I see a massive difference between my zv1 and my iPhone 15 Pro. Im glad i got the zv1!

I own a ZV-1 Mark II, iPhone 14 Pro, and Fujifilm XS10. I use the Fujifilm for photography and videography for specific projects, but after testing my ZV-1 Mark II, it is undoubtedly superior to the iPhone and other smartphones.

love the softness/ real of the cameras. the iPhone 14 pro is good but definitely makes it look digital with the sharpness

It's not sharpness, but massive oversharpening. Basically the same as setting TV sharpness to the max. It looks awful and doesn't really improve actual detailedness. It only produces unpleasant halos.

I’m genuinely surprised how much I like the a7c as a 2nd option to my a7r3. It’s an impressive little camera for sure.

I recently switched to the a7c from a a7iii because of weight and size and in combination with Samyang Tiny series lenses it is an awesome combo for traveling.

I’m not a vlogger, but the travel kit I’ve become very satisfied with is very close to this set of cameras because I travel light. I take most trip pics on a compact Sony RX100, and pull out the A7C from the bag when I am taking the time to make a serious photo (night/low light, full frame, on ultrawide or long telephoto lens).

I used to shoot professionally and carry gear lenses everywhere. Now I have an Iphone 14 Pro and it is more than sufficient to capture amazing footage, images and simple to take anywhere!! Thanks for this comparison, well done!!

Great comparison! I have had the A7C, ZV-1 mk1 and an iPhone 12Pro Max before and vlogged with all of them. While the A7C is full frame and a great camera to hold, the stabilization was terrible (sold this camera before I heard about catalyst browse) I do agree that the image quality on the iPhone is great, it is a bit to sharp. I have a ZV-1 mk2 arriving today and am looking forward to vlogging with it again. It's a great little camera!

I used to have an A7C too. I used Catalyst Browse, but found it softened the image too much. It was definitely degrading the resolution. I have a GH6 now and it's buttery smooth when vlogging. I did like the A7C's stills though.

i would say using a kit lens should never be an example on a decent camera. Just slap a cheap 20mm prime on and you are good to go with vlogging :> Besides that, especially it was interesting to see how crazy oversharpened the iphone looks.

Awesome video 👏🏽. What’s amazing is that Creators are spoilt for choice! There are minimal differences between cameras these days and all that is left is to offer is good quality content. Personally I prefer full frame cameras purely for the look but lots of Creators on KZread as well as field journalists for example, have built their entire careers on using a smartphone. So if you’re a creator using any of these tools, don’t forget to have fun and know these tools are just tools and that you’re the storyteller. So go out and show us the world from your perspective 😄. My favourite is the little camera. The big one seems like it has diminishing returns on QoL and usability as it needs to house more raw power. The iPhone just looks too fiddly, and the output looks too smudgey and too crunchy at the same time.

I think that these days almost any camera can produce good quality photos... But there is a catch. Differences start to get much bigger in tough lightning conditions. Colors, sharpness and everything else seems to go away pretty fast on small sensors (and plastic smartphone lenses).

My mum asked about getting a point and shoot camera and I told her to just upgrade her phone if she wants good pictures. She’s has an iPhone 8 Plus so pretty behind on current phone camera quality. Plus she only posts pictures to Facebook and sends flowers to our family group chat 😂. I don’t see the point for a point and shoot for most people these days with how good the phone cameras are.

I agree with you. But a premium point &shoot camera will be slightly better or the same with a $1200 smartphone. Plus the fact you can use a very nice Flash 📸 which is a game changer!! A flash on a point and shoot camera is a crucial point where changes everything.

Iphone or Galaxy ULtras are more then enough for vlogging, (In better light). But for anything serious abt photography or taking prints, a interchangeable lens camera even if 10 years old will produce lot better results.

I use the A7C as my walking around camera. I love the size, weight, and full frame sensor. However, it has some pretty substantial limitations - especially its viewfinder and rear display. Many things, such as eye tracking, interface, and color (even in RAW files) are not nearly as good as on Sony cameras like the A7Rv or A1. On the other hand, I get some really nice photos with it. I would not use the kit lens with it. The 24, 40, and 50G 2.5 primes are a really good match for it in terms of size, weight, and capability.

​@@lamiafarjana1990 I am not joking. It's important to understand the benefits and limitations of cameras at different price points. Someone who is willing to spend $7K on a camera might do just fine with an A7C. Maybe they need something small and light, and don't need the additional capabilities that the A1 offers. Or maybe their requirements make the A7RV or A1 the only options for them. The A7C is much easier to keep with you all the time, and therefore is more likely to get shots that you wouldn't get with a large, heavy camera. The A1 and A7RV are much more capable cameras, but size and weight are likely to constrain where and when you can have them with you.

I personally think at this point cameras and top end phone cameras have all reached a point where the only factor that differentiates a great photo from a good one is the person taking it. If you know what to do any of these can create artistic masterpieces 😅

agreed i have the a7c and i struggle to justify keeping the ~$4k unit (sensor plus lens) the hassle of carrying it around phones now a days are really good and cant really tell the difference if your viewing pics on the phone

Generally, I'm very impressed with the image quality that the iPhone 14 Pro Max produced. The color tone & sharpness are great. This is all in one camera for travelling.

Having used multiple cameras from high end micro four thirds to full-frame, I can confirm that a small compact 1 inch sensor camera like Sony ZV 1 is more than enough better than any phone camera and up there almost matching full-frame imagery! In the end it all boils down to ease of use, convenience, light weight take it any-where gear.

You might want to use a different camera app on the iPhone OR use a Mist & ND Filter to reduce the over sharp image...

Forget vlogging with a mirrorless. Just use your cellphone. Its just good enough, and its already right there on you.

Julia, why did you not talk about ND filtering? A ZV1-II and an iPhone can not compensate, or what would be a solution?

Please do a video comparison using these cameras in darker situations alot of people dont realise that smartphones video performance is only good on well lit day time shooting,but as soon as light quality drops say in a restaurant or an party event indoors thats dimly lit the quality on the smart phone drastically drops and your precious moments are just blobs of gain and noise

ZV-E10 of course will have at least slightly better photos because uses aps-c sensor. But the big difference will be when you will invest in Tamron or Sigma lenses e.g 24-70 mm F2.8 which costs $1200. If you buy Sony ZV-E10 to be worthy, you must invest in a professional lense.

How are the noise and color temp in a indoor setting? I have the FX30 and in an indoor setting with yellow light it is terrible despite it's base iso of 800 and 2500.

Thanks for another great video! I owned the A7iii then upgraded to the A7iv so I skipped the A7c but it seems like a great little travel camera. I use the Z-V1 all the time and just love it for travel all things considered. Of course my iPhone is the easiest to use but my least favorite. I shoot with stabilization off with my Z-V1 so the field of view is ok for my needs. I am waiting to see what Sony does with its rumored APS-C model to see what my next Sony camera will be. Cheers.

In a scale from 1 to 10, how much would you rate as photo device the iphone and the a7C? I'm thinking to buy both, but if they're close, maybe I'll buy only the Iphone.

I use sony a7c for wedding video ...I love it very much...weight auto focus is very good..however little problem of heating on 60fps or 50 for 1 hour shooting.

Good evaluation. The Iphone 14 is a very capable camera, the Iphone 14 compensates for its tiny sensor size by taking multiple photos and uses AI-driven software to enhance the photos and putting all the photos together to arrive at a single photo. Within the Iphone 14's design parameters, the vidoes and photos are quite good. But once outside of the design parameters, for instance in low- or dim light, the Iphone14 can be terrible. But technically wise, the Sony A7C is a FX and the ZV1-II is a 1" sensor, they will yield superior results over the Iphone 14 just because they have a larger sensor size.

On 4:45 the footage of the iPhone 14 PM on the wide camera makes me dizzy, the background is really wobbly

iPhone for the win!!! You can buy a brand new iPhone without a calling plan, and just use it shoot video. That way, there are no distractions popping on the screen.

While each camera has its different quality for picture and sound, literally, after two seconds, you're used to it and it seems to be the best.

9:05 i'm surprised the iphone suddenly changed white balance drastically 😂 Anyway does recording with ProRes on iphone result in much better looking footage?

because its meh camera. its only good in outdoors bright daylight, not indoors or low light. but make sure your camera lens isnt smudged tho.

Compair fuji xs20 vs sony a7c

For vlogging the iPhone wins hands down. The audio sounded the best, superb image stabilization, really usefull wide angle lens, great skin colors, loads of dynamic range and has the most convenient and fast workflow for social media. And also is the most portable camera ever. The only downside I see is low light video.

iPhone quality is meh, skin colour is always tilted towards yellow, does not do well with dark skin colours (pixel wins here), disagree about audio. Other than that I agree, good choice for most of the casual vloggers on the go.

the iphone skin colors look trash. what are you talking about "great skin colors" lol. the zv1 is equally as portable and even weighs less than the iphone.

These are the three cameras I shoot my onlyfans scenes in! I use the iPhone as the handheld because it’s so stable and light but I never use its wide angle because it’s bad in lowlight

I'm a bit biased as I prefer real cameras! The images from the pro max look overly sharp and bright - the real cameras have a better look. But the IBIS of the por max is the best - but of course its all digital!

Thanks. I dont vlog but this is interesting. If I were just vlogging and doing content creation for KZread, it would be my iPhone all day. Wider angles, superior image stabilization, 3 lenses come in it, can edit and upload straight from the device and most importantly, fits in my pocket and I take it everywhere anyways. You can get rid of most that over-sharpening by using a good ND and/or Mist filter and a 3rd party app like Filmic Pro or Pro Camera by Moment. They are far superior to the native camera app and give you full manual controls too. If I were to get a small camera, that ZV 1 is overpriced for a 1 inch sensor camera. $900? No thanks. Id grab a Panasonic LX10 with a better and faster lens, 5 axis stabilization, a real 1/4000s mechanical shutter, better looking video and a higher quality display for half the price.

the lx10 has crappy stabilization. third party apps would not fix the phone quality. just look at the difference in image quality. the zv1v2 is difinetely overpriced, but you can find v1 for around $500. and a zv camera fits into the pocket.

@@truthseeker6804 hmmmm, I’ve never been impressed with Sonys stabilization at all having owned the a7 III, a7 IV and a7 RIIV. I have found Panasonics stabilization to be the best around actually but the LX10 is an entry level camera and not quite as good. I’d still much rather have that then nothing.

The iPhone photos are great .

Why not suggest the cheaper zv1f

Interesting comparison. I'm quite impressed by the iPhones abilities. Even though I have a 11 Pro Max, I'm tempted to use that more for vlogging. Assuming it has similar qualities. And you werent joking about the A7C's cooler look to the images! They were so blue in comparison to the others! 😅

The more I see these comparisons, the more I feel my iphone 14 pro is enough, unless I go to super expensive full frame camera with expensive lenses to do some artistic photos. Challenging times for camera industry. Don't see many people with cameras any more since iphone pro phones started.

I expect micro four thirds in new apple phonr. Jokes aside it would be awesone ngl or at least 1 inch

The kit lens is honestly not that bad in terms of image quality, the problem is that it's not wide enough. It would be good to see a wider kit lens in the future, maybe they will release one with the A7CII this time.

Just get the dji pocket 2, one third of the size of any of these, same results
