I genuinely believe that the cutscene animations and lighting engine still haven't been topped in another Sonic game to this day, especially now that the Xbox Series version can run the game without the frame drops that the original Hedgehog engine demanded from consoles of its day.

The fact that the level designers make 5-10 minute stage layouts for a sonic thats going at warp speed at the push of a button is mad respect. Rooftop Run Day, best stage ever

It's an alright experience (as long as it's not the crappy Wii version). While half of the night stages, plane stages, Chip (please don't hurt me), and... ugh... Eggmanland are the major cons of this game, I do find this game to be fun and enjoyable in the other areas.

I love how the Button Eggman presses, has Little Lights for every Emerald. Like he Made the entire fleet of Spaceships, but still manages to have money to buy the little LEDs to place under the button case

This soundtrack is so nostalgic for me cuz sonic unleashed was one of my first games ever and honestly it needs a remake

I never actually played sonic unleashed but I did watch all the cutscenes on youtube as a kid so it still holds some nostalgia for me! and yes, i agree it needs a remake, or at least a port please I wanna actually play the game 😭

@@Xelia1337well you could use either a PS3, PS2, WiiU, Xbox 360 (and later generations), or an emulator to play it. Pretty fun, but the camera is straight ass and the werehog platforming is really bad because he has no drop shadow sometimes

15 years later, this game has gone through quite a transformation in terms of reception and popularity. First being one of the most derided, despised titles in Sonic history at the time of its release (as well as Black Knight, a Sonic game I absolutely love, fight me!), to becoming more of a unique hidden gem from the Dark Age of the franchise. Even to this day, this game, I feel, will forever remain a divisive title in Sonic's legacy. Both figuratively AND literally.

The idea of the werehog is fun to me, but I feel they pushed it a little too far. Shorter stages or even having the werehog be able to run faster would have definitely helped.

A simple way to say is that the werehog stages are simply furry god of war. Plus, at least the levels aren’t as bad as what the Wii version is like. For example, one mission is to make it to the goal without breaking a single thing AND you also have a time limit too.

@@diarmikelly4060 trust me, the day time sonic stages on the Wii were so bad that I was literally stuck on one of them for a couple weeks for how stressful it was. I couldn’t even complete the first Eggman Land stage.

Unleashed should be remade with best of both versions coming together to make a perfect sonic unleashed experience

night stages were better on the wii as a kid, where you’d sweat from the exertion of throwing fifty fake punches with your tiny fists

@@ViltrumiteIsRite99 I like the pace of the game goes in terms of getting to stages, amount of collectables, and the stages are still unleashed goodness even if different. Compare to the amount of backtracking you need in console to unlock a stage to progress isnt fun by comparison

@@bluevain2255 I haven’t played Unwished since the first couple years it dropped. Even when expecting the medal quota.. “HUH?? I’m still missing 8 medals?!” Another detractor: Sonic is too heavy, and carries way more momentum than he can stop. If you’re trying to do 3D platforming, you’re fighting the controls more than the level design. Felt this the most on Skyscraper Scamper.

@@ViltrumiteIsRite99 agree, I tried to play console version of unleashed, it was ps3 so that may make the experience worse but between the medal collection and eggmanland and sonics controls I found my experience frustrating, though skyscraper city day stage is sick

30:00 speaking about Zelda Game. Sonic Unleashed and Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess have a similarity. Link and Sonic are wolf, have a little companion that'll be the most important character through the story(the endings are sad though), and the one who've said that.

as a kid i actually preferred the nighttime levels to the daytime ones… call me crazy but i had so much fun doing the platforming and learning combo routes

You getting excited about the final boss got me more excited than i usually get, and i get tingly

One of my favorite Sonic games ever. Prior to the rest, Sonic (Day) felt his most alive while running, jumping, grinding, sliding, homing attacking, and boosting in this game. Yes, I am one of those people that didn't care for the Night Stages (though I don't hate them), but, man, did they nail the Day Stages. Don't even get me started on the soundtrack.

I know that it's been like 7 months since this video came but as a German just wanted to say that Bienenstich is like one of my favorite cakes ever and you almost pronounced it perfectly so if anyone is wondering how to pronounce it 100%: Bie like the Bee nen just like Choc said stich like shtish The cake is ususally made with sweet but yeasty dough, filled with vanilla whipped cream or just whipped cream, and topped with a mixture containing almonds, honey, cream, butter and sugar so the top is caramalized and crunchy. The dough is often swapped out for a softer and sweeter sponge cake and the filling for vanilla pudding or a mixture of pudding and whipped cream. I hope the explanantion makes sense!

I just wanna say this is my FAVORITE sonic game

That 38 minutes on eggmanland is impressive, in my first attempt i took so long that the level timer stopped at 99 minutes & 59 seconds Also the ranks depend on the level. Like, you got a B on eggmanland because 38 minutes and that many deaths and stuff is good for eggmanland specifically. But in windmill isle, that'd get you and E, for example.

You know what sucks about UnWiished: No Empire City areas, like literally an entire continent is cut from Unleashed on the Wii, however Unleashed on Wii is shockingly better since dying as Werehog Sonic has no loading screen, you just get revived where your body lies as it's dead.

Ya know, I find it funny that the majority of us who played this game on 360 and had to deal with way more shenanigans than what he went through, but we pulled it off a lot better than him.

The final boss music (super sonic vs perfect dark gaia) is a FUCKING BANGER

This game is how I was introduce to Sega and how Sonic was introduce to me when it was release in the WiiVC.

I forgot to say when this vid first came out but, Sonic Unleashed was my first Sonic game, i got this game after watching Sonic X every Saturday Morning it aired on the now discontinued Vortex channel section, and when i got the game and was in aww of that 20/10 opening, it felt like a Sonic X movie to me with how it had a higher budget and had the same voice cast that i still love to this day. This game will forever be in my top 3 next to Adventure 2 and 3&Knuckles.

This was s tier content do more of these type of intros

“Yup so that happened” I give up, i ain’t even going to stick around for his evil alter ego to come in and stop the review for a 5 minute bit.

From now on any sonic game you play in the future will be caninazed as you being the inner thoughts of sonic because of this intro to sonic unleashed.
