Sliathedarkfox11 Sadly, Chikao Otsuka is no longer with us, but Eggman's new voice actor sounds very similar so it's still good. Kouji Yusa for Shadow still voices him too. I think this was the game where Tails got his Sonic X actor in the games though: he appeared to have a different one in the adventure games.

mahoushoujo maisoon that’s really disrespectful to junichi and Roger Craig Smith, even though i enjoy Ben, it’s really scummy to replace someone because they are not famous enough.

Most of the lines that Junichi Kanemaru says in Engrish have also been kept in the English version and that's a nice touch! :D

That Guy...Brian Nah. I always thought Ryan sounded like Jun'ichi's English equivalent. Jason was too mellow sounding and spoke a bit too slow. I also think Ryan's pitch matched Jun'ichi's much more than Jason's. And I think Roger is pretty good. These crappy scripts he's got since 2010 haven't done his voice acting skill any justice.

fun fact, tails shares a Japanese voice seiyuu with Kyou Fujibayashi from Clannad

I don't know why but the Japanese voice dialogue sounds better than the USA dialogue especially the Japanese voice actor/actress of Tails because he sounds less cringey in this version 🇯🇵VS🇺🇸

Junichi Kanemaru is (or was) also an English teacher, too. So it's not just because English is considered cool in Japan, but because the man actually knows the language well. Pronunciation is a whole other thing, though. Japanese accent will always be there making it sound rather weird/off :p

It's been a long time since I played this in English but I'm loving how the game sounds in Japanese too, even some of the lines are the same and some are just plain funny, seriously gotta play this again, and while I'm at it I need to play the Adventure games since I've never played them =w=

So the S O N I C H E R O S that is still stuck in my head to this day in Japanese was also sung in English. This is why I love the internet so I can look up insane stuff at 5am.

They need to make more games like sonic heroes

Sonic sounds like Sasuke Uchiha, Tails sounds like Tony D. Chopper, and Knuckles sounds kind of like Roronoa Zoro

Tails VA shares the same role as Kyou Fujibayashi from Clannad!! It blew me away when i first discovered that fact!

I still don't understand why Metal copied Sonic's data. He's designed to be just like Sonic and he's programmed to know all his moves. So why would Metal need his data if he's had Sonic's ability's since the beginning?

Metal Sonic was pre-programmed based on Sonic at the time of Sonic CD. Sonic's grown since then, so the copying was necessary to bring Metal's power back up to snuff. He also copied Tails and Knuckles as well.

I remember in Team Sonic's story he said "All life form data, successfully copied." meaning Team Sonic was the last ones he copy, in Team Dark he said "Ultimate life form data, successfully copied." meaning he copy Team Dark but mostly Shadow since he is the ultimate life form, and in Team Rose's story at the end after beating egg emperor he said "Chaos data, successfully copied." meaning after absorbing Sonic's and co. data he copy some of Chaos' data from when Froggy swallow a part of them back in Sonic Adventure. Metal's goal in this game was to takeover the world and built a world only for Robots similar to SatAM Robotnik and an order for Metal to achieve his goal he had to copy the data of the strongest warriors on earth (at the time in 2003 and yes including Cream, Big, and Charmy who are the weakest character in Sonic Heroes.) but I think it was mostly to defeat Sonic to prove he is the real Sonic kinda like what happen in the Sonic OVA except he wasn't being control by Robotnik anymore.

Yeah, they actually explain some stuff. In the English version, in the energy bank they say "oh no, we can't touch the lava" or some shit. I played this game when i was 4-5. I didn't know English so my dad translated. WHY DO THEY HAVE LAVA IN A BUILDING,THAT ALWAYS BOTHERED ME. NOW I NOW IT WAS AN ENERGY STORING FACILITY

Yeah but it's the Japanese Gamecube since the Japanese dub isn't available if you play both US & European PAL versions. Only the PS2 and XBOX versions can have the choice to switch audio.

As I understand it, I think SEGA made a collaboration with the U.S.A. to make the music of the Game, and also with the development of the game such as the voices in English, the translation, and that in Sonic Adventure 2 they had an agreement with the Soap company to advertise Soap shoes

Sonic as a series was made with a western audience in mind, so it's no surprise that the games would incorporate as many western elements as possible, such as English language music. SEGA probably thought that Japanese audiences wouldn't mind and would even think of it as part of the games' charm. It's also why Sonic's Japanese VA uses a lot of Engrish.

you guys know tha metal sonic can be sonic roboticized right ? Because Dr eggman never builded a second one but why ? The anser is tha sonic can be metal sonic roboticized and if you pay attentio durin the overlord boss fight metal sonic says "accept me as I am" and he uses chaos powers like chaos control. Back in sonic adventure Tikal says "The servents are the chaos emeralds, chaos is power enriched by the heart" so if metal sonic can use chaos control he has a heart and as so he can't be a robot right? Annother thing tha you can see is the final boss fight name I mean Metal "Madness" this is just part of a theory that metal sonic is a sonic from annother dimention but if someone is interested than google it. PS sorry if my english was wrong :)

THIS Reasons why Sonic should stay Japanese-Engrish and not English. He sounds like what he's supposed to!

Music Overload Because we've gone all these years with having Sonic voiced by Western actors, too. So, for them to all of a sudden just fire Roger Craig Smith, and tell everyone that Sonic won't have an English voice actor anymore. People would be shocked & outraged. Besides, one of the main reasons as to why Sonic speaks so much Engrish in the first place is because Sonic is more popular in the West then in Japan.
