Sonoff Zigbee Mini Extreme: smaller than ever, all with single live wire
Ғылым және технология
We have seen the mini extreme just a few weeks ago, and now there is another one, this time in Zigbee and with no neutral wire, or single live wire setup. It is a great little device, does all what you expect in a small form factor. Having power-on-state is also a great feature. The no neutral wiring works without a capacitor. So no additional part is needed to install it. Please note that this only has a 6A relay, as opposed to 10A which is usual in all the other smart switches from Sonoff.

Mini Extreme is amazing, using one right now. Stable and has good signal strength. Looking forward to 2 channels switch.
thanks, I love it so much when you share cross platform pairing like Tuya. we all know Tuya has much wider variety of devices
I am waiting for SOnOff / Itead to bring out a dimmer version of this. So far AEOTEC seems to be the only one with a no neutral dimmer, but these seem to be ZWave.

I have such a bad experience with dimmers, that I am not really interested. Does it work OK for you (in general)?
There is an issue when connecting the switch to S1 + S2 ports. If you turn on the light with the switch but then turn it off via HA, then the switch toggle change directions. Meaning down=ON and up=OFF. I haven't found a way to fix that, and no mention about it in demo videos. That can be confusing for low-tech home users 🙂

yes, that is always an issue. I flagged this multiple times, maybe not with this particular device. Unfortunately there is no solution for this. Changing to a momentary swich with always returns to the default position will be better visually, but that would be all.
This is a great video Thank you. Do you have more information how to do this in a 2 way switch ??? It is not clear to me in the information that Sonoff share at their site. Let me me know if you have some input, maybe a little drawing it will help me and many others. Thanks again

Check on Sonoff's website, they have 2 different diagram for 2-way switch wiring: sonoff.tech/product-review/product-insight/zbmini-extreme-zigbee-smart-switch-no-neutral-required/
Is it possible to make it work with 2 double pole switches and two lights with a single??
Hi! Thank you for the review of the new device! I have question, how does it works connected to the son off zigbee hub if internet connection is lost?
@csongorvarga
Жыл бұрын
I did not test it. The local switch always works, but if you have a scene for example to turn on the light when motion is detected, it will not work.
Can you connect this directly into the app or do you need to pair with a gateway/bridge and then this connects to the app? I have a normal Wi-Fi sonoff switch and it connected directly to app??
@csongorvarga

Yes, the wifi switches communicate directly on the internet over wifi, but zigbee needs a bridge/gateway. Unless you have like an Alexa smart speaker at home which has a zigbee bridge built in. But in that case you would control that in the Alexa app.
Hi, if there is a neutral wire how is the correct configuration for the ZBMINI Extreme?

If you have a netural wire, use a model which has the neutral input. Like a regular zigbee mini.
SONOFF ZBMINIL2 Questions.. Is it a good fit and will it work in these scenarios? Here is what I'm wanting to accomplish and hoping someone can tell me if this device will do that.. **Scenario 1:** Have a switch box that has a neutral wire. It turns my ceiling fan / light combo off/on.. I have a Smart Life universal wifi fan/light combo installed that I have in HA to control fan and lights. However, switch has to be on to do so.. I want to be able to control the fan/light via HA/Alexa regardless if the switch is in off/on position. **Scenario 2:** I have 3 switch boxes, all 3 way, that control our hallway lights. None have a neutral. Will this device provide HA on/off ability? If so, do I need to install 3 (one in each box)? **Scenario 3:** I have a switch box with no neutral. Just want HA to have ability to turn lights off/on. Also, for any of the scenarios that do work (if any), does the standard on/off toggle light switch work with them? Thanks!

Hi, let me respond to your questions: Scenario 1: if you already have a fan/light switch, why would you need a second switch in series? Scenario 2: in 3 way switching there is one wire going into the 1st switch, and 2 wires goes to the 2nd switch, another 2 wires from the 2dn to 3rd and at the end one wire goes off to the lamp. If you can identify the wires going off to the 1st and 3rd switch use those in the S1, S2 terminals. Most probably you can do this at the lamp, not where your switches are. Scenario 3: yes and yes, it works with the standard on/off toggle switches.

@@csongorvargaThank you for the reply! For Sencario 1.. I have a dumb switch.. I have a device in the fan that allows smart control over the light and fan.. However, if the switch is off, that device is useless.. I want to be able to turn on the switch (if it's off) via HA/Alexa so I can then turn on the fan/light via HA/Alexa. Hope that makes sense..

@@kmccb23 Yes it does. Would not make it sense to just leave that switched turn on all the time? What is the point of adding a smart switch there?

Yes, there is a wiring diagram in the manual how to use it with a 2 way switch.
How power on state is set up ?

I am not sure what you mean. You can set it in the Settings the way you want it.

@@csongorvarga I would Like to use it with Philips Hue Hub. Do I need another application to set up power on state ?
@csongorvarga
Жыл бұрын
@@theattorney6072 I did not test it with the Philips Hue Hub, but it worked with other hubs, so it should work with Philips as well. Just power it up and long press the button to get into pairing mode and you should add it to the hub just like a Philips Hue lamp. Let me know how it goes.

I think we are not talking about the same thing. A am talking about the set up in case of power outage. Normaly with hue lights, there is an option to set up for each hue light to keep the lights off when the electricity is back After power outage. To avoid for exemple having all the lights at home on while you are sleeping (imagine the stress) or on vacation.

@@theattorney6072 I showed it in my video how to set up the power on state when you are using it with either the eWeLink app. If you want to use it with Philips, I assume there is a similar setting in the Philips Hue app. If there is none, you can try setting it up in the eWeLink (but for that you need a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge/Gatewat as well), set the power-on-state and re-register the device with Philips. I can't tell if the device will remember this setting after re-pairing or not. Also I did not test it, but the default option could be off if you are lucky.
You lost me when you mentioned about not testing zigbee2mqtt.

It does work within the latest Z2MQTT version - already added as a device, there's another video on here that confirms it 👍🏻
Doesn't use a live wire🤣
