box conventional video, without shooting s-log?

  • @VictorLaforteza

    @VictorLaforteza

    Жыл бұрын

    I usually do both manual and AF but before I used to rely on the AF a lot and Sony really made an autofocus system that is reliable. The footage looks good without any picture profiles too! Although I would recommend shooting s-cinetone for a better look. It’s straight out of the box no need to color grade

    @@VictorLaforteza do you actually change the slog3 pp settings when using the mist filter. because usually the details are set on -7 but because you lose sharpness when using this sort of a filter I was thinking to change that setting.

    Hey everyone! I´ve been trying to migrate to DaVinci, but I´ve being facing the same issue everytime. Some sort of color artifacts appear on my footage, and it literally ruins the whole thing. It shows up on almost every clip I import into DaVinci. I´ve googled a bunch of things and no one seems to know how to fix that. At the moment, I´m still stuck with Premiere, since those issues don´t show up at all over there.

If the client requests 4k, that's the only time i will do it :) Also!! you can also shoot and edit 4k with proxies even if you have an old computer!!

    No, you can use any LUT you want as I mentioned in the video. The Free Sony LUT is available on their website and on davinci resolve. The vintage look pertains to the added effects after you have corrected and graded your video. Great for you to assume you need to buy my LUTs.
