I heavily agree on the former. I mean, most of the cast names are just normal words. They don't really need to be changed into something else. Like, some examples on the top of my head include Sonica, Tailsko, Shadie, and Silvia. Like, why does Tailsko even exist? Tails isn't even his name, it's his nickname. Name the genderswap something like Millie Prower or something and keep the nickname the same, idk.

Rouge as a male looks really cool. Dark and slim but the pink gives it a unique contrast plus their personality is also very fitting.

Yeah, since blue was viewed as being innocent and submissive while pink was a lighter color of red, red being loyalty and power. Usually younger boys would wear pink though, because they weren't powerful enough for red

I feel like a lot of these work really well. I mean, people already confuse Tails for a girl, Silver is essentially still the same person (he was never as... manly, for lack of better word, as the other male characters), and Shadow is now just essentially Ryuko now. The only ones I thought were a LITTLE jarring were Cream, Rouge and Blaze. Aresworld is such a great artist and really creative too!

I love these versions ! They fit their original quirks and individualities incredibly well. I especially LOVE Shadow genderbent. So far as Knuckles being genderbent, part of me wants to try cosplaying as a genderbent Knuckles.

Does anyone else notice a certain....trend when it comes with Sonic character designs, by which I mean.... The girls are wearing clothes. And the guys *aren't* (not counting the gloves and shoes) Like the girls are all covered up, while the guys are all basically streaking. The only exception I can think of is Charmy Bee, but he only has a vest and no pants.

That's just, like, average Sonic character design, pretty much since the beginning of the series just about. Like, that's very much, 'the thing', or 'the rule' for design, boys get shoes and gloves and girls get full outfits. A large chunk of the Sonic community realizes this, which is why I (at least) see a lot of jokes about this point. Like, idk why the creators of Sonic really decided to go this route, or at least never really changed it over time, but I think it's, kinda funny in a way actually. What I think happened, is they made Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, all 'naked', and they were all boys. Then when they introduced girls they probably thought it'd be more weird to have them be naked as well because, boobies. Like, can't have that exposed. Mostly the girls just have to have a top, but it's usually both a top and bottom of sort. Even in the original Archie comics, Princess Sally Acorn (a girl) wore boots and a vest. So she always had some kind of top piece, a very minimal one at that, probably just so her chest area wasn't completely exposed. It is interesting though isn't it? There's nothing wrong with putting the guy characters in clothes, but the girls tend to stay in them. I can't think of a single girl that doesn't. But yeah, it's been goin' on for a while lol. Good 'ol Sonic character design. :) And if I sound rude, I am not trying to at ALL during this! Purely just trying to excitedly talk about Sonic designs. So if I sound very "um, well aCThuALLy . . . " I'm not trying to and I'm sorry 😅 I know written comments always sound jerkier than they can be, so I'm sorry if it comes across that way!!!

somehow the change of sex really benefits those turning into girls and hinders the ones turning into guys... like... could you imagine if from the beginning amy (the stalker) was a guy and sonic (the stlakee) was a girl? definitely wouldn't be seen as funny and cute as it was. While blaze's silent attitude made her intriguing and mysterious as a girl... it... just makes her look like and edgelord as a guy... rouge? definitely the one hindered the worst cause now he could be seen as an arrogant pretentious guy that harrasses another hedgehog girl a different way from amy... i'm not hating on the drawings or the concepts of the characters. i still very much like them... but the appeal to those three girls was that while their personalities aren't the most... idk how to put it... desireable whenever someone in real life has them (let's be real, no one would fall for a human with any of those three...) ... they could get away with it due to being anthropomorphic cartoon girls... but if they started out as guys... man people would've probably hated them since their creation XD

This actually happened in my world, only I traveled between different universes and ended up in the ''gender reversed'' universe. Me and my friends had their own girl version of her, the one I liked the most is Darling, since she was very kind to me and helped me repair the machine that I used. then Merasmus (a magician) appeared and he was the one who sent me to this world, then he challenged me and we had a fight. I was losing, Nicole (my girl version) and Darling defeat Merasmus and then finally, I went back to my home and everything was back to normal.
