ℹ️ About the game 👇
Sonic the Hedgehog is a retro (classic) platform video game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for Sega Genesis (Sega Mega Drive) console in 1991. The concept of a high-speed platformer was unique at that time and it solidified the style of the gameplay the Sonic game series is known for. The only playable character in this old game is Sonic. The main goal is to get through a set of zones each of which consists of three acts, except the final zone that contains only a single act. In order to complete the first two acts of a zone, the player has to pass a silver plate located at the end of the level. To complete the final act of each zone, the player has to open a capsule with animals at the end of the stage that becomes available after a boss fight with Doctor Ivo Robotnik, aka Dr. Eggman. The exception is Scrap Brain Zone and Final Zone that do not have such capsules. Sonic's most basic ability is running. He also has a rolling manoeuvre called Spin Attack and a spinning jump called Spin Jump both of which let him destroy breakable objects and enemies. There are many golden rings scattered around the zones that Sonic can pick up. They can grant points and help the player survive damage that is normally incurred when Sonic touches a hazard. If that happens, all the collected rings are dropped, however some of them can be quickly picked up again before they disappear. Bumping against a hazard without having any rings will cost the player one life. Sonic will also die regardless of the rings he holds if he drowns (drowning can be avoided by regularly gasping air), falls into a bottomless pit, or spends more than ten minutes trying to clear a single stage (creeping player death). If Sonic picks up a shield, he receives protection that allows to run into a hazard without taking damage. If the character picks up an invincible power-up, he can run through some obstacles and enemies without a single hit until the power-up wears off. If the player has at least fifty rings at the end of the first or second act of a zone, they can enter a bonus level (special zone) through a giant ring that will appear near to the silver plate. Once the player has cleared six bonus zones, the giant rings will no longer appear regardless of the number of the collected rings. Besides the game's main goal, the player can collect six Chaos Emeralds. Each bonus level contains one of them. Collecting all Chaos Emeralds and winning the final battle vs Dr. Robotnik (Doctor Eggman) will unlock the game's good ending. Gotta go fast!
