Facts

In my opinion, especially when linked with sonic and knuckles, the greatest sonic saga of them all. You had to be there to truly know that feeling. The music, redesigned sprites, sonic the comic playing out the storyline, the 90’sness....

It's good especially when you plug sonic 3 because I feel like I am then playing the entire game. Look how long sonic 2 is. Yes I've beaten all sonic games. My favorite is sonic 3+sonic and knuckles just because of that feature.

This game blew me away with its graphics and music when it came out in 1994, and it still looks absolutely beautiful today. My favorite stage was always the Ice Cap Zone, closely followed by Lava Reef.

old days.. i tried to get the bubble with Sonic, then spam the jump button over and over until that thing goes down and then try to "glitch" into the wall.. yess, it was possible in this way, but playing knuckles is easier because he can take an another path ; then nowdays, i learned that i can use up and down arrow to move as it should...

I read somewhere that they were originally going to put in the instruction manual how to press up/down to get those barrels to move but that text was left out. Couldn't figure it out for the life of me until I read it in a game magazine how to do it lol

that's not wholly true. he did help compose the music for ice cap, carnival night, and launch base zone, but angel island, hydroxcity, and (most likely) marble garden were all composed by sega staff. he also helped compose the mini boss music from sonic 3, and the credits

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a 1994 platform game developed and published by Sega for the Genesis. That's how Sonic & Knuckles game is the second half of sonic 3. And when you play it like that it's a longer version of sonic 3. Too bad they couldn't add those levels like they did with sonic 2. Sonic 2 you'll spend more hours than sonic 1. When you play it like sonic 3 & knuckles it's the complete version. Plus you unlock hyper sonic.

I always found it funny how tails was no help in the special stages at all in sonic 3. at least in sonic 2 he could help you get rings that you missed in the special stages.

That’s true! The second half of the actual game is Sonic & Knuckles. But fortunately, Sega used lock on technology for the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge, then we were able to combine the two halves together to make it the ultimate full classic Sonic adventure game and that is of course Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles

This is the best 2D Sonic game, and one of my favorite games of all time.

For some reason my best Sonic game ever.

Fun Fact: the extra life sound effect in Sonic 3 Alone is basically just the original version of Sonic Mania Extra Life Sound Effect but in Sonic 3 and Knuckles, the life sound effect is completely different.
