Underrated game. The Air mechanic is a great risk vs. reward mechanic in the vein of F-Zero's boosting.

Honestly, I've almost never had troubles with air management, except when I used gears (like Fastest) that can't refuel by doing tricks.

The mechanic is so great they used it in sonic world adventure ( sonic unleashed ) and sonic generations . Admittedly , the mechanic wasn’t as great as how it was in this game , but it still was great to play

Pachinko level in Super Mario Sunshine. Fuck that level! It also took the life of my first controller in addition to the padding, but the padding was first so still counts.

Franz Ferdinand Timing is important as it will dictate where you land but yeah all you gotta do is just charge your jump an angle it to go either higher or farther. It's all in the game's video tutorial.

I remember playing this on my PS2 for the first time and loving it. And now...nothing has changed

I can't believe someone actually speedrun this game. This and Zero Gravity are my favorite Sonic racing games

i wish the series didn't become a mess after the first game. Zero gravity isn't that bad but it just takes all the speed out of a game about Racing.

I like Sonic Riders better in general than Zero Gravity, but the Gravity Dive was super fun, and ZG's Super Sonic is too once you activate the magnetic barrier gear change. Free Riders probably could've been fun too, but the Kinect being required killed that possibility.

@@jruler93 gravity dive was fun, but it's absolutely no replacement for the boost. It basically combined the single coolest aspect (Boosting) and the single worst aspect (Autoscroll sections) on the original SR into one move, and drags the quality down.

It is something when you think you're pro at this game and yet, seeing how they play while speedrunning makes think that they're so good.

I sometimes boot up my old GC and play this game with friends once in a while. Its a timeless classic, like smash!

He did pretty well considering he wasn't even planning on speed running the hero story.

I remember getting this on my GameCube when I was like 6 and loved it since then.

So much nostalgia playing this game with my God brother, good times

This game was such an amazing part of my childhood that it inspired me to learn how to skateboard.

The game recieved mixed reviews. But early critic reviews are irrelevent.

ah, memories. this game has such badass music as well. nostalgic vibes all over.

Why won't Sega make another Sonic riders.... I know Sonic free riders was kind of a bust but I doubt one swing and a miss but one game shouldn't put out a great franchise. Sonic team racing was nice but I really miss how unique sonic riders was. You'll never find a board racing game like this.

@@soundrogue4472 Understandable to be honest. They made some crucial mistakes in the 90’s and early 00's by mismanagement. Can understand that they're a bit passive now.

TheLivingGlitch Co-founding as in he was one of Warframe's players who paid for the game way before all of it's features were added and all the bugs were fixed. He basically helped fund the studio behind WarFrame to improve the game by paying for it when it just came out.

Yeah, the game does a really bad job at explaining the mechanics to the player. I think that was the main reason for the game receiving bad reviews when it released.

Yeah, G in the story mode does pretty much whatever they want. I've seen 'em grind, fly and smash.

I dont remember any of the menu screens from this game, but I definitely remember the sound effects 😂

It does not let you reach to the second floor in Babylon Garden when you do the auto parts perfectly even when you hold left and right. Is there an option to jump there?

One of My favorite games

I'd like to argue that the high booster board is better for speed runs. While it only allows you to boost once before you have to feed it more air, you can strategize when to boost per level and maximize your speed. The high booster is much faster than the standard board.

It is better for let's say an all course time attack run. But since it's story mode, you're pretty much locked to what the game gives you

Emulator i used pcsx2 and then open the emulator i plugged in a ps4 remote and once it connects go into controller and map the controls allowing you to play how you want

Huh... Why does the runner tap left and right buttons? I remember as a child I discovered that during tapping part you can just hold both buttons, get massive speed boost and tons of air. I thought that's why he's playing PC version Edit: Yes, I WASN'T misremembering things! This centipede. If you hold both directions simultaneously, you actually can outspeed it!

The original copy of the game had a DRM that Windows now IDs as malware. Try the Sonic PC Collection version of the game

It probably depends on the level, because some of them have some really interesting Fly exploits, but otherwise, yes. Being able to knock shit out of your way whenever you need to is very useful.

Power types feel pretty underpowered IHMO, mostly because they just get a little bit of air restoration for each thing you hit, but flying and grinding often let you restore large chunks of your air meter.

iHCSx in super Metroid you can save a group of animals at the end of the game but it waste time

I just pulled my copy out like an hour ago and thought about people speed running this game, turns out I was a speed runner since the age of ten compared to this runner. I used to get even quicker times and never really knew. :P

Racing games in general have this problem - the fun is in discovering the perfect route (and Riders has a *lot* of possible routes), but once you've planned everything out it's just going through the motions as quick as you can. And on single player there's nobody who can keep up with you, either.

What? He only did Heros? that's not even the full storyline wtf lol. Failed Speedrun.

there's different speedrun category. this is only heroes, there's only villains, and then both.

there are % speedrun categories in this game it would classify as hero% as you only do the hero campaign. if he wanted to complete the game fully it would be any% and a 100% for a full and complete playthrough of everything the game has to offer for a completionist.

This game was god aweful Zero Gravity was way better

Why didn't Celestics get the 100 ring thing on the second stage?
