Re: a6700 overheating. The results from different channels are all over the map. My copy did quite well comparatively, but if you're considering purchasing this camera, I'd err on the safe side and go with the 40-50 minute results just to be safe. I talked with Jordan from PetaPixel and we tested almost identically and I got nearly an hour longer than him. Not sure how to explain that. 🤷‍♂ I'll test a retail copy when I can and update you. 👍

With non stop stills/photography in climate of at least 79-85F, do you think that would cause the 6700 to overheat? We pre-ordered this camera but now doubting if it's a bad idea with the overheating that could happen if we use this for photography in locations with warmer climate/travel. The other reviews don't even mention the possibility of it overheating

If youre asking mainly about the video dynamic range then theres no question the a6700 is better, considering it has 10bit 4:2:2 compared to a6600 only having 8bit. You can now properly make use of the SLog3 picture profile and get a better dynamic range. When it comes to photos I think they would probably be the same with the a6600 but a6700 would slightly be better because it using a newer and better sensor with 2MP more.

I haven’t bought the Sony 20mm G because my a7 SIII doesn’t have breathing comp. I'm considering to upgrade to a6700 from my a6000 and ZV-E10. So this is really helpful. I have an easy fixing idea for the rattling of the strap holder because I used to have same concern on my a6000. I bought a non-woven sticker at Michale's in a few dollars and applied over the metal base then open small hole by a needle, maybe you can open hole by a pen also. Then put the triangle strap holders back on it then the metal rattling should be completely eliminated. Or, just replace the triangle strap holders to PeakDesign anchors like me lol.

FINALLY! This is exciting to me! I’m a hybrid shooter with focus more on video. Currently own a7s3 which I use professionally and love, but it’s not the most compact or easy for travel vlogging due to weight. Also have a ZV1 which I honestly detest and never use (menu, battery life, no viewfinder, annoyingly not wide enough). Before these two I bought a Fuji XT4 which I adore for photography, but stabilisation and focus just don’t cut it for video especially travel vlogging. So basically I have 2 cameras I love using one amazing for video and one amazing for photography. I didn’t really want to invest in more Fuji glass just for photography and also because I was hoping Sony would bring something out that gave me the higher video frame rates at 4K, a decent sensor, a viewfinder, AND a smaller body. The a6700 is literally what I’ve been waiting for. I’ll probably sell my XT4 & ZV1 and buy the a6700 with the new APSC 10-20mm PZ and also use my existing 35mm glass with the 1.5 crop (16-35 Zeiss, 24-105G). I know the a7c2 is coming, but it will be more expensive, heavier and likely top out at 60fps which for me isn’t enough as I do shoot a lot of B-roll at 100/120. I hadn’t seen much about the mic but in this test it sounded pretty good, so for indoor quiet settings I think it would be enough for me. I have the Sony B1M if I need it. Outside or for my pro work. VERY excited about breathing comp and focus heat maps which I’m still a bit miffed Sony didn’t bring to the a7s3 (whatever over it now lost hope!). Will still use my a7s3 for much of my pro work and studio based stuff. a6700 will be an opportunity to really really enjoy travel again and not take a ton of kit everywhere. I cannot wait! Thanks Gerald - great review as always.

Just put a couple small rubber o-rings around the jangly triangles. They will pinch against the mounts and keep them from jangling. Does make them stick out sideways, but they remain flexible, so not an issue. I do it with all my Sonys.

Some of those have heavy crops and other have only 12mp sensors which are naturally 4k without needing to downsample or or any processing conversion versus a 33mp sensor that needs to do a lot of conversion. If you research the actual cameras, their sensors, the bit rates, the crop factors... Etc it'll be pretty obvious why they are how they are. That's not to say we won't see 4k120 in future full frame cameras but at the moment the only ones that do it are $4-5000. Yes with Sony FF is the way to go. Especially with the A7C and the new small lenses least the Samyang Tiny series, negating any advantage the a6XXX-series had vs fullframe on Sony. For Aps-c Fuji is clearly a better choice with a much wider range of bodies and lenses, with the potential for a very small setup like the X-E4 plus 27 f2.8 or one of the f2 lenses, or a high end setup like the XH2 cameras, with high resolution screens and viewfinders, dual cardslots and great ergonomics. Your videos are truly artistic pieces - thank you so much. They're a real blessing and offer huge educational value. I've been searching extensively, but I can't seem to find any answers on whether it's possible to customize which functions you want to have in the touch function icons menu, similar to the FN menu that appears when you swipe left or right.
