The Alpha 1 is a great camera. More than most people really need to be honest unless they're pro action/wildlife/press shooters. It'll force Canon & Nikon to up their mirrorless flagships big-time, and we all benefit.

@@assoumanim what I mean is, they'll compete at the high end and many of those features trickle down to the more affordable models. So we all get better kit. Look what Sony's lineup forced Canon to finally do with the R5 and R6.

@@Alyssa-kc7vi As of so far, I really like it! I didn’t shoit in low-light yet since the xamera isn’t that good in low-light, but overall it’s pretty good!

Great vid! Years ago i had a similar decision with the Nikon D4 and until today, i never regretted it. I´m also playing around with the Z-System and be curios what comes from Nikon as challenger to the Sony A1.

I love the look & sound of the camera but as you said, the price is my barrier to entry. With where I am in my photography as a business, I need multiple camera bodies. So, if I'm forced to choose between a single a1 body or multiple a7iii's or some variation thereof, I'd have to choose multiple...Hopefully I'll be able to afford an a1 alongside an a7r one day but we'll see. Thanks for your insight on the camera!

Any thoughts on the A1 vs an A9 II (if you have it)? I do mostly wildlife, but I occasionally take photos of football for a local newspaper. Thinking about buying a new camera, and it will be one of the two. 30 FPS and 50 MP is nice, as I could still keep the same work efficiency in sport using compressed RAW, but I'm mostly curious about low light performance and autofocus. How do you feel the A1 stacks up vs the A9 II in terms of that? I don't care about video.

10:53 is the tap to focus only on the A1 or did they update the app so you can now tap to focus on lets say the A7iii as well???

Looking at the update notice on the app I think it’s the A1 only. Don’t see why we can’t have it for other models too, perhaps that will come in time. But I can only get low res images to transfer, have looked at all the settings but 800k seems to be tops a bit frustrating when you have the A7R4 for high res images 😢

What do you think about this Sony FX3 for videos camera?? Have you heard about it?? I'm loosing my mind about this all new gear :)

Well I'm using my A7III in even colder conditions and it works just fine. The A1 would suprise if it won't handle that weather.

Good cameras work well in the cold. Just make sure it's weather sealed. It's the batteries that kill the deal during cold days. I had about 1hr of walk and intermittent shooting with my 7d about a week ago at -20. Just be careful for condensation when transitioning from hot to cold and vice versa. Camera in a big plastic bag is the best.

@@stephangauthier911 I'm keeping this in mind. I always let the camera sit in a bag for a while after I got home, but first I'm removing sdcard and the battery. Btw, batteries are not a problem for me right now. I always carry a spare one around, but one fully charged a night before last to like 45% with 120 photos taken and over 9h of hike in -15 to -25 celcius.

I'm newish to photography I've had a rebel t5 I want to do car / landscape/ maybe some astrology would it be worth going all out on a a1? I was originally thinking maybe a7r3 but keep watching the videos on this beast

The R3 is amazing. I’d say start with the R3 and spend the extra money on lenses or getting to a location for cool photos! I have the R3 and after years I’m still pushing it and haven’t hit its limits.

Love the Sony A1 - one issue I ran into was recording 4k in Texas heat.. about 90+ degrees fahrenheit . The camera kept overheating after like one and on 30 seconds recording bursts.

Try adjusting your temperature shutoff, if you leave it on standard it’ll shut off way way sooner.

Arf.. still DSLR guy... I need that little vibration done by the mirror when it shuts. Mirrorless are great machines, but too sleek, too perfect IMO. If I needed to invest, it would be in a D850. As I don’t shot videos I don’t need all that stuff 8/4K, 120fps etc...
