Sonos Move Review - 6 Months Later
Ғылым және технология
The Sonos Move is an impressive speaker with great sound, but even more surprising, it comes with Bluetooth, a rarity for Sonos speakers and has a built in battery, allowing you to move the speaker wherever you want. But at $399, is the speaker actually worth it? We'll take a look at how it compares to some of Sonos other speakers like the Sonos Roam and Sonos One and go through who exactly the Sonos Move is for.
We'll also take you through other features like built-in smart Assistants like Alexa and Sonos's own Sonos Voice Control, Auto Trueplay and EQ. What music services are supported through Sonos Voice Control and Alexa, How good Alexa is on the speaker, how long the battery has lasted us, how to control and group speakers and more.

I started my Sonos setup with a Move and today it is still my favorite part of the setup. In addition, it’s always been the crispiest, loudest, and prettiest of the available portable speakers at that price range. Of course most of these things are subjective, but for me it wins because it does not demand attention and always gives an excellent listening experience.
I rarely comment but just had to say this is a phenomenal review. One of the best I’ve ever seen. This video deserves more likes.
Great review. Definitely think this is our next addition to Sonos collection. Thank you
Wow Mr Esposito is the voice of Sonos?!
I have several Sonos Ones, and love them. I appreciate the Roam, but for me, it’s very easy to move one of the Ones outdoors for a get together. I’d like a Move some day, and recognize the audio quality should be better, but two Ones in stereo for the same price is hard to beat, just a different product compared to the One. Thanks for the review! Always love your content.

You’re welcome and that’s a great point! Two Sonos Ones sounds great together stereo paired.
I have my semi-audiophile set up in my living room for purity of sound but it’s extremely directional. While you can hear it in other rooms, the sound is significantly degraded. I was skeptical of the Sonos move since I’ve never bought a powered smart speaker. However, this speaker is simply excellent. The clarity and sonic balance is great and the clear deep low end is quite a surprise. The only real negative I can offer is that the sound is undeniably mono. A pair of these would be outstanding, but unless you find a rare great deal or open box special, $800 for a pair is pretty difficult to justify. This speaker definitely exceeded my expectations. If you can find one under retail, I wouldn’t hesitate and even at full retail I could justify the purchase. Color me pleasantly surprised!
Another great video. Good scripting and quality information.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
anyone else running into issues with the move where airplay doesn’t want to work and will not connect . Also speaker showing powered off but microphone is still on? Looked on forums and could not find anything that explains these bugs
Can I set up sonos move as tv speaker? Other option is homepod as tv speaker can that audio be shared to sonos move?
Nice updated review!👍😀🙌 I've had a Sonos One Gen2 for a while, but I simply stopped using it due to Sonos's horrid app. For such a diminutive speaker, it sure does pack an incredible punch. I was so looking forward to the Move, but the excessive high price simply put me off! They should have just made a portable Sonos One and sold it for £200. I eventually settled for the Libratone Zipp2's....got them at a superb price and paired them for stereo. The Libratone has all I need, plus lots more! Great portable speaker! 😍😍👍😀😀🥳 Saying that, the Move still intrigues me greatly! I just want to know if I can use it solely as a Bluetooth speaker without using the app or connecting to wifi? If someone could kindly enlighten me, then that would be so helpful 👍👍👍😀 By the way, please, please review the Mitchell Acoustic Ustream Go portable Bluetooth speakers. These have also peaked my interest....🤔👍😀👌
2:25 no battery indication when it turns on? thats weird
how does this compare to the echo studio
2:38 lmao is that Gus fring's voice as the Sonos assistant
Any negatives to leaving the Sonos Move "On" while on the charging base so you can play at anytime while in the house?

I was wondering this too. I don’t want to ruin the battery by leaving it on and on the charger all day

Yes, you can just play music to it through music apps or the Sonos app

You have to make sure they’re stereo paired together in the Sonos app first. Then it should work.
The replaceable battery has sold me, wow!
Giancarlo Esposito does the voiceover???

I love the move have two set up as a stereo pair…. But Sonos have really let them selves down by not including the software in the new mini sub to pair with the move , absolutely ridiculous 😡
@videostar348
Жыл бұрын
They did this for a reason if you think about it ;) If that would have been possible it would not unpair from the sub when you carry it arround and the move whould have no bass and the sub in the other room would do all thw bass while the move is somewhere else.

Can you only stereo pair in wifi mode? Wont work using Bluetooth or with my tv :(
So a pair of these in stereo would sound great but also expensive?

Exactly
The Move is as immense as the Roam is flawed… my Move sounds amazing and has been 100% trouble free… My roam sounds good but has been bricked and resurrected several times… it’s bricked again and I’m not motivated to jump through the hoops to resurrect it again.
2:38 wait is that Gus Fring from los pollos Hermanos 😂
I just got one on sale for $299 which is what it’s worth. Paying $399 for it is just silly.
My 2 biggest gripes that will probably cause me to return it. 1 you can’t group it with non Sonos speakers. 2. When I try and change the volume from my phone with the side buttons, it’s only registering 1 out of every 5 clicks or so. Sound is great though.

@@oskar4276 I found the base actually lacking at lower volume which is how I traditionally listen. The base didn't start kicking in equally with the bose portable until about 70% volume.
Do these sound better than the HomePod?

I have 3 in my house within 30 feet of each other and a roam in the bathroom and the sound is awesome!!
Replaceable batter is a Plus
Wonder how many times he couldn’t get it to turn on.
It is stupid that you can't use Move for rear surround
Sonos sounded like NIlay Patel
My issue is, that when the battery is depleted, why make it not work on the charger alone. Its built to stop working. That makes me feel like its an apple company that wants us to spend money for their products. This is making rethink my choice to invest in this company's speakers. I'm deep in it now. But upset that my battery is having this issue.
You may want to mute the "hey sonos" part of your videos, my speakers are now grouped...

UPGRADE ON THE WAY....Sonos Move2 coming later this month, Sept 2023...$50 USD more than current model, but one upgrade is stereo vs mono.
Also, it's durable af I dropped it off a car onto concrete, nothing, not a scratch
If I was playing a drinking game every time you say “move”, I’d need a rehab by the end of it.😂😅
just scored a big one for nothing, it’s perfect for the yacht.. sounds shit hot..
I had hope to see some objective review not adv :(

I'm using the charger that comes with the Move.
Nice speaker but has one big flaw , it’s not able to play flac files above 24 bit ,48 hz So from my point of view pretty useless to me. So have to look at other high-quality portable speakers that can do this.
All Sonos speakers are rubbish, over rated sound and the software is appalling.....

@@dominica2392 I've got sonos throughout my house ..3 soundbars w/subs, 9 stand alone speakers, 3 outdoor speakers. They are all shit and don't stay connected for longer than a month at a time. I stopped using the 2 speakers at my second residence because I'm tired of having to delete the app and start over every time I go there. Garbage.

@@scoobie69d Apple, Amazon, Google and Bose offer speakers that can work together wirelessly as a multi-room system, as do less mainstream brands like Audio Pro and Bluesound. The amount of time I've spent just trying to get my sonos speakers to work is embarrassing. I started w/a single stand alone sonos speaker years ago and now have over a dozen. They worked great for about 2 years. Now they are just expensive paper weights.
DONT BUY- The speakers sound good but will stop working since the app is terrible. I ended trashing over $1k in speakers and customer support finally contacted me a year later.
